Domino promo shot (Deadpool 2)

Here is another look at her. It looks like the mark on her eye is supposed to be a birthmark??

WHEW.

cold shower needed.

everyone else needs to shut down their white washing bullshit. let the movie character be the movie character. FOH with that comic to screen look. cheesy ass 90's shit.

Like implications aside, she straight up looks worse in those photoshops imo
Been trying to figure out, in words, what makes me like it. I feel like it gives a bit of a Metal Gear type of twist to the original look. She looks more beautiful in the original, but looks more...stylized, I guess, with the color change. I like it in the sense that she looks cool, where in the other one, she is more beautiful, and looks like a person.

However, both are better than the original, IMO. She has a forgettable look, otherwise.

Negasonic literally isn't the same character though, all they wanted was the name. Originally it was Cannonball, hence why she has the different powers. She was basically an original character in Deadpool but with the name of a minor character from the comics solely because the writers liked the name (hey, they traded Ego for it).

And Cannonball is a blonde haired dude in the comics who Nega in the movies still doesn't resemble at all.

This thread is just an economy size roll of reciepts waiting to get pulled when she steals the whole fucking movie out from under Reynolds.

She can steal the show yet not look like domino.

I'll be the first to pull my own receipts but I don't think I ever said I didn't think she would do well.

Whew, Zazzie Beetz is lookin' amazing <3

And I can't say I'm surprised that people seem to not be able to get over her hair. I think it looks amazing and I'm all about black women rockin' natural hair styles.

I mean they changed everyone except Deadpool really.

This is Negasonic in the comics

Francis (Ajax) looks like this in the comics

Angel Dust is just a white girl in a beige trenchcoat and jeans.

These all look really questionable/problematic translating to live action.

Domino is just a Black Widow body suit with face paint. Not only is it simple to pull off, you could easily imagine it looking amazing.

Also did anyone come out of Deadpool praising the movie costumes of the characters you posted?

No one(?) said her performance would be bad though.

We all love Willem Dafoe Green Goblin but his costume still sucks and that will never change for all eternity.

She looks cool, love the hair. I have no idea who the character is and can only imagine Kiera Knightly in her film saying her name and having a seizure of Tony Scott over doing camera effects.

I mean, Negasonic Teenage Warhead has absolutely nothing to do with the comic book character but she was easily the coolest part of the first one. I don't think people are equating faithfulness with overall quality.

But let's not faithfulness isn't a factor worth paying attention to.

I don't like that other Photoshop. Found this one on Twitter, and like it a lot more. Until I saw this, I didn't think a white skinned version (as in color white, not race white) would work.

Aesthetically, I like it a lot. I don't know if I like it more than the other, but both would work out well, IMO. Both give out different feels.

I don't think they would actually ever do it, and for good reason, too. Context behind painting a POC's skin white, is too much. It can't really be ignored.
I think it looks cool, thanks for sharing.

Is it wrong that I get a bit of a Misty Knight vibe more than the original Domino from the comics?

That said, despite wishing for a more comic book accurate look, I can dig this look for her. As another poster said, I think giving her a natural skin tone and then making the eye patch look like vitiligo was a good move probably to make it more palatable to casual audiences.

This costume doesn't suck. The look doesn't suck. The hair doesn't suck. it's going to be a non-issue the second the first frame of her flashes your eyeball in teh theater.

(At least it doesn't suck any worse than the endless variations on lazily designed bullshit that the comics been coughing up for decades now.)

The idea Domino's visual design needs to be adhered to beyond the spot over her eye is baffling to me anyway.

But that's superheroes. I get it. Sometimes it's just a thing that tweaks your nerves and you can't get over it.

So in closing:

FUUUUUCK Tony Stark.

I would have liked to see the total inverse of Domino since they cast a black actress, instead of white chick with bleached skin and black eyespot, black chick with black painted skin and white eyespot. Seems they just put an eyespot on her and called it a day. I love some Zazie Beetz, so I'm not worried about her performance, just wish they went for a more extreme/comic look for her character's movie design.

Oh, but where's Batman's white eyes.

I see you.

No one is saying that it needs to be adhered. People just express their preferences. Big fucking whoop

I'm worried, Bobby. This isn't good for your heart.

I would love if Domino straight up had Vitiligo in the movie(complete with some less symmetrical markings elsewhere on the body). I have family that have it, and trust me, dealing with it day-in and day-out is fucking badass.

And what a shoutout to people dealing with it, to have a character in a blockbuster have it.

It would be a cool way to contextualize it.
