So I recently got a Vitamix (Pro 500) in an effort to become healthier through veggies and fruits. The mentality is, well, I just spent a ton of money so I better use it.

After Thanksgiving I am going to start a detox to get back on track, the general consensus is just start with a weekend.

Anyone who has done or routinely does juice/smoothie/detox, what resources do you use? What are your favorite/most effective recipes?

Thanks

you detoxify your body peeing, so drinking water or this juice will have the same meaning to the amount of toxins in your body

what tox are you trying to de

All of them

I guess "reset" or something in that vein would have worked just as well as detox. I want to flush all of the holiday beers and sweets and fats away and just eat/drink right for a few days to get back on track.

Detox has got to be the most annoying fake science sounding marketing term health companies came up with. Eat your veggies, exercise, live a low stress life style, and you will be healthy and outlive all your friends.

Toxins are no joke.

Look at how they travel through the body:

Major life hack here:

If it's a dieting fad that is growing in popularity,

It's mostly bullshit.

Eat a salad and drink more water.

That's not how it works. And you answered your own problem. Eat/drink right and your problems will go away. Like that other posted said above. lead a healthy lifestyle.

Man toxins can be very poisonous, even bee sting toxins can cause a ton of problems in the wrong place. If you've been poisoned you should go to the doctor, not just take vitamins.

Detoxing by juicing or any other not-normal diets is totally BS. Just eat healthy, normal food and your body will do all the necessary "detoxing" that it needs to do through its normal bodily functions.

I mean, your body has a liver, kidneys, white blood cells & such that function as your body's own "detoxing" methods and you don't need to go on some "pure" diet with "no toxins" to get rid of some shit that gets into your body. Your body will get rid of all the shit normally, assuming your liver & kidneys & such are working normally. If you've been drinking and poisoning your body with alcohol, your liver should be enough to metabolize it within some hours (depends on how much you drink), but you don't need to go on some 2 week juice "detox diet" to get rid of alcohol.

lol "detox"
its just vitamins. many people don't get the equivalent nutrients of 12oz of vegetable juice at most meals, especially breakfast, so the vitamins and hydration give you more "energy", especially effective in the mornings.

I generally just make green juice (kale, spinach, chard, cucumber) with apple or pineapple juice and spices (turmeric, cayenne). low sugar with balanced nutrients.
for smoothies I just use bananas, spinach, and almond milk with whatever berries and nuts/protein supplements I have. if you need sugar add honey or maple syrup.

instead of juicing to detox don't eat or drink anything at all for 3 weeks. Your body will be forced to turn the toxins into fuel getting rid of them forever!

if you are going to detox, drink your juices while getting acupuncture so the toxins have pores to escape from

I would avoid anything related to detoxing specifically and just make yourself smoothies with fruits and veggies blended in each day. Hide broccoli, carrots, kale (don't do this, use spinach or chard or something), avocados, whatever you have on hand. Blueberries and raw oats blend well together. Try homemade yogurt to cut down on sugar.

There's no need to reset your body, to strip the built up toxins or anything of that sort.

Why don't you try eating healthier foods instead of trying to find the easy way out by using pseudoscience to justify drinking smoothies.

I think the OP wrote a bad title so people are mistanding him, because what he wants to know is anyone has any good recipies to do with his blender machine that he bough.

My advice for OP : start slow with simple recipies like juice with a fruit that you like put ice and water then mix it because the difference bewtewn natural juice and super market juice can be really hard to take because of amount of sugar will be totally different.

Anyway, I wish you luck with your diet/change habit of eating and it's good thing that you bought that machine, drinking natural juices/soup is way better than buying them and will help your body to get healthy.

I got a Vitamix as a present, it's a damn good blender (better be for that price) but the whole detox thing is bs. Use it to make healthy breakfast smoothies; milk, greek yogurt, some fruit, almonds, yeast, chia seeds, 100% chocolate.. soo good. Cheaper blenders would just make chunky smoothies.

Yep, thanks.

This isn't a lifestyle thing, It is something I am doing to just jump start things back on a healthy track after the holidays. I am looking for some good recipes and ideas to start off with.

it's not really healthy by any stretch, but i do one occasionally in the blender.

I used frozen mixed berries, (thawed) and add a banana. if it's too thick add a liquid (used to use apple juice, now use almond milk). I'll sometimes add vanilla or some spice (cinnamon or ginger).

You do realize that a detox isn't a real thing, right? If you really want to get healthy, you have to make a lifestyle change, out can't just be something you do temporarily.

Oh god, I am bailing out on this thread. Let the nonreaders/doctors have it all to themselves

Are you considering it not healthy because of sugars or something else?

Detox is bullshit. Smoothies are really nice, mainly because they taste godlike. If you can afford it, I would just buy one for everyday. Should take care of your vitamin needs. Other than that, ff you lack vitamins, just eat fruits or take some vitamin pills.

Is it really unfair to keep pointing it out? Like, your OP really does make it at least seem that you believe detoxing is a thing. You talk about this as some jump start thing (reading the OP - mentioning the weekend - and your reply to that one guy) and people just point out that it doesn't work that way.

People are just confused about why you would want to do that.

I understand wanting good recipes, but really, it's quite reasonable that people are confused.
