Does Anyone Juice to Detox?

Are you considering it not healthy because of sugars or something else?

Yup, it's not even close to being low calorie at all -- especially if you use apple juice or vanilla bean paste. Depending on OPs sugar tolerance, it may be too bitter if the banana isn't super ripe or large enough, thus requiring more. Sure, it's better than a Coke or a store-bought juice, but unless your goal is to just eat more fruits or less processed things, it's not going to help a lot. It is, however, quite tasty!

It's mostly about veggies though, right?

Oh god, I am bailing out on this thread. Let the nonreaders/doctors have it all to themselves
I'm not trying to embarrass you, I'm concerned that you aren't doing anything to make yourself healthier in the long term. You're probably going to use the blender for a few months, and maybe you'll get a bit healthier, but eventually you'll probably get tired of it and stop.

If you want to lose weight, you need to eat less calories. If you want to grow muscle, you have to eat more calories and work out. If you're happy with your body and just want to eat healthier foods, then do and research and change your diet. You can't just eat whatever you want and then do a "cleanse" to make yourself feel better, it doesn't work like that.

If you are really interested in getting healthy, go to r/fitness (https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/), it's a fantastic place to learn everything you know about getting healthy. At least read the FAQ, it has a lot of fantastic information and only takes 20 minutes to read.

Detox?

Do grinding fruits and vegetables so that the consistency changes to form that you're able to drink?

No, I just eat them.

My mom sometimes does smoothie meals with kale green apple lime celery abd maybe a couple other things. She says it's good but I think it's nasty

Mine was all fruit + plus maybe some liquid. Like i said, it's healthier than a Coke, and tasty, but if part of your goal is to lose weight, it's not the best option.
If it's all fruit then no, haha.
We sometimes make popsicles from different berries.
Just blend all of them and freeze them in a popsicle shape. Delicious.

fasting probably works for inducing autophagy (a probably-beneficial self-regulatory mechanism where less functional biological material like cell organelles and stuff are broken down and recycled) if that's the kind of thing you're referring to. if that's the case then just fast, it's not like a three day fast or something is going to kill you and there's no need to make it complicated.

All of them

I guess "reset" or something in that vein would have worked just as well as detox. I want to flush all of the holiday beers and sweets and fats away and just eat/drink right for a few days to get back on track.

Your kidneys do that. Just drink water. Detoxing is a myth. If you want to start a new diet by going on a smoothie kick, go for it. But detoxing is just a buzzword.

Throw a frozen banana or two in there, as much spinach or kale as you want (the sweetness of the banana will hide the bitterness of the greens), some almond milk/water/other liquid and whatever else you want really (frozen berries, nuts and seeds, vegetables, cocoa powder, cinnamon etc.) and mix that shit. Experiment with ingredients and proportions till you find what you like.

I see, news to me :) Well kinda. My gf drinks that stuff more and more at breakfast so I was curious just how fruitful, heh, it is.

So I recently got a Vitamix (Pro 500) in an effort to become healthier through veggies and fruits. The mentality is, well, I just spent a ton of money so I better use it.

After Thanksgiving I am going to start a detox to get back on track, the general consensus is just start with a weekend.

Anyone who has done or routinely does juice/smoothie/detox, what resources do you use? What are your favorite/most effective recipes?

Thanks

I don't believe in detoxing but my fiance also has a Vitamix and it blends the FUUCK out of stuff.

We get any combination of these things/flavors and make smoothies:

and if you want more greens add some of these:

Also if you want to say fuck it and keep drinking, the vitamix makes the best:
