considering one of the best video game stories I have experienced this year (and way better than any ninja theory game on a dialogue, character progression and overall narrative level) was in Asuras's wrath, you may have a point there.
shame about the actual "game" though.

Here are the entire spoilers. BE FUCKING WARNED!!! POTENTIALLY NUT CRUSHING SPOILERS INSIDE!!!!
You know the first 3 spoilers I can actually believe. I remember hearing that the Japanese version is to be censored and I couldn't help but wonder why because there hasn't been anything too violent shown in the game. The last one is just too lulz... I didn't believe that for a second.
Dante gains his white hair after he absorbs the soul of his brother.
"Sparda comes back, only to die 10 minutes later. He helps weaken the walls of Mundus family fortress so Donte can get in, but he gets raped by guardian demons. Pretty useless character, I don't know why they had to do something with him if it was only for ten minutes".
"Also, there's no character arc, nothing is learned, there are no morals to the story, Mundus or whatever the fuck, has children and Donte kills their mother and make them watch, then slaughter them, then slowly murder Mundus and feeds him his children. And they don't even touch upon how fucked up it is."
"It isn't a reboot, it's a prequel branching off into a divergent universe that involves time traveleing demon-angels from the future that want to save the universe by creating paradoxes and destroying timelines with their time machine that runs on the tears of children. It ends suggesting that Capcom will have Donte and Dante fight side by side agains't Time-Demon-Angels who eat Baby's Tears. This sounds like I'm making it up as I go along, it really does. But you have my word that this happens, I swear to all the deities that have ever been, that this is what happened. I wish I'm lying, but it's the truth. I'm Not Fucking Joking"

Same. It's an enjoyable action game, but I've also never been into the franchise. I can see where fans would be put off.
This kind of jolted a memory of a weird dream I had shortly after DmC was first revealed. DmC and DMC were seperate universes, and it ended up with Donte meeting Dante in a boss fight, and then they were forced to join forces to fight off some greater evil or something to that effect.
It was more or less a salty dream coming off the reveal and managed to make more sense than this. I don't think at my most delirious I could come up with something this dumb.
I hope it turns out to be true.
Biggest badass in existence in the original DMC turned into doormat.

I don't think it is even worth serious discussion really.
its pretty obvious the end boss is vergil as he has some form of heel turn once you beat mundus.
Id imagine kat holds the key to greater power for him and he wants her to die and dante wont let that happen.
nothing too out the ordinary really.
Id even wager you don't kill him but you send him to some hidden dimension, which is the "personal hell" which is the setup for the DLC
Regarding Vergil, I think it's obvious that upon Dante killing Mundus, Vergil then unveils his true plan of taking over from Mundus and ruling the underworld. The whole point of the Order recruiting Dante would be to have Dante take Mundus out. The whole point of Vergil being goody two shoes is for the sake of mindgames and manipulation leading up to Vergil's master revelation.
That's how I see it pan out.

The ending however is just LOLOLOL... that is a whole other level of crazy.
And I already talked about this many pages ago but someone actually posted proof of how the guns in DmC are the weakest guns in DMC history:

I think he should've compared them with DMC4 guns but even those guns kill way faster than DmC guns.
Thankfully the Ricoshot is boss as fuck. Does good damage, give you insane style points and very useful for combos especially multi enemy juggles. One of the best additions to DmC.

I do not think it sound stupid. I do not think it sounds brilliant either, as opposed to what you assume. The world does not have to be blind hate/blind love, if you invest a little more into it
Yeah, I've never been a huge fan of the franchise either so the changes here are all for the better (except for the framerate, but the PC version will solve that).
This game seems infinitely more compelling than anything Capcom proper has released in the franchise and I feel that the pressure to deliver a good action game has massively improved the end results here so we have a much better combat system than anything NT has done before.

I still don't see how this fits into what we have for the achievement list.
Mundus and Lilith should be dead before we even fight Vergil, and there's this stuff about some Vault opening. Also, that scene with his veins popping and red eyes is his first DT.
This all just doesn't add up at all.

In what way exactly is it more compelling? Other than the novelty of NT finally having decent combat in an action game i am not really seeing what makes this any more interesting than the old series.
What about the combat in this demo makes it more "compelling" than DMC 3 SE?

demo was quite fun
runs like shit on PS3, but w/e it's UE3. standards are abysmally low at this point

I used DMC 3 SE as the example since I think most fans would say it's the best game in the series, and because I played as Vergil for the first time last night and it reinforced how the combat in that game is on another level from all but the very best action titles.
I wish I played DMC HD back when everyone else did cause the OT is dead.

I'm totally with you. Agreed on all points.
The mission ranking system is also broken. If your style points are absurdly high (like in the millions) but you get Ds in everything else (life and completion) you still get SSS rank. I tested this by even dying once, you still get SSS.
Also the guns while doing negligible damage are still useful. They can stun enemies out of attacks (like the chainsaw guys) or you can clip the wings of the flying enemies. I know later on you can blind those giant rat enemies with the guns as well.
