Does anyone choose to wake up extremely early?

Because college takes up a lot of my day, and it sucks the energy out of me for the remainder of the day, I'm thinking of going to bed early and waking up at 5:30AM every morning, so I can squeeze in exercise/dog-walking/breakfast/other stuff without having to cram it in between school hours. I have to wake up at 6:30am for two school days, anyway, for the commute.

Does anyone do this? Anyone tried doing it?

I don't try... I do it every morning whether I want to or not

Weekdays... 6am
Weekends 7-8am

I blame 1st shift office work.

goto sleep around 1-2am, always wake up around 4am no matter what...

some days I opt to stay up for the remainder of the business day, other days, I get up for an hr or 2 to browse the net, then go back to sleep until 8am or later on weekends...

I wake up at about 3:15 - 3:40 AM every weekday (I work a 5:30 - 2:30 shift) and get some other work done prior to heading out in the morning.

On weekends, however, I usually sleep a few hours later than that. The downside is that I usually go to bed around 8:30- 9:30, which I recognize is lame.

I have to get up at 4:00AM every morning to go to work. I guess since I applied for the job, I chose to do so.

Err.....I don't think any human being can survive on that schedule. 2 hours of sleep is basically no sleep, how do you manage to not sleep for a week?

it's not that i don't sleep...some nights i snag about 2hrs, but other nights, the sleep cycle is punctuated by a couple hours of waking really early in the morning before going back to sleep again.

weekends I get about 6~8hrs regularly

I start work at 7:30 most days, and I'm too tired to do exercise when I get home, so I run in the mornings instead. I wake up at 5:00 6 days a week, the other day being a sleep in.

Some mornings it sucks getting up so early when I just want to sleep, but I feel a lot better for the rest of the day.

It's possible for some, I've done it before but I can only do it for a week before it fucks me up. I have a friend who sleeps 3-4 hours a day.

5am during the week. So I have about 2 hrs before I have to got to work. the gf gets up at 5 so I started doing the same. Gives me a chance to do homework or play games.

7am on weekends because my cat scratches at the door until one of us gets up.

Other than Christmas and saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid, I don't think I've ever gotten up early for something that could wait until later.

i woke up at 7:45AM today, its Saturday no school. My day felt long i am hoping i can wake up at 7 AM tomorrow . this is shocking to me because i usually wake up at 11AM-12PM on the weekends. Don't get me started on summer vacation :lol

I enjoy mornings. If I wake up after 9 I feel I've wasted the day.

I enjoy evenings. If i goto bed before 5am i feel like i've wasted the night.

one thing i can't fucking stand is the way laziness is tied in to sleeping through mornings. i personally have no love for mornings, and given the option will sleep between 7am-12pm every day - the amount of 'lazy ass' fire this draws from the 'bed at 11 up at 7' crowd and general social consensus is totally out of line with the fact i spend way, way less time in bed than anyone i know with a conventional sleeping pattern.

Exactly the same.. it seems like every morning, I gradually become half-awake and start wondering what time it is. If I look over and there's a 5 I know I really didn't sleep well. If it's a 6, that's about normal.

this is kind of going on a tangent, but about a week ago (the day after halloween, to be exact) I fell asleep at the wheel while driving to work and rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light.

I got home the night of halloween at around 2:30 after heavy drinking and partying, popped a couple of excedrins (my foolproof trick of never getting hangovers) and went to sleep for an hour. Got up, got ready to work, and just passed out at the wheel. Never even knew what hit me. I'm always struggling not to fall asleep while driving, but usually I am able to feel the drowsiness creep up and shake it off. This time, my body just shut down.

Thankfully no one was hurt, but it made me reconsider my lifestyle. Seeing how I get up so early, I vowed to never go out if I am working the following morning.

No no no. Only when I have to. 6:30am is early enough for me to walk the dog and take a shower before heading to work.

I try to wake up at 6am as much as possible. College does take up so much time. so a few extra hours in the mourning to ball on the nuggets or swing in a cross or two on tottenham does wonders to morale.

problem is i go to bed so late thanks to late classes (especially labs). So waking up at 6 is damn near impossible sometimes.

Same, though I don't work, just school and working out, and weekdays are around 5:30am sometimes.

It's awesome beating the sunrise.

Unless there is a holiday or I am sick on something, I usually try to be awake between 7 - 8 AM on weekdays, unless I have to do something early in the lab.

But, on weekends... 10:30 AM or so on Saturdays and about noon on Sundays.

I am usually in bed by 1:00 - 1:30 AM every night or so...

I do this when I am in Vegas sometimes - usually happens inadvertently on the first night or two while I am still adjusting to the time change. So, I guess I don't really choose to wake up early.

I like to go down to the casino around 5 am, when it is almost completely empty. Generally, the only people down there are the compulsive gamblers and half-drunk stragglers wandering in from a wild night at the clubs. Some interesting people watching to say the least.

I've tried switching to an early-morning routine before -- to do the whole exercise/productivity thing, but I couldn't stick with it. Just wasn't me. :lol

When I was in college I used to have to set my alarm for noon, otherwise I wouldn't wake up until late afternoon.

Now that I've been working full time for a few years, I naturally wake up just after 5 AM.

Sometimes I get up early, around 5:30-6:00. I like watching the sunrise.

Other times I don't, though. Primarily because of laziness and sleepiness.

I work nightshift and finish at 5:30, so I usually go to sleep at 6:00 AM and wake up between 10-11:00 AM.

The earlier I wake up, the earlier I have to go to sleep. I would love to wake up really early every morning like I used to when I was in highschool, but it's basically impossible to do it with university assignments and midterms and whatnot without going insane.

High school was kind of weird, when you think about it. When you are in school, it seems like you were there for the entire day. Then you get out, and it is still only like 2:30 pm and you have most of the day ahead of you.

Not extremely early, but I'm always up by 7:30, regardless of what time I went to sleep, despite the fact than I'm an unemployed sack of crap currently in the process of failing out of community college.

I've got several reasons. I absolutely love being all alone early in the morning, I have no idea why. Some of my favorite memories are waking up at 4am before high school to drink dr pepper and play Warcraft II.

The more pressing reason, however, is that if I'm asleep past 9am I start to get unbelievably horrible nightmares every time. While that does suck, I also get waaaay more instances of sleep paralysis, etc

I wake up at 5am everyday (4am on monday) and In bed by 11...saturday I usually stay up a bit longer and I'll sleep in sometimes on sundays.

Yeah I always wake up at 5:30 so I can hit the gym early. I dont mind waking up early, I hate feeling like I didnt make the most out of my day.

10am for me, and any earlier than that means I take a nap after classes~

I really want to train myself to get up early, though~ I eat healthy and exercise regularly, but sleeping in has always been my vice

Fuck no. My body runs from about 11am-3am. I'm forced to get up way too early most of the week because of goddamn work. If I can sleep in I take every advantage of that.

I'm kinda like this. If I could, I would naturally wake up at 10 AM and go to bed at 2 AM. Late night is like my personal time. No traffic, no lines at the supermarket, plus it's the perfect time to play whatever game I'm currently into (Fallout 3).

Waking up too early makes me a zombie for the rest of the day. I will feel queasy til about noon. Nothing I can do about it. It's my circadian rhythm I guess.
