Dodgeball DS being localized (rejoice, TreIII!)

Just got an email from Aksys announcing that Super Dodgeball Brawlers will be released in the US in spring 2008.

So there you go!

Some info:
- over 100 attacks with their own animations
- use punches, kicks, and weapons
- new Super Gauge System for team upgrade attacks
- 8 player brawl mode
- create-a-character mode

29.99 MSRP.

Awesome, I knew something good would come of Aksys hopping on board the DS bandwagon with Hoshigami... eventually. :D

I bought a GBA for Circle of the Moon and Super Dodgeball Advance.

... I already have 3 DSs, so I guess I won't buy one for this, but I'll definitely pick the game up. Pity about no WiFi (or at least none announced yet IIRC)

There's this huge grin on my face right now. It's probably prozac induced but I'm sure it's from this game.

OMG hott! Hopefully there's more Million DS games in the works to follow. :D

And is ASW secretly bankrolling Aksys or something? I fully expect Puchi Copter Wii, GG2 Overture and Shikigami 3 to get announced any day now. :lol

I guess we can rule out there being online by now? We probably would have heard. Kinda sucks.

There was no wifi mentioned, so...

There are screens, though. But because I'm posting from my phone, I can't put those up until later. Sorry guys -- maybe someone else can grab them.

Local only was confirmed awhile back in Famitsu iirc. Don;t see why Aksys would add it for the US release either, this is a pretty niche title.

Dodgeball Advance was a game I played a lot on the GBA, great news. :D

Hopefully it won't be as easy -- that was the only problem with the gba game.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Definitely good news. Though, my only thing would be, how would they handle a dubbing effort? If it was basically going to be a RCR-dubbing, I can understand that, but I would probably still need the JP version for more straight Kunio-related goodness.

Even so...great news for those who won't stand to import like myself.

Did anyone else read the title as "Dragonball DS being localized"? >_>

Anyway, this is good news. Super Dogeball Advance was the first GBA game I ever bought, and I had a lot of fun with it.

I wish there was a console version of this. When I was a kid playing this on the NES it made me feel very Patriotic sticking it to the Soviet Union in there house. Lame I know.:D

This is great news. Part of me was fearing it wouldn't come here, but now I can rejoice. Aksys is 2 for 2 now (the other part is bringing Guilty Gear Accent Core here), so they're now on my list of favorite publishers.

If there's wifi play, I am DOWN with this game.

.....so is there?

I thought it was already covered by earlier in the thread...

On the bright-side, there still is single-cart/download play through wireless too. If that means anything to ya...

What is the name of the Japanese version and is it out?

JP Title: Cho Nekketsu Koukou Kunio-Kun Dodge Ball Bu (translates to something like a "Super Hot-Blooded High School Kunio Dodge Ball Club")

DOR: N/A (It's not out yet).

Personally, I find it interesting that Aksys is planning to bring the game out in Spring 2008, when the original JP release is slated for around that time frame too (at least, according to Sporsk's lil talk with a PR rep back at TGS 07).

Either they're expecting a quick turn-around time for translation, or maybe they know something about the game's JP release date, which they're choosing not to elaborate on, for whatever reason...

Again, I can't stress it enough: whatever way that they choose to translate this game, I just hope they do it in a decent fashion. Atlus' English translation for Dodge Ball GBA was certainly laughable in some places...

Shame it isn't WFC enabled.. but if there's at least some good local (download play) multiplayer I'll probably pick this up.

I think it was just a bit too much to hope for. First of all, while Kunio-kun is still fairly popular in Japan, Million (Technos Japan re-born), is NOT a large team of developers, nor is Arc Systems, their new backer, a large publisher. When you don't have the kind of money to really pour into something like maintaining a WiFi network for your game, it just doesn't happen.

Maybe, through ASW, Million will get the chance to really be able to expand. Because while their time with Atlus was nice, it wasn't nice enough, to the point that Million was able to concentrate on doing more of what they wanted to do.
