Do you think Snake will die in MGS4

Well, everyone refers to Solid Snake by "Snake," and Liquid Snake, usually, by just "Liquid." I can't recall a time when I've heard something like "It was so cool (retarded) when Solid surfed on missiles in Twin Snakes!" Therefore I'm certain Kojima was indeed referring to Solid Snake.

You forgot Snake in the ghost babel and the Acid games.

Isn't he technically "Solid Snake", just in alternate universes? As I understand it, Ghost Babel is a sequel to MG1 and MG2, ignoring the MGS series. Something similar with the AC!D universe if I recall correctly.

Anyway, I agree with you about Snake's fate.

Snake won't die. I have seen the ending. He gets saved by Raiden from Ocelot. Then the government puts him in a hypersleep mode. And while he is sleeping they create millions of clones of him. And in MGS5, you play online as snake's clone against all other clones. MGS 5: The Clone Wars.

Expect to see Liquid Snake in full form in MGS4

MGS4 should allow them to put together the Snake vs. Ocelot battle that was originally planned in MGS2. It's basically them fighting in the middle of a war. And with the gameplay being based around you being able to choose what side you want to be on in the war due to who you attack it should work out. Snake and his army vs. Ocelot and his. Sort of like the Aumaan army battle in ZOE2 although this time you'd have a main target you were searching for during the battle.

Maybe Raiden is the chosen one who will bring balance to the universe and Solid is the mentor who will have to face Raiden in an epic battle on a fiery battlefield. Ocelot is the great evil overlord and wants Raiden to destroy Solid so Raiden can become his evil-doer. And Meryl will bear twins that a "Snake" will be tasked to watch over. It would be EPIC!!

indeed

He will lose both his arms, and ends up being transformed into a cyborg. His arms will then live on attached to two Vietnam war veterans, who will forge a master plan to resurrect the Patriots. Snake fights both his arms, but loses one eye. Then all of a sudden Liquid's arm appears, which triggers an epic scale battle between all three arms.

"Snake kills Dombledoor"

Kojima is over-rated when it comes to stories and writing, I only enjoyed MGS3's story, .. MGS1 was okay, comic bookish but okay,,
and MGS2,, blah,, after the Fabreeze spraying the bombs bit, I returned MGS2 to the store.

I'm afraid that MGS4 will have too much Raiden, trying to force us to like him. I will still not understand the reasoning of trying to enforce a bad character design like Raiden on players when Snake is the man.

If any Kojima fans find my post offensiv,, take it as an opinion. When you become too much of fan of something,, you will blindly accept anyting of what you are fan of.

Look at Star Wars fans who accept the Prequal movies and force themselves to accept them, denying that if there is anything wrong with them.

honestly the MGS games have some of hte most CHEESY not even up to B movie standard scripts . I like Kojima's direction but man his scripts/dialoge are truly awful.

From everything I have been exposed to, I have to agree with this post immensely.

They should get a real writer to do the story.

I really hope Snake dies. I <3 Snake, but it would be the most totally awesome thing ever to just see him fall in battle at the end of all things. An indomitable spirit of war, fading to darkness.

WHAT

I think the MGS games have really great scripts... but that's just me. Nearly every writing for every medium, be it movies, books, or videogames, have moments when the writing isn't that great, but for a videogame like this with such a complicated story, I'd say they're very good.

The correct reply was, "War is no reason to end a friendship." How could you forget about Frankie?

I was referring to Snakes conversations with The Boss and how she was trying to get him to leave his emotions out of the field because they can't play a role in your actions. Solid even knows that in MGS where he does say they were stil lfriends but this didn't have anything to do with it. They were friends on opposite sides of the battle lines doing their job.

xbots hehe...

also when you are gonna have long ass cutscenes and lots of dialogue the script better be decent.

MGS games usually have story as the major part of the game and if the script sucks well then....

FWIW, Kojima has apparently said there'll be less "cinema action cinema" going on in MGS4. He wants the story to come out via the environment and scripted sequences within gameplay, or something to that effect. Maybe more like something like HL2?

when did i even mention splinter cell? those games barely have a story.

do you even have a point?

It wasn't directed at you, it was meant for the Splinter Cell fanboy who only entered this thread to troll the MGS series like always.

He said he won't copy those games but add something new but basically some of the cut scenes will be like HL2.

And those annoying codec box will be gone for good with the introduction of tiny metal gear, so basically you will be able to walk around and do stuff while listening to people like in HL2.

GI: Will the more lifelike graphics change the way you approach cutscenes in the game?

Kojima: Yes, there will be a change to the demo scenes as well. We will still have the same cutscenes that we traditionally had. We call it the Hollywood type. It's very good to express feelings to the users. But we will also try a new cutscene as well, like a seamless camera from your point of view to the demo sequence. Something you normally see today in Halo 2 or Half-Life. Something that you can change and move and control. Of course, we will make it better and not a complete copy of those games. We will add some flavor and special touches as well.

Looking forward to how they do that.

I suspect Snake will be a brain in a jar who just THINKS he's experiencing Metal Gear Solid 4. He will actually be subconciously in control of the Metal Gear itself; the purpose he was originally created for. When he discovers the truth, he sees that he's about to destroy the world and must be stopped. Probably by Ocelot Jr.

edit: Sorry, the question was will he die. No, he will not, because he (as a brain in jar) is really a dead brain in a jar controlled by ghostliness.

Snake will shed his old skin and reborn as young Snake. Just look at his face.
In most of the MGS games, Snake does "shed his skin." In MGS, it's when Solid Snake takes off the rebreather at the beginning. In MGS2, it's when Snake takes off his pancho in slow motion before diving off of the Washington Bridge, again, when Liquid's arm bulks up and rips through Ocelot's shirt/coat, and yet again when Solidus removes his burning fabric/cloak thing. In MGS3, Naked Snake does this with the mask he wears after the HALO dive and The Boss does it when she removes her shawl to kick his ass in the begining of the SE mission. Anyway, the law of major characters dying is that they have to be taken in by someone close, a successor, usually, or a friend.
I really hope Snake learns the truth about Big Boss and why he set up Outer Heaven. That way, if Big Boss is brought back to life, they can fight as allies. Also, since we only see Big Boss' corpse in that hint image from last year, maybe it's being brought out for the original demand for it: to cure the defects of the clones/sons of Big Boss...

I asked Jeeve if Snake is going to die at the end of MGS4, and he answered "Hell NO, mother..."

So, here you go. It is official.

Kojima does whatever the hell he wants in the end. Take his statements at face value.

Hell, he might even probably trick people into thinking that Snake is the main character. But he can't do it. No one would even think about doing such a terrible thing.

I think Snake will go "bad", much like Big Boss.

I think something along these lines will happen. (Quotations added for emphasis.)

It would be a good setup for the next game, and would mesh with the "Snake doesn't die" comments.

So do you mean that in every Splinter Cell thread we should preemptively start off with a quick MGS criticism? It's stupid regardless of which series you favor, or what thread you do it in. By doing it, you proved yourself just moronic as those you were taking aim at.

PS: Snake for the death. It would be cool. And most likely flashy.

...and then Raiden brings him back to the good side in the end, yadda yadda.

That already happens, at least in MGS threads you get a couple of posts before the trolling starts. I expect the MGS trolling to be at an all-time high during E3.

I know it happens and I'm not excusing it. It ruins what could be good MGS/Splinter Cell threads. You're not helping it in any way if you have the exact same attitude, and it makes you a bit of a hypocrite. GJ at missing the point~

I don't know if he'll die, but this is the last game he'll be playable in.

As long as Kojima isn't coming back that's likely the case. But he's already backed off his comments of not coming back by saying that he'll return if that's what fans want. As it stands now he's seperated the series into trilogies and he says that's where he'll stop directing them.

Big Boss Trilogy - MG, MG2: Solid Snake, MGS3: SE
Solid Snake Trilogy - MGS, MGS2: SoL, MGS4: GotP

I heard from a very reliable source that at the end all the cast is reunited for a big meal. But the sausages are boobie-trapped, killing the whole cast in a big explosion.

That the only solution Kojima found to start a new Metal gear serie. The next one should be called Metal Gear Gaseous

The boobie-trapped food has not been set in stone yet. But sausages seems very likely since Kojima has a sausage fetish.

I think MGS4 will shape the next character to take over the series. Kojima probably put himself and Snake in a no going back situation on purpose. He can't do another game with an even older Snake, and he already did a game about the past. Kojima also hinted that Raiden would become a crowd pleaser, so it's probably going in that direction. I really hope Kojima puts Raiden in the E3 trailer. I can't wait to see the look and the details.

I don't think Kojima will kill Snake or drop the series. It's a perfect base for him to do what he loves, and Konami is throwing more and more money at him to do it. We all win!

I think its a bit too obvious to be Raiden (although it could always be him). The one often forgotten in this scenario is Olga's baby. While it'd still be young in MGS4 (around 12), we know there's something special about the kid since the Patriots to it like they did with Ocelot. I think that kid is either being set up to be a new villain or to be the main character in the series.

His Japanese voice actor did voice recording for the E3 trailer. That doesn't mean he'll appear for sure but it looks like a good possiblity that he will.
