Do you still 100 percent games?

After finishing Skyward Sword, I noticed that I haven't 100 percented a Zelda game since OoT for the N64. Not to say SS wasn't enjoyable, I thought it was great, not perfect, but I had no desire to get everything.

This is in stark contrast to my early gaming years from 9 to my mid teen years, where I tried to get everything for every game I played. 96 exits in Super Mario World, max levels in my favorite RPGs, along with the best gear, etc. I made it a point of pride doing so.

Obviously, I don't have the time I had when I was younger, but even with Achievments/Trophies I don't care anymore.

I've noticed this more with JRPGs, still a favorite genre of mine. Trying to get 1000 points in Vesperia seemed like a huge chore. Looking at my backloggery profile, most of my completed games are ''beat'' instead of ''completed'' or ''mastered''

I don't think I've ever 100 percent-ed any game. I'm not talking about games where there's a finite ending and that's it, but rather the collect-a-thon games that become more of a chore to play than anything else.

I can't remember the last game I 100%'ed. It might've been Super Mario Sunshine way back when. I've played the hell out of several games, though, even if I don't 100% it.

Problem is, by the time you hit the ~70% mark the rest of the "things" you have to do are generally an exercise in grinding, mindless collectathons, repetitive missions, etc. These days I have too many games on my backlog to warrant lollygagging around any particular game. Besides, at that point I generally just want to play something else, so the only thing force feeding myself the rest of the game would do for me is make me sick of it.

100% in game? Occasionally, like RDR, Mass Effect, and most shooters. 100% in achievements, only a few.

*Snares at BF3 co-op missions and Complete Warrior achievement*

For Zelda games, yes.

For everything else? Not nearly as much. If I'm in love with the game and don't want it to end, absolutely.

Only if I enjoy it. The last one was for Red Dead Undead Nightmare. It was awesome getting the unicorn and everything.

I do like it when developers put more incentive to 100 percent games. Dead Rising 1 is a perfect example.

There's the classic conundrum in RPGs, but the time you get the best loot, they're no big monsters to kill. You've killed them all!

I remember my master file of FF7. Three sets of master materia--Master Magic, Master Command, Master Summon for all my parties members. All Ultima weapons and best armor. There was nothing fun to do anymore. I was a walking battle tank.

Depends. 100% to me is doing the main quest and all side quests. That isn't really true 100% if you count trophies/achievements/having everything maxed.

I tend to fully finish platformers the most.

Yeah, I usually try to. I wish more developers would implement rewards for actually reaching 100% of goals. Typically the only thing you're doing it for is for the satisfaction of getting that 100%.

edit: except things like leveling in JRPGs. grinding for hours to raise some stats to 999 when the game has become far too easy dozens of hours ago? forget that. I tend to only collect "physical" things that sit in an inventory or something.

Don´t have the time for it anymore, and I feel that most games that give you such a percentage for finding everything are ultimately unrewarding. So nowadays shmups, fighters, and racing games get most of my playing time, as I get a little sense of accomplishment getting better at those.

I try to. I recently got all the star coins and flags in 3d land. Also got 100% synch in assassins creed revelations.

I did most of the stuff in skyward sword except the minigames that you have to do to get all the heart pieces because fuck that. Though I did get all the goddess cubes and gratitude crystals. Twice over with hero mode.

*Looks at avatar.

TWEWY was a great example of how to design end game content.

I never finished the extra reports, though :(

Nope. I never really did.

Count in the camp of the previous poster where I try and at least experience all of the side quests and such. I'm not an achievement whore though, and I've never been one to have to well collect everything.

I usually try if it seems reasonably doable.

The worst is when you get all the achievements in a game and suddenly DLC comes along and nope, you don't have 1000/1000 anymore.

The last time I did this was for Nier and I loved every second of it. I'll probably end up doing again someday too. And then the DJMAX Portable games, if that counts.

So if I really like a game then I'll do it, which is probably the story for almost anyone.

Rarely. Only if I really, REALLY like the game. Otherwise, I just beat the main quest, do whatever post-game stuff seems appealing to me and then shelve it.

I usually find the 100%ing process tedious with little reward in comparison to the work I put into doing it.

Only if I like the game and if there's no stupid online requirements for it (ie. reach level 50 in MP game, Fuck that shit).

Very rarely, and only if I really love the game. I 1000'd Skyrim because I couldn't get enough, but my most recent purchase (Uncharted: Golden Abyss) will probably just get a single playthrough on normal.

That was FFX for me. Can't believe the time I wasted playing blitzball and dodging lighting. Who the hell was responsible for that crap? Had to Toriyama. The monster arena was great, though.

I have a theory that as people get older, they tend not to 100% games as often for two reasons: less free time, and increased income (therefore not having to rely on parents for game purchases, and buying/playing more total games). This also plays into nostalgia--we're spending less total time with any individual game, so we don't learn become attached as easily.

Did you max stats by rewriting the sphere grid and fighting the arena monsters over and over and over again for +4 stat spheres?

If I really enjoy the game and it seems within reach, I'll 100% it. So far I've only gotten 100% in three games currently: Battlefield 1943, God of War 3, and Crysis. I've been trying to get 100% in God of War 1&2 but those challenges are tough!

No. I didn't get that far. FFX became an obsession for, so I just erased my file. I was grinding up 8 hours a day. I had to take drastic measures.

Most recently Skyward Sword. Before that it was DKCR...not counting the mirror mode. That's never a "real" mode, let's all be honest.

The only games I tend to try on are Rockstar games. But I ended up getting that 98% glitch on Bully and couldn't finish it and then just got tired of chasing it at around 90% on RDR.

Used to do try in platformers but never could, last time I tried was Super Mario Galaxy. couldn't do it.

3d Zelda games are easy and I can usually 100percent'd them, but haven't had the time for Skyward Sword. Shooters are short and I attempt it in them too, almost did it with COD4. I also tried with Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3 but there were always some peskiness hidden somewhere.

I pretty much 95percent'd fallout 3, but it does not even count since I never bought Mothership Zeta. The same goes with Pokemon Crystal, I was only missing smeargle and something else i don't recall.

I have not 100 percent'd a game since Twilight princess. In the past I did: Ocarina of time, Majora's Mask, Banjo Kazooie, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (with cheats), DBZ super sonic warriors (GBA), Spiderman (from the 1st movie), and Resident Evil 0.

I've almost never 100%-ed any games. The only two I can think of are KH1 and 2. Came close with Twilight Princess, the only thing I didn't bother with was finding all the Poes. OH, and the original Paper Mario I suppose, but I don't recall there being too much to do outside of the main story.

I continue playing a game as long as I'm having fun. I won't force myself to 100% if I've stopped having fun - I never have - but if the game's good, I could easily play through to that 100%.

Like, Arkham City. I beat all the side missions, got all the Riddler trophies, and 3-starred all the challenge rooms. But New Game + and the Campaigns just weren't fun for me, so I didn't bother.

Not any more. I used to try to complete everything I played, but then I realized that was a waste of time. Now I only try to complete games that are actually challenging. It's way more fun this way.

Rarely, i still got 200 odd steam games in the backlog. For me its clock one, off to on next game. Skyrim i almost did 100%. (94%)
