Does anybody use the communal coffee spoon?

lmao, this got me pretty good

There's no way around using it though. That still would bother me. Someone has done something nasty to that spoon. That's a guarantee.

How are you so sure? It's a pretty small, nice coffee shop. Unless you mean employees, but the owner is usually there and they have 2 employees working at the same, at the most.

Anyway, that really doesn't bother me at all. I have other shit on my mind to be worrying about a spoon. Not dismissing your issue with it though.

It's best to always carry one in your case.

People are nasty, that's why I was sure. I guess it's a possibility that no one has. I hope the best for you.

I use it to swirl boiling water in my cup from the previous day, sterilizing both. And then I use it to mix in sugar. Also we use metal spoons.

We use these over here

there's one in almost every home lol

We...we have a metal spoon. Several, actually. People rinse them off when they're finished with them and so do I.

I also use an office coffee cup. I wash it at the end of the day. If I worked with a bunch of scoundrels I'd probably bring my own shit, though.

I use the communal spoon for eating my lunch. I like to absorb my coworker's germs so that I can build an immunity to them. But I clean it afterwards so none of them can absorb my germs. This way I help guarantee a healthier future by better securing a place for my genes to flourish as they all die off from illness.

This is solid advice. I'm gonna go lick it.

I've put worse things in my mouth than a communal spoon that has been used a hundred times to stir coffee. So, yes. If it is available I'll use it. But lately I'm drinking my coffee without sugar, so...

This is the weirdest thing I've heard of in weeks. People in my office don't use spoons for coffee and if they did they would take a clean one from the drawer.

+1 for drinking coffee (espresso) black. If you need a spoon to stir, just keep one, preferably reusable, in your desk so you don't have to deal with coworkers nasty shit.

I've never heard of this but it sounds disgusting. At my work we have a box of plastic straws, if ever we run out ill use the side arm of my glasses, probably not the most sanitary choice but I'd rather it be my germs than someone elses. I once saw a customer use the pen for the debit card device to stir their coffee, yuck.

That's for putting the coffee in the filter though. These freaks are talking about sharing a stirring spoon to stir cream and sugar into their finished coffee.

There's a guy in my office who uses his own spoon, but I am pretty sure it has never, ever been washed. See below:

I worked with a guy like that. Only it was his coffee cup that he never washed.

I've never encountered this. Ever. Including an office where they decided they didn't want to pay for coffee any more so employees had to bring their own coffee and cups. The company still provided plastic spoons and coffee stirrers for everybody.

Nobody seems to have a problem with it here. lol

...Well, first of all, being British, I drink tea....but this strikes me as even worse than the British version which is to use a teaspoon and then put it in a cup of water near the kettle.

Just rinse the damned thing under a tap and put it in the drying rack, it takes, like, two seconds, people. If we all did it there would be no need for the cup of 42 spoons on the kitchen counter while NONE ARE IN THE DRAWER.

Yeah, I don't really care. I work in a small office. I drink my coffee black most of the time, but if I decide to add a bit of creamer in, I'll run the communal spoon under the water and do a quick stir.

Just in case anyone wanted an update. The spoon was looking extra grotie today. Yes. It's the same one.

There is 0 point infinite string of zeroes percent chance I'm using that spoon. I will use another, and absent that, I will put sugar in the cup before the coffee, and slowly add coffee as I swirl the cup around to allow the sugar to mix with the hot liquid.

You drink your men black?

I like my coffee like I like my men. BLACK cherry whipped frappucchino mochiato with a squeeze of brewed cinnamon glaze with whipped cream from the cows of the netherlands.

Also your office to broke to buy like a pack of 500 wood stirrers for less than $10?

We're just trying to save the planet apparently.

Tell your boss to buy the fucking sticks. If he refuses say "You want to talk about extra costs?! I just keyed your car, now let's talk about extra costs!

My boss has a coffee cup that he reuses every day that I am not sure if it has ever been washed. It has a crust formed on the lid. I gag whenever I see it.

No way will I use a communal coffee spoon. I know my coworkers. They are gross.

My previous job had a machine that did pretty much everything, and there were disposable stir sticks near each machine on every floor. My current job does have a communal spoon sitting on the counter all day, but I drink my coffee black anyways.

No. I always just take another spoon and rinse it afterward. By the time I get to the kitchen for my coffee, the communal spoon is already drying out and looks gross.

I brew my own coffee and keep it in a thermos on my desk on days where I go into the office. No way am I drinking the office swill, nor will I share utensils with people riddled with God knows what.
