"DmC squarely competing with Bayonetta in gameplay"

So wait, we have seen the last of the game play videos and none came close to what we have in Bayo which is an older game they have decided to compete against.

I don't see it touching it. Nothing they have shown has. I don't know if this is over confidence in them or trying to build confidence in us.

I don't see it happening.

Good, good.

He said squarely: ''Directly, without deviating to one side''.

I want to see that comparison be made.

But I also want a DmC reversion...

And of course he needs to hype up his game, he just gained 'pr' in the process.

I believe.

Unless it's a competition of screen tearing then I don't know how lucid these guys think they are.

Should that be their goal? Sure. Will they reach it? I'd wager no.

Anyway, if this is the influence that Ninja Theory is having on Capcom (horrible PR statements), then this partnership is pretty doomed. When I read the quote, I assumed that it was someone like Tameem saying bullshit that he usually does, not someone from Capcom.

Bayonetta was a godly mix of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden. I don't see this touching it and they're only setting themselves up for a fall. I'd love to be proven wrong, but the combat in both Heavenly Sword and Enslaved was utterly broken.

it'd be the best part of the game that's for sure

Hmm, I'm not sold yet to be honest. Even if he has a decent bod, I'd need a paperbag to cover up his brand-new, meth-addict face.

Also, I'd knock over a magazine rack if he start saying things like "My little puss puss".

I've been a staunch advocate of giving DmC a chance, and I will, but this comment made me punch myself in the face. Get the fuck outta here with that shit. No one can fuck with Kamiya in the gameplay department.

It's always about the feel. Ninja Theory and Capcom can't shut up about the damn feel of the game.

Capcom, if the game doesn't feel like getting a blow job, I'm not buying.

I was wondering who said this and it was Capcom's USA Producer and not anyone at Ninja Theory.

Poor Ninja Theory...

I should have included Capcom in the title just to avoid confusion for those who'll not read the OP.
If a mod can edit the title then please do.

You just know he's gonna get his ass kicked back at the office for saying that. It's the kind of quote that will be dragged out come review day.

It's douchey to say it like they did, however, I'm at least glad they recognize that Bayonetta is the best at this type of gameplay right now.

Well the NT guy was there too, he was complacent in it. However it did kind of suggest Capcom are more responsible for the combat elements and NT are only really getting heavy influence on the non-combat elements like the story telling, and in that department, NT have serious chops.

Heavenly Sword had a decent combat system, considering it was trying to emulate God of War more than anything. Ninja Theory are very capable, and with Capcom lending a hand I don't see why this is such an outlandish claim.

Bayonetta is becoming pretty overrated. It's about equal to DMC 3 and a few notches below Ninja Gaiden in terms of combat.

I don't know guys, you guys seem to be making a bigger deal out of this than it sounded to me. I hope Ninja Theory can put their own mark on DMC while keeping the old school feel.

Looks like this will be the first Devil May Cry game I actually like...cool

Bayonetta is the pinnacle of action gameplay this gen. DMC4 had pretty solid gameplay but was pretty much ruined by the level design and the decision to try and double the game by having you play all the same levels over again but the 2nd time as Dante.

Because of outlandish claims by a company partnership that's already mired with inconsistency and lies ever since the game's announcement?

I know that some people dig the new style, for whatever reason, and they don't care about combat. But to say that this "news" will make this the first DMC that appeals to them is silly. You're probably just trying to rile shit up, and I stupidly took the bait.

Bloody Palace mode almost makes up for it. The problem is that there's no checkpoints.

These threads always end up with a lot of God of War hate.

I'm here to defend God of War. If you have any negative opinions on the franchise, especially regarding the combat, do it now and I'll defend it the best I can.

In before David Jaffe posts in thread that GoW combat sucks, well he didn't he work as combat designer.

On topic; I love Bayonetta and I don't think DmC will be able to touch it combat-wise.

This gif makes me laugh every single time.

In my opinion, let them try. Beyonetta was perfection in my eyes in terms of gameplay and overall fun, so if they want to attempt to make something that can stand as high as Bayonetta does, then more power to them. Actually, I wish you luck Ninja Theory, you're more than welcome to give Platinum a run for it's money.

I enjoyed both Heavenly Sword and Enslaved even with the !@$%* combat. Fun games that put effort into storytelling.

Always good to hope for the best from your contracted developer... even if that hope is pretty outlandish...

Still, I wouldn't mind playing through the game even if it's only half as fun as Bayonetta.
