Do you wash your hands before gaming?

MY girlfriend makes fun of me for washing my hands before I sit down to play games. I didn't think that was odd, as I don't want my controllers to get gross.

Do you wash your hands before picking up the controller?

Not specifically before gaming, no. But I wash my hands over a dozen times throughout the day as a practice. Having dirty hands is a bugaboo of mine.

I used to all the time, right before playing. I wash my hands a lot more now, though, so I typically don't really need to.

I was also the kid that made his friends wash their hands before using my controllers. They hated me. Let's face it, though, other people are gross.

I wash my hands when I come home, after eating, and after using the washroom, so I don't feel the need to wash them again before touching anything in the house

Yes, and it's a rule I insist on for guests.

Too many bad mid-2000s memories of playing Halo at friend's houses with their greasy ass controllers that are no doubt covered with pizza grease and cum.

Guests consistently find it odd, but I think it makes perfect sense.

Nope wipes or some purell. Only time I wash my hands is when something before hand has severely give me pause to do so.

Yep, every single time. I do everything I can to keep my controllers and keyboard/mouse clean and new looking.

Only if I've eaten something or gotten them dirty in some other way. I cannot stand the feeling of dirty hands so I wash mine pretty regularly.

Every time, no matter what. I can't stand my keyboard and mouse or controllers being dirty.

During my first year of college, it killed me when I'd bring my rig into the common room for some Starwhal/FIFA/Nidhogg/Oculus Rift shenanigans and people would break out pizza or snacks while using my controllers.

not typically, but I commend your efforts. I'm pretty obsessive about clean peripherals

I have a friend who is basically the reverse of you and at a LAN party he went to the restroom and we noticed his keyboard was covered in a whitish green ooze...

Later he announced it was time to just buy a new keyboard as the ooze had taken over.

Not unless I start feeling really clammy, or something.

I wash my hands so many times during the day, anyway, though.

I think I still have horse manure on my hands from the barn and I'm gaming right now. Just microscopic remnants though not visible poop.

If I washed my hands everytime I got into something dirty, with my lifestyle, it would just be a waste of soap and water.

Edit: I will if my hands are sticky. I hate sticky controllers.

Only if I ate something greasy right before. I just wash my hands after the bathroom and that's about it.

Its really interesting to see that most of you do. I never really thought of doing this every time before I played games.

Sometimes. I also keep napkins or paper towels on my coffee table and just wipe my hands off occasionally. I get really oily fingertips for some reason, but not palms/fingers. Just the tips.

I spent a summer working on a farm and washed my hands constantly, probably around twenty times a day.

I wash my hands when they or the controller feel sticky. If it's the latter, I'll also give the controller a light cleaning. I don't eat greasy or especially messy foods while playing games. I had at least two friends who would eat Cheetos while playing games when we were younger.

No.
NO.
NOOO.

I'll run my hands under the hose if they get really bad when I'm out there but I'll wait until I shower or am going to eat or before/after I use the bathroom. Thats about it.

only if i havent already been using the computer for a while or something. always after i eat food, always after i've been outside or something.

its inevitable that the oils/sweat is going to get on the controllers, so as long as it isn't something that isn't part of me, its okay.

Not really because my hands are almost always super clean.

I do wash my hands after playing certain games though. We know which ones.

absolutely. everyone must have clean hands weather they are touching the controller, or just putting the game back in the case....

its why i play alone.
