Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

If you do, what are they? If that's too hard, do you have a top 3? I'm watching some YouTube videos of greatest scenes or monologues, and it seems like Leonardo DiCaprio might be more favorite actor. Which actually shocked me.

I saw his performances in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Basketball Diaries and others. And it made me think, I really do like this dudes work more than others.

But my favorite movie might be The Shawshank Redemption. There are few movies that stop me in my tracks until I finish it. It has to be up there as the movie I've seen the most in my life. It doesn't matter where it's it in the past on cable. If it was on, I was watching it. I want to say Braveheart or Pulp Fiction, but Shawshank is like a movie drug that I can't quit.

I love the shawshank redemption.
Overall I'd say:

Shawkshank and Pulp Fiction would probably make my top three and I love Morgan Freeman and Samuel L Jackson to pieces. My list tends to be pretty fluid and I think I'd need a top 20 to cover the movies that I really adore.

Probably Sam Rockwell. He disappears into every role and he clearly takes time to put work in before the cameras start rolling. He is the anti Tom Cruise who is just Tom Cruise in every film since, I dunno, the late 90s?

Robocop and Starship Troopers will always be my official two favorite films. Some of it may be down to nostalgia but I'll always insist that they're genuinely great movies. Third place is more of a toss up but Predator/Terminator/Aliens all kinda share that spot. I'd say it was Total Recall but I don't want to sound like a Paul Verhoeven groupie.

But it also matters that I wasn't the same age when I saw all these films. Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Inglorious Basterds are all top tier films that I could watch endlessly and I also think Natural Born Killers is an absolute masterpiece.

I care less about actors though. Many are quite likeable but I never go to see 'the new DiCaprio movie' or whatever. But I'll watch a new Shane Black movie as soon as possible.

there are just too many good movies to really put one as my favorite. off the top of my head.

Ain't no shame in that. Verhoeven has made some LEGENDARY films.

It's funny, just a few men made almost all the films I really enjoy. Scott, Cameron, McTiernan, Spielberg, f'n bizarre how so much came from so so few (and the obviously stellar teams they assembled).

How different would Heat be if it had supporting actor Samuel Jackson? And maybe Val play Jules and Sammy J stars in The Saint. 1998 was crazy.

Unfortunely, I am the hipster that have to pick Ikiru, and the lead actor Takashi Shimura is my favorite actor. From Godzilla to Seven Samurai, he was great as everything from the everyman to the wise leader.

Some other films I love:

Predator, Die Hard 1 & 3, Terminator 2, LOTR Trilogy, The Matrix, First Blood, The Truman Show, Taxi Driver, Gladiator, Once Upon a Time in the West, Das Boot, Bambi, The Incredibles, Wall-E, Rocky III, Dead Poets Society, Avengers: Infinity War, Alien, Any Given Sunday and on and on.

I know I said in the OP Shawshank Redemption and Leonardo DiCaprio. And I still think they are, but I feel like I have to at least mention The Green Mile and Tom Hanks.

For me favourite movie is Empire Strikes Back followed by a few James Cameron movies (T2, Aliens etc)

I havent thought about my favourite actor since Robert Redford died, The Natrual, Sneakers and so many other movies.

Movie of choice since the 80s has been Back to the Future.

Actor of choice has to be Leo. The man is consistently fantastic.

Favorite movie: Watchmen.

I don't really have a favorite actor; there is many actors I like and a few I don't, but no one is above everyone else. But, on the other hand, I have four favorite movie directors (in no particular order):
- The Wachowski
- Lord & Miller
- Edgar Wright
- Zack Snyder

Movie? Lost Highway
(followed by Leaving Las Vegas, The Doors and Requiem for a Dream)

Actor? Young De Niro
(followed by Gary Oldman and Christian Bale)

My favourite film is Clueless, with Alicia Silverstone.

I don't really have a favourite actor or actress that I'll definitely watch if they're in something but I'll give a shout out to Tilda Swinton, she's a fantastic actress.

I do however absolutely loathe Tom Cruise and refuse to watch films that he's in.

Stallone would be my favorite actor.

Hard to say favorite movie but I do have a top 10 that isn't ranked.

So excluding SW movies:

Jawbreaker
Black Belt Jones
Rocky II
Gorgeous
Police Story 2
Suspiria(Original)
Spirited Away
The Return of Captain Invincible
Audition
Sleepy Hollow

Shit, that's like asking a parent to pick their favorite kid 😊

Favorite actor: Daniel Day-Lewis

Man, it's hard to pick a single favorite movie when there's *so much* great stuff out there. I honestly can't name just one, so here are a few that really stuck with me:

**The Lord of the Rings trilogy**
I mean… what even needs to be said at this point? I return to it at least once a year. Pure cinematic escapism, and in my eyes, a perfect trilogy

**YES, OF COURSE I ONLY WATCH THE EXTENDED EDITIONS.**

I even know exactly which scenes are new. I've watched the theatrical cuts so many times that the extended editions still feel fresh to me.

**There Will Be Blood**
This movie got me into films as an adult. It's the only movie I've ever watched twice in the same night. It left a massive impression on me and genuinely made me curious about what else cinema had to offer. Sounds strange, I know.

**The Dark Knight**
What if this were a Michael Mann–style crime thriller that just happens to have Batman in it? It completely redefined the ceiling for superhero movies.

**The Holdovers**
Only saw this recently, but it instantly became one of my favorites. Quietly powerful and incredibly human.

**The Avengers / Avengers: Infinity War**
Ensemble movies will always have a soft spot in my heart. They absolutely nailed the first Avengers and Infinity War is still the perfect comic book movie to me. Can't wait for Doomsday

**Actors?**
Leonardo DiCaprio
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Sydney Sweeney
Joaquin Phoenix
Daniel Day-Lewis
Brad Pitt
…and yeah, I love me some Ryan Gosling too.

There are just too many great movies and performances to name them all

Too many to count. Tom Cruise, Arnold, Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, etc. They all starred in the greatest stuff like Blade Runner, MI, T2, etc.

It used to be Harrison Ford but for me the quality of his movies took a nosedive since Airforce one (Bladerunner is Gosling's movie) He seems like such a miserable guy in interviews too.
Michael Shannon always elevates any movie he's in so I guess he's my favourite for now.
I can't imagine ever getting bored of Aliens, ever since I taped it off TV years ago it's overshadowed most action movies through the years.

Lost in Translation and Michael Clayton have been my two favorite movies for years. They are 1a and 1b. Will take a lot to dethrone them. As for favorite actor, not really.
