Eddie Brock doesn't need to be the same age to work, though, really. He's a college student when Peter is in high school in Ultimate Spider-Man. They could even go a little older and make him a young professor or something, or perhaps a student completing a doctorate. It could work.

That said, I think it's unlikely.
