Grew up with this and I still don't like the taste. Can't beat a Jarritos Sangria Senorial. Perfection in soda form.

I used to drink these too, and wondered why I gained weight.

It has like 3x+ the sugar of a Pepsi or Coke or what have you.

Abali is my favorite made in the USA brand. I prefer regular flavor, not a huge fan of mint doogh.

anyone else a fan? great option for those of you looking to kick classic sodas like coke or pepsi and who love all that is savory. yogurt soda has all sorts of health benefits. protein, calcium, potassium etc.

I've only had the mint (bought from a middle eastern market) and I wasn't a fan. Is the regular flavor anything like Calpico, because I can drink that on occasion and actually enjoy it.

As far as soda goes, I prefer ginger ale. I sometimes will keg a five gallon batch (made with 2 lbs of ginger, 2 thai bird chilis, 0.5 lbs of dark brown sugar and green peppercorns). It's not that sweet and the chili peppers add a touch of spice that I really like. My wife is experimenting making a lime lemongrass soda (only making a simple syrup version to add to soda water) before she kegs a batch.

We primarily drink homebrew however. I try to have a session ale on tap that has about 3% abv so we don't get wasted when we drink 3 beers. I really enjoy Berliner Weiss, saisons or a session IPAs over soda anyway (as I am not really a fan of sweet flavors, I tend toward sour or bitter for beverages).

Yogurt Drink / Doh

Ingredients

1/2 cup yogurt whey or plain whole-milk yogurt
1/2 cup club soda
1 tablespoon lemon juice , fresh or more to taste
1 teaspoon mint leaves dried
1/2 teaspoon salt , or more to taste
Ice cubes, for serving

Directions:
Combine the yogurt whey, club soda, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, mint and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a small pitcher or glass and stir to mix. Correct the seasoning, adding salt or lemon juice to taste. Pour into a tall glass over ice to serve.

I finally tried a yoghurt beverage at a kebab place in Switzerland. I kind of liked the sour Flavor, but this one wasn't carbonated. It would have been a lot more refreshing.

You'll find this yogurt drink in LA, easily. Just look for Persian grocery stores. LA is filled with em.
