Having a preference towards one skin color or another doesn't make a person racist.

it's true. small enclaves that form inside of the subcommunities of homosexuals that are spread all over the country, and those communities are often not that diverse at all. Blacks get the thug treatment, or they're considered promiscuous, or untrustworthy, or even dangerous because of the AIDS thing. Or just plain ole undesirable.

edit: unless you're of a certain type, like the dude Lenny Kravitz as Cinna.

It's only really true in regards to the ethnic minorities in the gay community.

Do you mean, all the minorities ( even though thinking about it that doesn't quite make sense because one race of people aren't less gay than other, but let's humor the term for the sake of argument) are disliked.

Or its dislike amongst themselves

"No blacks or Asians plz!"

Is so common it's just... I can't
Oh sis, I see that everywhere. All the struggles in the world, I cannot. But I guess it's more... common in ethnic groups themselves? Most of the minority gays I know are simply not open to dating so and so for their race. They tend to skew more towards White gays.

What I meant was that minorities tend to favor Whites in the gay community.

I would never do a vybz kartel, ever... I have too much self-esteem for that. Although not gunna lie, growing up I always had an obsession with lighter skinned ladies. Tan to Pale was the barometer for me. Sad as it sounds.

I don't know if thats indicative of "Society" or some misguided notion I created for myself that made a certain colour of skin appealing.

Travelling to different parts of the world, namely Kenya and Tanzania have changed my own personal insecurities and changed the way I view things.

Yeah. I don't really get the topic question. Are some people just now learning racism exists?

For most people who never bothered to study the subject, "racism" means segregation, slavery, and the KKK, and those things are (legally) over. They aren't really aware of the more subtle and non-legal forms of racism that persist culturally and in the media when it comes to the effects of representation and stereotyping. They just don't know how to analyze media like that and have never been given reason to question the status quo because of course, it benefits them.

It's definetly mostly on white guys' profiles more than other ethnic groups

Jokes on them black people are known for their sensual love making. *purr

Hitch
According to Greta
Hancock
Skyfall
Diamonds are Forever
View to a Kill
Die Another Day
Grown Ups

Right off the top of my head and you see it more prevalent on TV. Either way you're right in that it happens less.
Reading about those relationships it's surprising how often bm/wf relationships fail as opposed to the rest. Very weird.

Ehh, Will Smith had something to say about her casting

http://www.today.com/id/7019342

Eva Mendes was given the role opposite Smith because the moviemakers were worried about the public’s reaction if the part was given to a white or an African American actress, according to Smith.

Is that necessarily a racist thing though? I don't mind dating any woman regardless of race but I do have personal preferences. I dunno anything about the gay community though,

Have you ever noticed evil twins or evil 'alternate versions' of heroes in fiction are discernably darker than their good counterparts?

Good of heart Goku is so pale.

Writing an entire race off because their skin color is racist to me. It's also caused by media culture and how people perceive what is beautiful or not. You almost always see a white gay couple more than you will ever see interracial or other ethnic gays in the media.

Also a lot of those profiles like to our "OMFG IT'S NOT RACIST IT'S JUST A PREFERENCE, STAY OUT PLZ NOT ATTRACTED" pretty ridiculous tbh.

I remember arguing with someone on another forum about this topic and they specifically said, "What if the person has had a bad experience with this person of color and not with this White female? Does their 'preference' make them a racist now?"

Like, that doesn't even make any sense. You're still at fault for generalizing the actions of an entire group of people based on one person.

Smfh. It really is a big problem in the gay community but not everyone wants to talk about this ;__;

Speaking of the taboo of interracial couples in movies

Fun fact: That movie pelican brief starring denzel and julia roberts was meant to have a sex scene between them but denzel declined saying it would ruin his fanbase (which was mostly black)

Hollywood plays it safe for the most part

That actually sounds even more problematic than other cases. If a bad experience makes you fear an entire race, that's a problem.

I can understand not dating "out" if you're doing it for family reasons. Not something I agree with exactly, but I can understand it. But there are plenty of other reasons that are pretty racist.

I honestly think it stems from Hollywood always glamorizing these leading males in movies, television shows, music videos, etc. These males all happen to be White. Minority females are actually a *bit* lucky in this department because they're being represented by the likes of Lucy Liu, Halle Berry, etc. while non-White males get little to no representation in media. It's a bit sad, really. :/

Pretty much.

Yeah like I said earlier the culture and media out there gives this illusion that we're mostly all beautiful hot white males :""( those boys grow up only seeing hot white guys and never any colored men. >_<
