I worked with one. His 2 primary arguments were:

1) Hillary is a woman
2) she will take his closet of guns anyway

I wish I was kidding.

When I hear this from family as a fear. I bring up the same fears when Obama was elected. I remember conspiracy theories about how every piece of ammo was going to get a serial number and then after that all guns would be taken away. Disregarding how those two thoughts didn't really make any sense, I push hard on why Obama didn't take away the guns when I heard the arguments so much. When all of these nut job conspiracy theories take hold the only people that profit are the executives and stockholders of the gun/ammo companies. Hmm, Hillary is going to win, I think I should go buy some stock.

I'm in Georgia. My mom is for Trump. A good portion of my friends are for Trump. I'd take a bullet for all of them. The political landscape is designed to pit us against each other so that we don't pay attention to the men (and women) behind the curtain. Carlin saw this years ago and we laughed, but we didn't listen. Don't hate on people who have different political views than you. No one I know thinks Trump is a "good person", but they believe you are voting with your emotions and not your rational brain. This is because they've seen Hillary for the last 30 years and don't trust her. They are still fun to hang out with and talk about anything other than politics with. I don't know any racists. I don't know any misogynists. Don't hate your fellow man. Talk with them. Debate them. Never get angry at them because you failed to sway them.

This post is not defending Trump or his supporters. It's attacking your stupid idea that Republican voters (or Democrat voters if you're a silent Conservative) are somehow your "enemy". It's misdirection. You're being manipulated.

The idea of kindness is fine when it's people who are simply ignorant or misinformed.

But trying to be reasonable to those that are emboldened in their bigotry will only become MORE emboldened.

If someone openly talks about how he hopes someone kills Hillary, they are getting maced.

Humans as individuals aren't the enemy. Humans as collectives are.

The most successful way of turning people to your side is graciousness and empathy. Doesn't mean you have to support what they're doing and what it stands for.

I'm in Georgia as well and so many of my friends/family are voting for him. Which is fine it's their right to vote for who they want .. what I hate is seeing my Facebook feed littered with lies and blatant disrespect. Anyone that is for Clinton is automatically labeled as "stupid" "anti American" etc ... the hate he breeds is insufferable and scary

Literary don't talk to a co worker anymore cause she's a trump supporter. Was actually a cool chick until we one day got into the discussion. I told her that trump says questionable things that can be seen as racist. She responded saying that's everyone is racist. Stopped talking to her ever since

Nov. 4, 2016

Hi, you guys. I think there is corruption on both sides, too, but I think objectively speaking Hillary Clinton and the Democratic platform, especially pro abortion and attack on the true nature of marriage (man and woman), is a greater evil for our country, since these positions go directly contrary to the very foundation of our country - and every country - which is marriage and family. The family is the first unit of society, so undermining and attacking marriage, children and family will actually destroy the State - and country. Therefore, I think we need to respect those who follow their conscience to vote in such a way as to try to prevent Hillary Clinton from being elected.

At the same time, I think we all have to see the real reason for the crisis in our country. In Sacred Scripture, we read that God allows a country to be governed by the rulers the people deserve. And in our country, unfortunately the majority of people have abandoned God, Christian morality and obedience to the Ten Commandments in their personal lives. If we want good rulers, we need to do our part to live a good, holy life and try to lead others to do the same, at least by our good example. Once the people in our country return to God and the observance of His Commandments, then I think Our Lord will raise up good candidates to rule our country (i.e., presidents, governors, senators, mayors, etc.).

Well, these are just a few of my thoughts. I hope everyone can still remain close and friendly in our family - in spite of the present crazy situation in our country. Let's all try to be good, just and virtuous (e.g., charity, kindness, mercy, honesty, etc.) in our personal lives. By giving this good example, I think we will be doing our part to bear witness to Christ and the truth, and will perhaps help sinners to return to God and save their souls.

Love you all. Please be assured of my thought and prayers,
In Jesus and Mary,
Fr.

My eight year old's thesis is literally more coherent and rational and ironically more Christian.

She thinks Trump is bad because all he talks about is stuff he hates and that we should love each other no matter what.

Nah, fuck em. Trump is a fucking disgusting human being who makes no attempt to hide it. I feel no need to convince a Trump supporter they're making a mistake. They know what they're supporting, and they're aware of the consequences. Fuck em.

Sorry but whether you like it or not because your friends and family members have voted for Trump they may not be personally be racist or misogynistic but they do support misogyny and racism that is what a vote for trump means. Reality does not change just because of how you feel. If anyone is being manipulated its you by your own emotions and feelings about your friends and family members who support a deplorable person.

Your 8 year old is a smarty...Trump would hate her.

I don't consider Hilary or the usual dems ethical enough. I like Obama and support Sanders. I am actually a Brit and voted for socialist Jeremy Corbyn.

I don't like Hilary the warmonger. Look at what she said about bombing Iran. Obama dealt with the problem in the better way. No dropping bombs.

The world isn't going to change for the better with her. Trump is a fool but him being elected may open the way for the likes of Sanders in the future. I don't think the country will let Trump get away with lots of very bad things. He will just be a joke of a president with no congress support.

Obama came because people had enough of crazy neo-cons and Bush. He didn't come from a vacuum. But people are too stupid to vote for good guys, so we need a nutter to open their eyes. The failure of Trump will lead to a better USA. People will say 'never again'.
Bernie sanders will most likely be dead by the next two terms.

I learned that a lot of my uncles, aunts, and cousins from my dad's side voted Trump, their reason? none other than abortion, they're insanely anti-choice and religious fanatics, the kicker is that we're all hispanic. I was disappointed but meh, I should have known this.

Do you really believe you don't know any racists or misogynists? Or are you just saying labels are bad? Because everyone knows someone who is a racist or misogynist. I live in liberal Seattle in liberal Washington where even if only white men voted we would still elect Hillary over Trump and I know plenty of racists and misogynists.

Here's the thing about Trump supporters:

Every one of them is either overtly racist, is closet racist, or abides their leadership being racist.

No matter how you slice it, you're morally bankrupt.

Honestly, it comes down to the origin of a number of tennets being articulated in Trumps programm or otherwise. They are based upon assumptions which drawn overt or subtonal association to racist beliefs. If not racist in the classical sense, then social darwinistic.

I don't see how that's wrong. If he isn't straight up racist, he's playing one convincingly, so if you vote for him then there are things that matter more to you than the well-being of non-white Americans and you are willing to abide a racist leader.

Yeah, defending trump is literally offensive to my family and I. so i do not associate with a co-worker anymore. ill say it again, this election is more than politics.

What about people who are voting Trump because they do not want Hillary to be President due to their fear of her supposed "war mongering nature"? Are they racists? They don't "support" Trump per se, but vote for him as it's the only other logical option. Are they morally bankrupt people?

They're delusional? She's not a war monger.

I live in California and thankfully know no one that supports the guy. I cannot imagine it any other way. Literally not sure I can be friends with anyone that full on supports him

I know Bernie Bros that don't like Clinton. That is bearable

Are you from a reality where Trump hasn't openly and casually talked about using nukes?

Literally can never understand this. Look at what foriegn leaders have to say about trump. Look at how much he lies about petty shit. Look at how inflammatory he is towards members of government. Is this the guy that is supposed to be more level headed and trust worthy regarding foreign relations and war? Gtfo

Trump wants to get make our military huge again, doesn't understand what's so wrong with using nukes, and has proposed using military tactics that would most certainly incite war with other countries. He is not the logical option if war is your only consideration.

Sadly, my girlfriend. Now, she lives with her HEAVILY republican parents. The ones who feed bullshit into her ear all day about the Clintons killing people, Hillary being a criminal and whatever. So I'm unsurprised that this has influenced her at all.

I don't hate her for it. I'm not gonna break up with her for it. I personally feel that political choices aren't a good ground for completely cutting someone from your life unless they take it out on you, and she fully respects how I feel.

We'll just work on tweaking things for next election.

Edit: another reason she'd vote for him is the republican ticket. Again fed to her by her parents.

I wish I could live in a world of pure imagination.

Depends on if they're ignoring Trump's own words about sinking submarines, or just somehow missed them. Maybe ignorant would be a better word for the latter. Otherwise you're just inventing narratives to justify voting for a racist.

Fair enough, but still, the only reason people will vote Trump is because they're racist?

Despite most of my family being (at least somewhat) reluctant Trump supporters, I'm having more and more trouble not feeling upset at them for doing so.

Is it racist when you think your taxes matter more than black people, Hispanics and Muslims?

Replace taxes with any other issue where Trump is appealing and see if you can find something where you'd say "no".

So many of my family. So, so many. It's disheartening. I had hoped my mom would at least go Hillary, but she's told me she can't stand either of them so is skipping president on her ballot.

The holidays are going to be torture this year.

I cut off ties with my parents last month. Was kind of hard but it had to be done. Ended my relationship with a couple of friend groups too. Fewer and fewer people to talk to but it's worth it knowing that we don't irrationally hate people. A lot of people are waiting for the election to be over so things can go "back to normal". It's bullshit. If you didn't vote for Hillary now, I am going to hold you accountable for the rest of your life. There is no going back.

Thankfully I'm not American so don't take part in your vote. I was merely questioning whether people believe that every Trump supporter is a racist.

No, but they do support a racist person. That is because racism don't affect them so they don't care.

Where do you draw the line between
Racist <---------------> Ok with racism

Boils down to this. You don't have to claim to support the terrible things trump has said. But you certainly don't care about them if he is getting your vote. I'm sure during the civil rights movement, or gay marriage movement you had people completely indifferent. Thankfully enough people cared to get shit to change
