Does anyone else never remember dreams?

I didn't want to phrase the title as "Does anyone else never dream?," since, yeah, I'm sure I dream. Science and psychology and all of that would likely say so, whatever.

But, in the 31 years that I've been alive, I honestly don't recall ever having remembered a dream. Not while I was having it, not when I've woken up, not even as just a fleeting memory - nothing. When I go to sleep, I sleep, and I wake up in the morning, and that's pretty much the end of it.

It's never really bothered me too much. I mean, my sister told me about a time when she spent all night dreaming about working... And then had to wake up and go to work. That would be horrible. I'm sleeping to get sleep,

So, am I just some weird freak of nature, or what?
Granted, I might be a weird freak of nature regardless, but nonetheless

i never do. i figure it's because i'm really deep asleep. sometimes remember the ones i have early in the morning, but typically forget them within a few minutes

I tend to remember dreams better when I'm not stressed, not overly tired, et cetera. When I'm on vacation and sleeping in is when I tend to remember my dreams.

I know I dream, because sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking, "oh man, that was an amazing dream" and then I wake up having forgotten what it was about.

I'm happy that I remember a lot of them, often in great detail.

One of my latest:
I was watching some kind of media (tv/newspaper), and a former prime minister of Norway, Kjell Magne Bondevik, came on. This is him:

He said that he had thought up a plan to create a million new jobs in western Norway. The plan was to let workers tie together two pikes (a huge fish) using an eel.

A million people would do this, and produce pike-eel-things in enormous numbers. These would then presumably be sold to someone.

Dude, keep a dream diary!

I've kept one since 19/01/2013. Got 17 entries. What I do is keep a notepad or Word document to file all my dreams to my best recall abilities. As soon as I feel in control near the end of the dream and about to wake up, I try to go over the events as a recap in my mind, then wake up and start writing on a piece of paper to then expand on the laptop.

That would require me having any memory of them to begin with, or to be aware of them at all.

There was like a 10 period of my life where I didn't remember any dreams. And then I *poof* I remembered one. This was a few years ago. It was an insane feeling. I've forgotten that dream now LOL.

I have a friend who claims he has never remembered any of his dreams. He has chronic sleep problems too but I am not completely sure if that is related.

I've been slumming around the same neighborhood in my dreams lately. There's an Arby's and a gas station and then a dock to the river. A couple of friends of mine were heading down to Freaknik and I was trying to go with, and was telling them to stop at random liquor store\gas stations on the way down, but finally remembered I had no money, so suddenly I'm in a car dropping one of them off at a stop light and he's like '....man...goddammit y r u so broke?'

I remember my dream last night or at least a part of it. Was focused on some girl's butt in high cut shorts. Now just waiting for warmer weather so I can make that dream a reality.

It's rare for me to recall my dreams. Those that I do remember tend to be either lucid, usually from being repeats, or most closely resemble a surrealist art students film project.

Are there any recent studies regarding potential health benefits of dreaming (or lack thereof)?

The ones I've read are hardly conclusive and/or very old.

Do you smoke weed? If you do on the regular it tends to erase memory of your dreams.

I rarely remember my dreams. It's kinda sad cause sometimes I wake up feeling I had a really nice dream but I can't recall it at all :(

For most of my life I didn't remember dreams except for a small few. Then I started thinking about it a lot, and I wanted to start remembering them more. When I started thinking about dreaming more I started remembering my dreams more. I started a dream journal alongside three other journals and there isn't a dream I don't remember anymore. I've reached the point where I can lucid dream at times as well. It's been worth it, I've learned a lot about myself in the process.

I'm 25 for the record.

I never remember dreams, and I'm quite certain it can be attributed to the fact that I smoke pot daily. My lungs have collapsed on two separate occasions, and I had to quit smoking for a while. Both times I quit, I was suddenly able to remember my dreams.

I can usually recall at least one dream each morning. However, if I smoke some pot I usually won't for a day or two. It's what made me realize that it was having an effect on my sleep in some way.

That is sad to hear, remembering dreams and relaying them to people you know is a hilarious event. You can see how you start reconstructing the dream logic to fit a logical narrative during the conversation.

I unfortunately have lucid dreams on a regular basis. I say it's unfortunate because when I awake I'm not rich or flying.

I'll occasionally remember bits and pieces of a dream (usually right when I wake up) but for the most part I don't really remember any dreams.

When I go to sleep, I sleep, and I wake up in the morning, and that's pretty much the end of it.

Every now and then I will wake up remembering a dream or two I had, but this is the case for me 95% of the time. Go to sleep, blank, and wake up.

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I always see people talking about their dreams, and would never see anyone saying that they didn't remember theirs, and had started to think I was just really strange.

I'm still really strange

I have to get to my dreams to remember them. Sadly my mind would rather fight me instead.

^^ This shit makes me never want to sleep again.
Protip never open your eyes it leads to madness. I'm not sure what hallucination sits on my chest and beats the ever living shit out of me but last time I opened my eyes I almost had a heart attack. It felt like the darkness was going to swallow me whole when I woke up. You'd think after 10 years I'd be used to it, but I don't think you can get used to it.

On topic I remember my dreams occasionally, when I do they are vivid.
