Most people would say the direction of the game itself is the problem, not much you can do to fix that.

Absolutely. Remakes are fine for games that are already great, but even better for games that have a kernel of greatness but are brought down by fixable flaws.

5 deserves it before 6, Code Veronica too IMO. But remaking 6 is really about undoing the disastrous original and should be a completely new gameplay experience.

6 no. Its beyond salvation. Way too bloated, terrible characters and all of their arcs sucked. Awful plot, even for an RE. Gameplay of 6 is already modernized unlike 5. Its ironically enough not in dire need of a remake unless its a way different RE6.

5 with updated controls should be an excellent co-op game. Problematic would be using its setting again. But it was actually a great fun mercs and co-op game when it came out.

I'd even say it's more deserving of a remake than all the others. A remake is the opportunity to fix the broken mess that the original game was.


While RE4R is great, RE4 never truly needed it.

They need to drop Coop in a potential re 5 and re6 remake. That was one of its problems.

As a resident evil game it wasn't my cup of tea, but I still had a fair amount of fun with it as a action game, (plus any game with Ada in it has got to get a few positive points)

Would much Prefer zero, original re and cv remakes.

I think 6 would benefit THE most from a remake tbh. 6 has a ton of great ideas,brought back that same gross body horror mutations from 2-3-CV that were annoyingly absent in 4-5, ambitious multi campaign design. BUT it lacked the survival horror and complex level design.
So a remake could make the game into a cohesive whole, bring it back in line with 2 or 4's remake, give each section time to shine and tone down the wackyness.

5 & 6 don't need remakes. They're both the weakest of the mainline RE games and should be left in the past.

CV needs a remake, but Dino Crisis should come first for the remake treatment.

They actually have to make coop feel like an RE game in 5 before they can even make me approve of 6. Otherwise just make it like Separate Ways or RE2 B side story where there are multiple protagonist but told on different POVs.

RE4 already leaned a lot on action and is very much tip toeing the line between survival horror. RE5 was already way over the edge and the mission structure is just kill people in this area and go to the next one but that can be fixed in the remake. RE6 is too much. Basically non-existent inventory management, perks and over the top gun-fu. The only smidgen of horror was the very first part of Leon's and Ada's but only because there's no coop on that scenario. A remake of that would be a huge undertaking that gets the story nowhere.

Remember the sequel tease that you only get if you finish all the scenarios? Basically a dead end story once RE7 came out. RE6 is such a huge undertaking that I believe it wouldn't be until next gen that we even have a chance of seeing it. They basically have to remake all the systems as well as the story to get in line with existing canon.

RE4 already proved that they aren't willing to fix their shitty stories and characters from the the TPS era so I don't see how a remake would be of any of value to RE6 if they aren't going to rework those elements. That game's entire plot needs to be rewritten since the only thing that worked was Sherry and Jake.

I think they should/will avoid that era of Resident Evil. 5,6, Operation Raccoon City, Revelations, ect. I do think they should complete and enhance Resident Evil 1.5 as a new classic RE tho

I replayed it a few years back. Enjoyed it more than the first time around but I knew what I was getting into. Hated this game at launch and it killed the franchise for me. 7 saved it thankfully. It could use a full on remake skipping and streamlining alot of bs from the original. Make it tight with just a few playable characters.

RE6 is terrible, I think it's worth it to do a full remake and actually turn what is there into a good game. They can rewrite anything and everything as far as I'm concerned.
