Do Wiimotes and Wii U pro controller work on all wii U games?

lets say I buy a new wii u it comes wtibh 1 wii u gamepad I believe. But I want to play some local co-op can the other person just use a wiimote from the last gen Wii or a wii u controller plus on all the games?

Not all, but they work with most. The back of the box tells you which controllers are supported. If you tell us which games you're buying, we'll be able to help.

Of course not.

But of course if the game has local co-op then it's obviously going to make use of either Wii remotes or Wii U pro controllers. You don't need two gamepads if that's what you're asking.

The Wiimote works with a lot of games, but not all.

You can check the individual game's page on Nintendo.co.uk, the compatible controllers are listed there.

Some games do and don't, really depends on the game. You should look on the back of the box. I can tell you first hand that Mario Bros. U and 3D World works with Wiimote via co-op. The Wii Pad, sadly, on Mario Bros. U acts as a helping hand to help characters on screen.

Not all, but most are supported by them. All local coop games basically has Pro compatibility due to Wii U supporting only 1 gamepad at a time. And as for Wiimote I think it also supports all motion-controlled games and many Wii U coop games too, but you got to check for compatibility first as it's per game basis.

From a first-party perspective:

Nintendo Land supports Wii Remote and Wii Remote/MotionPlus (needed for two attractions)

New Super Mario Bros. U supports all Wii Remotes and the Wii U Pro Controller

Pikmin 3 supports Wii Remote + Nunchuk (enhanced controls w/ MotionPlus) and the Wii U Pro Controller

The Wonderful 101 supports the Wii U Pro Controller and the Wii Classic Controller (Pro)

The Wind Waker HD supports the Wii U Pro Controller

Super Mario 3D World supports the Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuk, Wii Classic Controller, and Wii U Pro Controller

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze supports Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuk, and the Wii U Pro Controller

Mario Kart 8 supports literally every Wii or Wii U controller

Hyrule Warriors supports the Wii Remote + Nunchuk and Wii U Pro Controller

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U supports every Wii or Wii U controller as well as the GameCube controller through the GameCube adapter

Most third-party multiplatform titles support the Wii U Pro Controller. Some also support Wii Remotes or the Wii Classic Controller.

Looking at your list, you'll be covered by a Wii U Pro Controller for every game you could possibly want to play co-op.

However if OP's question is about local multi then of course the game will support Pro controllers/classic/wiimote for that since there's no games supporting two Wii U gamepads.

MK8: Yes, both.
New Mario Bros U & uigi U: Yesm both but beware you need a remote/pro for each player. Yeah I know it's stupid.
Bayonetta 2: Pro yes, remote no.
Wonderful101: Pro yes, remote no..
Wind Waker HD: Pro yes, remote no.

Sonic: Lost World does not support either for Single-Player,

Gamepad Only.
Unless a patch came out that I missed somewhere...

Why would it be stupid for each player to have their own Wiimote/Gamepad/Pro in NSMBU? How would you play if you didn't have your own controller?

Perhaps he/she is referring to the fact that the gamepad can only be used in single-player and the special boost coop mode (as player 2, 3, 4 or 5). To play 2-player regular co-op, you'd need two controllers in addition to the gamepad.

If you're asking if the Original Wii's Wiimote is compatible with the Wii U. Yes.

But it is not the main source of input. Some games require it, most don't. So it's between optional and necessary.
