Do you put Egg on your Pizza?

Just once, from a takeway place in Edinburgh.
They crack the egg in the middle of the pizza then put it in the oven.
It was great.

Most Italian Pizza restaurants I have been too have at least one eggy option. I'm really surprised so many here haven't heard of that combo before.
i know right? it's kinda funny that people are berating the op and claiming sacrilege when it's a pretty common type of pizza. i remember it being an option at a lot of pizzerias every time i've been to italy. i guess people are so used to standard american takeaway toppings. fried egg and cured ham on pizza is delicious, weird close minded people in this thread are missing out 👌🏼

Of course I do. I mist it all over with room temperature water so it's nice and moist, then crack up a couple of raw eggs, and use the first slice to rub them into the rest of the pie.

That's how everyone eats it here. Local restaurants will often include a couple of loose eggs in the delivery box without being asked.

I can kinda see egg working well with the cheese and tomato sauce, maybe some ham too. Pizza omelet.

Makes more sense then pineapple that's for sure.

Ham, bacon, and pineapple just pop together. However, I've had mostly terrible pineapple pizza. There is only place I know of that makes it well and its very small pieces and warm.

There's a place in SF known for its farm egg pizza. Haven't had it, but looks good. Shrug.

It's pretty common here. I personally don't since I hate eggs in pretty much every form besides omelets, but my brother and mother often have some. My brother had one yesterday in fact (pizza with peppers, onions, spianata and an egg, it looked pretty good).
Most pizzas in this thread look like someone just cooked an egg in a pan and dumped it on a pizza though. Whenever I've seen it, the white was spread all over it and the yolk wasn't fully cooked. Like this kind of :

I assume everyone being outraged at this is american, right?

Always fun to see Gaf discussing what should or should not go on pizza.

By all facets, the time to cook even an premade crust pizza is far longer than the time to cook an egg. This sounds like a bad practice to me.

I had an amazing pepperoni pizza once with an egg in the middle. I was sceptical, but it was very tasty and complemented the pizza well, so sure, why not.

It's pretty common in my city. I think it's a regional thing. And there are just people who can't fathom that you can put way more on pizza than the normal stuff.

They don't put the egg at the same time as the entire pizza ? It's not rocket science.

That seems like wasted effort anyways. The taste of beaten egg is lighter than the rest of the salt fest that is pizza. Not to mention if you're dealing with soft yolks, its not being distributed evenly over the pie. Seems like some gimmick shit for it's own sake.

That's why you rub it in evenly.

Tried it and really liked it. Egg goes great with cheese so not that weird.
Hungover pizza with bacon and egg is awesome.
But as someone above said. Go easy on the tomato sauce when using egg.

Only had it on a breakfast pizza, but looks interesting. I tend to stick to more tasty standard fare I know is good, like supreme or chicken pinnaple.

This again?

I worked at a concession stand for a while and saw this abomination. I voiced my displeasure immediately.

Reminds me of that bit in Garth Marenghi's Dark Place where the only thing a character can cook is a poached egg in a bowl of soup.

How exactly is the egg cooked? Do you cook it separately from the pizza or with the pizza? (maybe even a raw egg on fresh out of the oven pizza?)

What toppings go well with the egg?

I would like to try this sometime.
