Does God Hand play well on PS3?

It plays like crap on my PS3, but I have the OG model with the PS2 chip. A bit ironic, that. Why they don't utilize the PS2 chip for PSN titles, I have no idea. If I turn off smoothing it will sort of play, with very obvious control lag.

I have a 60GB. It runs fine on mine.

never played before but i've only heard good things from GAF about this game

now i'm obligated to try it

What is this one? I keep seeing people like it but is it because it's quirky and funny with bad gameplay or just a good game?

It's a good game with unique controls, which you'll need to get used to, and the game has a really steep difficulty curve at the beginning because of that, but it's a very fun action game.

If you like character action games especially those from platinumgames you'll find that there are a lot of influences from god hand when it comes to combat and humor.

It's also quirky and focused more on humor as well than most games.

I've been playing it on an emulator, game is so much fun, ps2/3 ver is 4:3 though.

So what would cause my OG PS3 to choke on this game? This is the only PS2 PSN title I own – I usually buy disc versions because of the built-in PS2 chip. Makes me wonder if all PS2 titles on PSN choke on my system, or just this one. PS1 titles obviously work fine.

This review is all you need.

And to the OP, seriously, just buy it. There are no outstanding flaws on the PSN version over the PS2 version.

... Other than the fact that you can't play PS2 Classics on Vita.

Holy shit, that accent is rad!

Also, God Hand ran great on the PS3. I've heard from speedrunners that there are very specific quirks / bugs exclusive to the PS3 version, but it's nothing noticeable during normal play.

hmm weird, i just tried the first level on my slim and it plays identically on my pc and on the ps. There are some slowdowns (the same as ps2 I think) but nothing huge.

Oh my... not sure I want the hassle of homebrew, but knowing that people have God Hand literally in the palms of their hands is... frightening.

I should clarify regarding my earlier response: I play God Hand using the original PS2 disc on my 60GB (that was what I meant by it playing fine on mine). I have yet to download any PS2 Classics for it, so I'm not sure if the problem might indeed be running the emulated version on a system with full BC. PS1 Classics, however, do work as well as the original discs for me. My apologies for not being more specific earlier.

Ah thanks, that makes more sense. Right, I'd expect it to run fine with a disc version since the PS3 basically runs as a full PS2 in that mode. I guess I'll have to just avoid PS2 titles on PSN from now on.

Its quirky and funny and also a good game.
The combat is extremely satisfying and the combo creation is a lot of fun with a ton of unlockable moves. Its also a game where one of your specials is pummeling dudes in the face while a knock off of the Hawaii Five 0 theme blares, and thats pretty fucking rad.
