Do you have a yearly gaming budget?

This is the first year I set myself a budget. It's €30 a month, equating to 1 new full price game per 2 months. It's not that I haven't got more to spend, but with such a big backlog, this is my way to push myself in trying those games. So far I am still within budget (no retail releases bought except for a 2nd hand Gravity Rush Remasterd) but when UC4 release I'll right on the monthly limit. Yes I play more of my backlog, but I find it very hard to not buy into sales...

It depends. I just got an Xbox 360 after not having one for years, and bought all the Halo and Gears games for it at around $5 a piece. It's not so much about how many, but how much it adds up to.

No. Knowing that I have a big backlog of good games waiting for me means that I don't want to splurge, so there is really no need for a budget.

No, but I sell a lot of my physical games and replace them with others. I like to bring in more money than I spend, so that my gaming doesn't cost me any additional money... just time. :)

Lately it's been one a week, or two every two weeks. If I want it, I buy it. However all the games I want pretty much came out already. So I won't be spending that much more on games for the rest of the year.

Last year I only bought like 4 games. Too many RPGs are coming out this year. So more than likely next year will be another slow year for my purchases.

New games I try not to do more than 2 in a month, which is only a problem towards the end of the year.

For retro games I set aside $100 a month, with what I don't use rolling over to the next month. Comes in handy when I stop by my favorite retro shop whenever I make a trip back home.

I don't have a yearly budget. I give myself 60 dollars each month. I can save or use it in whatever combination I want. I usually only buy games on sale and then put the rest away for future sales or save it for hardware.

Also any money I get for birthday/holidays goes pretty much all to gaming.

No budget here

I buy whatever looks good and I want

Bills and other expenses come from what's left after I buy my games, or sometimes don't get paid

I average 3-4 per month

Not really. I just buy any games that interest me. It's my favourite form of entertainment so I don't really consider the cost.

Last year my games budget was AU$500 I spent $792, but that included a bunch of Wii U games like Mario maker, Xenoblade X, Project Zero. The latter two I expected wouldn't have had large print runs so I had to buy full price. And in Australia Project Zero was $90, steep. I also bought a bunch of strategy guides because I thought that it'd be nice for the collection but I'll probably limit it a bit more now.

This year my budget was $200 as I anticipated not buying any Wii U games or strategy guides, but I've spent about $170 already, I didn't anticipate buying The Division. I don't have any games I'm really looking forward to for the rest of the year but I guess we will find out more at E3. If I can keep it to $300 I'll be pretty happy. I'm all about the backlog for the next couple of years plus a lot of great titles I've held off on buying like MGSV, Dark Souls 3, Stardew Valley.

I usually spend $150 every month, which works out to $50 on PC hardware and $100 on games. In addition to that I buy every mainstream console at or close to release and usually have either a Gold or Plus subscription. My backlog is larger than I'll ever be able to play, so I don't need to buy too many new games and yet I still end up with more new games than I can complete every month. This month my $100 got me Ratchet & Clank, 8-Bit Armies, Shadow of the Beast, Hydro Thunder, Quake 1+ 2, which is too many to complete in that timeframe.

At some point soon I think I'll start only buying a new game every time I complete two from my backlog.

yes its 500$ a year i wait for black friday or christmas sale for buying my games, i dont buy games at full price snymore i wait and usually after 6 months to 1 year they have a price drop

No, I just buy the few things I want when they release. It falls under the general entertainment budget.

The only budget I have is 2 console games per month, usually one for handhelds and one for PS4, and they need to be $30 or less. Unless they are heavily discounted, like $10 or less. Same with PC.

After that, no, I don't have a real budget. If I see something I'm interested with more than 60% discount then I'll buy it.

No budget per se. I do try and limit new games I buy at full price to games I have been really looking forward to.

My game time is limited, so I try and keep my new game purchases to a limit.

I have a monthly budget for games ($20), but it's a ballpark figure rather than a hard-and-fast limit. I play mostly indie games and buy big publisher games when they're on sale. On the rare occasion when I buy a new big-budget game, it means I try not to buy anything else for a couple of months.

Keeps me from having an insane backlog, and keeps game spending at a reasonable level.

I try to not spend more than $60 a month. When I go home for the weekends, I try to make up that money by doing chores. My parents pay well and I've been conditioned to like mowing the lawn, so it works for me.

Except for when I go to Magfest. I spent a bunch there.

Not a budget but I try my best not to buy any game at full price regardless of the game. With how often things go on sale nowadays I'm fine with waiting it out.

With all that said, I don't think I've bought a new game since I moved somewhere with shitty internet. It really does a great job at limiting what I buy.

No official budget but I tend to buy most games a year or two after release once they hit 66% - 80% off. On average I'll buy 2 - 3 games a year at full price.

100 USD per year. Been that for the past two about.

I seldom purchase anything new anymore. Last year it was Witcher 3 and Ark Survival Evolved. This year, its looking to be Rocket League and Deus Ex Mankind Divided. The rest of it is typically Humble Indie bundles and repurchases of titles I would like to replay or cheaper indie/Eastern titles.

Not really no, but I generally don't buy new $60 games. Last one I bought was the Witcher 3 last year. I generally wait till they are at least below $30. In general, I'll buy about like 10-15 games a year or so.

Just picked up Fallout 4 last week on sale for like $25!

Last year, I used to buy 3-4 games a month, and double copies of day one editions for games I really like (e.g: Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden) just to keep the sealed editions on display as collection.

My budget is pretty tight now that I bought my own soho suite. Currently, it's only about 1 game a month so far:
Jan RE origins collection
Feb Street Fighter V
Mar Final Fantasy Explorers
Apr Resident Evil 6
May Uncharted 4

I skipped DOAExtreme because I find it unworthy of the price, probably will pick it up once the price drops. But i think I'll blow budgeting off once FFXV, PSVR and all the other REs drop. The best year for PS4 and I have to start budgeting.....sigh....

I'm trying to cut down hugely this year, generally 4 games a month at maximum, usually less, since I don't finish the games I start as it is.

I used to be around 4 games a month.. Depending on the time of year. Unless there was a humble bundle. I don't really include those. Now I'm down to like 1 every 3-4 months.

Nope. I don't buy a ton of AAA games and when I do I get them off CDKeys or something. The rest I get a deep discounts. Really Nintendo games are what I spend my AAA money on mostly. It isn't very costly.

Not really. If I want a game badly enough I'll buy it. Thankfully there aren't very many $60 games that I want badly enough to buy at full price. For the most part, my backlog is full enough that I'll gladly wait for a steam sale or something like that.

I think the only games I've bought this year so far were Dark Souls 3, Street Fighter V and Killer Instinct S3 on PC.

The only thing on my radar is Overwatch if I like the open beta this weekend. I can't even think of another game I want until Fall.
