Lol. Is this Don Mattrick's legit Facebook account? Wow.

Microsoft should get involved in the crude oil industry because they sure know how to dig deep holes... Honestly though, can shit get any worse for Microsoft right now?

SOny had to deliver bluray player to the living room no matter what. Their arrogance looks foolish but look at whatbthey did. Blu ray is now a household name. What is MS delivering? Kinect?

I don't think the losses were worth it for Blu-Ray. It's not a huge money maker so why burden your gaming console that's bringing in a bit of cash.

And if you read the shares, it's all people going "Haha, look at these comments!"

They really did swap places with Sony. Sony always pulled the "the value of PS3" card last generation when asked about price.

Yeah but Sony was following the most successful console ever and the worst you could say about the PS3 was that it was overpriced. The Xbone on the other hand...

What else are you going to say when you considerably more expensive than the competition? Standard practice is to talk up your value and pretend the other thing doesn't exist. At least Sony could argue that Blu-ray was cutting edge, which it was. The price is the least of their issues to be honest.

Hate trains are hard to stop...real hard. And everybody wants to jump on. It looks like some much fun. I have zero sympathy. Their plan was ill conceived and presented in the sloppiest manner possible.

Every time I read or hear of another unfortunate quote from Don, I feel like the following two things should be together (I'm sure someone more able than I has already made it happen):

If nothing else, MS are sticking to their guns, gotta hand that to them. Maybe if they say it enough, it'll come true, like Candyman.

I also think when customers see the displays/kiosks in the store for Xbox One and PS4, they are going to see what the machine can do, not what it's taking away from you. I feel that MS' list of "can do's" is going to dwarf the PS4's list. Now, if Sony wants to go the marketing route of "Look what our competition is taking away from you.", I don't know if that's the best thing to do. It works in gaming forums and E3 where the majority of people are gamers and are really passionate about these issues, but will the general public really care about the drm/used game/internet functions when Apple/Kindle/phones function in a similar fashion? I don't know.

I know. And the non-gamers on my FB feed know too. I cannot tell you how many have messaged me to ask if this is all really happening. people aren't as stupid or gullible as Microsoft, and perhaps you, would like.

Brutality.

Yep. Sony actually HAD pricey value, which was just too pricey. The console was actually worth the price, but it was too much for the target demographic. Xbone on the other hand, offers restrictions, requires additional hardware to make use of any of its feature, has the weaker hardware AND costs unreasonably more.

Sony 2006 was overconfident, but MS 2013 is just being an ignorant douche.

Not only that, but they seem to firmly believe they are doing nothing wrong.

I mean, I still can't believe how they just served the console market to Sony on a silver platter. There should be a case study about this: "How to Destroy a Global Brand in Half a Year".

True, but you can't deny that these guys keep throwing fuel on the fire as if there was no tomorrow.

Microsoft is "Over-Delivering" on Value that the average gamer doesn't want.
While I'm still getting the next generation 'Xbox One' console when it comes out, it seems Microsoft and the Xbox team have lost touch with the fact that people buy what they want because they want it, not because they're told they want it.

I cannot get cable to my trailer, so telling me that the feature of seamlessly swapping my game to cable should sell the system to me is complete bollocks.

People who play videogames offline don't want to play on a system that REQUIRES an internet connection every 24 hours, so don't tell them that they 'should just connect it to to their phone to do the check in'.

Internet Activists will never accept DRM, so shoving it into your product with virtually no explanation as to why will not sell your product.

People who don't want to use motion controls/voice commands will not force themselves to pay $100 more for the console that requires it to always be plugged in, as opposed to the console that has all camera features as optional.

And on that note; Not everyone has a living room that gives you a 6 feet of space away from the camera. This renders the camera absolutely useless.

Good luck, Xbox Team. I hope the complaints and requests aren't falling upon deaf ears.

A new Microsoft thread to laugh at every day. Don't they realize nobody with a brain is buying their bs?

Lol at the title the mod came up for the closed thread.

As for this, they're doing everything that Sony did 7 years ago. That's a mighty incredible feat I'd say. I wish I was here to see what is was like on Neogaf; maybe as a lurker at most, because I couldn't want to be banned over and over again for what I might have said back then.

Microsoft's biggest problem is they are pushing people into the digital age whether people want to go or not. By forcing people into this transition they have created a lot of hatred towards themselves.

Sony on the other hand is doing the same thing in a different approach. They won't force you into going all digital but let's face it, by the end of this generation most of the content on PS4/Xbone will be sold digitally online.

I feel bad for MS.

So are Sony. All PS4 games will be available as Day one digital with preloading, just like Steam. But unlike MS, you still have the option to get games on discs that have resale value on the PS4.
The correct way to push people to digital is through lower prices and without 24 hour online checks, it's not like rocket science, just copy Steam...

Don Mattrick truly comes across as one of the most unlikeable personalities in gaming. He embodies everything that I personally detest about corporate America. Whenever I watch him during a keynote the words "slimy" and "disingenuous" come to mind.

There is a right way to do digital and there is the wrong way. MS have shown us we won't get Steam like sales (based on their current and past actions), we can loose our games when getting banned and that we have to do 24hr daily checks.
