So he his beams are harmless to his own body? How does that work. I remember in the cartoon that his beams didnt hurt Havok either. Why?
Some times mutants related to each other are immune to each other's powers

Wait, I never thought about this, but what stops villains from just using a shield made of the same material as his filter to just nullify his power?

Who has the worst canonical mutant power?
Ginger kid has the power to explode....one time because it will kill him.
It shouldn't be that hard for professor X to include a voice recognition into the visor sensor.

Well yeah, that Whedon run is basically one long love letter to Cyclops.

Does he have eye lashes? If so why don't they get burned off?
"Siri, fire the laser!"
"I'm sorry Cyclops, I don't know what you mean by briar my tazer"
So he doesn't need the visor anymore?
Does he ever get to control it without external assistance? He didn't for the rest of that storyline. Basically, Emma was psychically helping him keep his powers turned off so that the enemy you see in the first panel would think he was depowered and capture him, thereby letting him get close enough to tear down their whole operation. Emma couldn't keep it going forever, though, so by the end of the storyline, he had to put the visor back on.

How do the eyelids hold the beam?
His whole body is able to absorb and contain the blasts without taking damage, so closing his eyes works fine.
So can he shave like Superman?
his optic blasts aren't supposed to be hot apparently.
I always thought his eyes were always firing, and the visor had a filter that stopped it which needs to be turned off by hand to let his beam through.

Only if Cyclops has to yell, "CYCLOPS!" to trigger his eye-beam

Can the beam be reflected?
