I made a conscious effort not to patron them again when all that gay marriage controversy happened. That is, until Friday. I got off late and after a pretty miserable workday, I just wanted a chicken biscuit. With hashbrowns. And, my lord, it was so good. To top it off they gave me a complimentary orange juice. Kind of conflicted here.

Is there any company without questionable politics?

Not one with chicken this good, for darn sure.

LOL! You don't feel like you're helping to line the pockets of a company with questionable politics?

What? Because they actually have principles they believe in? They could be making a lot more money by staying open on Sunday but choose not to so their staff don't have to work on the Lord's day or whatever. The reason their food is good, service is excellent, and business is succesful is intrinsic to their southern roots and values. I'm 100% pro-gay marriage but I think it's disgusting that they had to succumb to social pressures from a bunch of activists who are completely inconsiderate of other people's beliefs. One day this shit will be backfire on us

Queue up the "it's amazing! Waffle fries and spicy chick of the gods" posts, followed by the "you are assisting a terrible company!" posts, and rounded off by the "well this other company you support is also terrible!" replies.

I think this is the first time I've ever been THAT guy, but chick fill a threads are like a weird circular discussion that never ends.

You forgot my post which is simply to say that there isn't a Chic-Fil-A near me so I don't buy stuff from them.

There is a reason why it's not good to be that guy. It's a discussion board and there is only so much you can say about the subject. If you've had your fill, keep stepping. Every subject on this board has been talked about.

Well, except circumcision. That's one topic that's never come up around here.

Yeah I still eat there like once a week. It's not like they practice what they preach when I'm inside their restaurant so their agenda doesn't bother me

I'm sure a lot of companies do things I'd disagree with. And yeah I've wrestled with how complicit I am. But this is fast food we're talking about. I don't have to go there (and again, for years, I haven't). But I'm like this shit is quite tasty and I'm wondering if my "making a statement" even matters.

Look I don't care if they don't support same sex marriage. Just seemed kind of jacked up that they were actively fighting it.

Well good morning to you sunshine. This wasn't some attempt to start up a tired debate. It sincerely happeend to me and I've been questioning whether I want to go back lol. The chicken biscuit was that darn good. But yeah i probably should've searched for a similar thread.

I ate at the one that opened here in NYC a few months ago and it wasn't anything special. You would do better by eating at Fuku or Fuku+ (that is if you wanted to eat a spicy fried chicken sandwich and were in NYC)

I probably will go back to try their chicken biscuit though.

Rarely ever did, it's a damn mission to get to one where I'm at.

They're bs doesn't make me refuse to go there since I never bothered, why would I when I have a Popeyes pretty close to me.

That is because the conversation always gets snipped.

I prefer Popeyes or Zaxbys, but now and then I will put a hurting on some Spicy Chicken and Waffle Fries now and then with a nice Lemonade.

Even if you don't patronize them hundred thousands customers do so what difference does it make? Just eat and forget about it.

I do miss Zaxbys. Not enough to go back to the Carolina's, of course. But enough.

All this thread points out to me is how strange people have become with 'enjoying' fast food rather than just eating it because that's all there is. Fast food is meant to be a last resort, not something you morally wrestle yourself about. I guess it's to the credit of how these companies have made lard and oil and flour taste so 'good.'

I'm not saying eating fast food is bad, but look at how you frame your post. This company has a belief system that disagrees with yours. The debate should basically be over there. But MMM DEM CHICKEN BISCUITS completely trumps all of that. It's crazy how the ingredients they put in this stuff gets people addicted enough to think like this.

Not going to argue with you, you make great points. It's not something I try to do often but some mornings are rough. And I figured "well, hey, it's better than McDonald's". Not even how true that is.

I have to drive about 30 mins to Tampa to get to one, but when I get that craving I will invent a reason.

I shit you not, I'm in Tampa as well haha. Haven't been to Zaxby's since moving here though.

Until recently there was only one Chic Fil A in my entire state and it was nowhere near where I live. I think they have opened one, maybe two, more but neither of them is nearby either. Maybe some day they will open one near where I live and I will have to resolve the taste v ethics dispute but for now, I can smugly say I've never eaten there.

Yes. I don't care. This seems as stupid as my coworker that can't enjoy a movie if the actor is too liberal.
Me: Ever watch The American, that George Clooney movie?
Coworker: That liberal whackjob?
Me: Uhh. Well, whatever.

It came to Washington state a little while back, man, the lineups were crazy. Had it 3 times so far, some of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten, their waffle fries, their chik fil-a sauce. Wish they'd come up to Canada, who knows maybe one day.

I've never had Chic-Fil-A and i'm gay. I also don't have any interest either. There are plenty of places to get fried chicken.

I don't eat there very frequently, but mostly because I don't eat as much fast food anymore and it's not one of the more convenient ones to me. I never stopped eating there because of the gay marriage thing. Generally speaking, I don't boycott. Impacts me a lot more than it impacts them.

It's tough to start avoiding products strictly for political reasons. I also don't get why Chic-Fil-A is often the go-to for boycot. Why don't I see as many people ask "Does anyone here still buy [Product X]", because the company owners are fundamental Muslims, it's manufactured using child labor, it's mines are using near-slave wages, etc.

No. I like to eat food that is actually good.

In the end this is why I don't eat there.
