Does Dragon Age Inquisition have the lushest foliage yet seen?

Those Ryse shots look really nice.
Far cry 4 is open world though. That has to count for something.

No it doesn't, since the question is which game has the lushest foliage. An open world game pulling it off may be more impressive technically as a whole, but it doesn't make the foliage look any better.

Ryse is pretty damn good. Actually anything Crytek does when it comes to foliage and density can't be beat
That's an in game screenshot of the PC version? Damn... We have a winner.

Ok i see a lot of modded stuff here. Either we discuss about vanilla versions or we can pretty much start posting some pacman mods in forrest level with tons of foliage...

Those skyrim pics have literally nothing to do with the official game...
Are those Crysis pictures disqualified then in your mind? I don't think they should just because of TOD changes. No models or textures have been changed in those images.

It seems to be official screenshot from 2013. So it's console screenshot.
Why does it even matter if it's from PC version in this context?

That's insane. I can only imagine the kind of budget needed to create a whole game like that. I wonder if we'll ever see an RPG with that kind of graphic fidelity.

Just feels like the kind of game CryTek should have bet the farm on rather than slow death by shitty f2p games.

I don't think MODS should count. Put the game up in it's natural state, not one altered by someone else.

I think they should count because that's how many people play the game. Just because certain systems can't use mods doesn't mean they don't exist. Especially when the developers themselves have released the tools to do them.

Yes they shouldnt count. I have played crysis maxed. That picture is not how the game looks like in its official released state.

It's a Time of Day mod. The vegetation is very dense in many areas in Crysis.

Vanilla. Not even maxed out.

and some with ToD changed, vegetation the same.

And those are just screens I took years ago on an outdated rig, again, not at max settings.

Crank it to max and mods and you get a whole different story.

I love how dense the foliage can be on the current-gen versions of GTA V. It feels very layered. You have thick grass, flowers of different types, small bushes, larger bushes, small trees, and larger trees all in the same spot.

Uncharted 4 is looking pretty awesome. Not just in look and density, but interactions. Here's a screencap from the compressed video, so it's not a perfect look but it's still really nice.

I would also love an rpg with that graphical fidelity, who wouldnt? As long as it is not made by Crytek. Cant remeber the last time these guys released something worthwhile...

Maybe it's just me, being my "Lets unify in awesome reality." me... but I just kind of want to sit back and bask in how amazing realtime rendering has become. Around 2005 we made a huge freaking leap in realtime rendering tech and creation methods.

We're just now getting the hardware capability to show off just how far those creation methods have come.

We live in an amazing technical age my friends. Even Bioware games can now have not only great looking characters, but also great looking environments. When before you would pick and chose.

Yes, I think the way Crytek utilized the tech of CryEngine through all of its variations are psychotically impressive. But we are now in an era where freaking Bioware can have impressive characters and environments. Even the impressive portions with them (ME series) the character models were marred by some imperfections (In ME1 Garrus face texture is like 256x256 pixels, in ME2 his armor is like 512x512, Ogres in DA2 are crazy low poly) we are now in an era where we get both!

I don't know if I would call it the lushest EVER, but it was really beautiful with the lighting in the Emerald Graves. It's my favorite location in the entire game and I often go there now just to mess around since it's so nice. Obviously for a Dragon Age game they stepped it up a lot and it's great considering that its cross-gen.

I am looking forward to Kingdom Come: Deliverance but it is not going to be a huge AAA RPG.

Kingdom Come is going to be a great walking simulator though.

What ? Warhorse have currently around 70 people and are hiring, Kingdom Come has been in development for more than two years already. Skyrim team had 90 people people. Warhorse are using fully licensed, incl. source code, Cryengine and are collaborating with Cloud Imperium (Star Citizen) on tech. What exactly is missing there from being AAA ?

True but not all games have mods or even have the capability to be modded these days.

That's not really relevant. Just because some developers put the work in to make their game moddable, or because some players are dedicated enough to learn to mod games that don't have official support doesn't discredit the ability of the game too look that good with mods.

What you see on your screen is a lot more important than how it got on your screen.

I think people are making up their own rules now and forgetting what is important which is...
