Donkey Kong 64 coming to NSO + Expansion Pack on June 4th!!

I don't know why moves like this are being celebrated. They aren't releasing it in a way that can be purchased and played locally. It's literally just moving towards, "You'll own nothing and be happy." It would be one thing if it could be purchased OR accessed via Nintendo Switch Online, but moves like this are garbage and just proves that Nintendo will milk everyone dry, and Nintendo fans will happily allow them to do so. I'm not trying to hate on anyone in this thread. I just hate that these types of situations are being lauded instead of lambasted.
Honestly who cares? As long as I can play the game. Don't really care about outright owning it.
Yes, on a N64. Is that difficult for some reason ?
You would have to buy a whole other console and the game and expansion pack. That is definitely more expensive than just paying for a subscription (one that is relatively cheap all things considered). Also this is way more convenient.

It is not by definition because the subscription doesn't give you anything. You don't own anything, so at the end of the day, you paid for nothing.

Ownership is a nice thing. Cartridge based consoles are very reliable on top of it. Anyone interested in N64 and a bit serious about it will own the console and an Everdrive for example. Gives you pretty much everything for a very reasonable price.

You pay to experience the game? That's like saying you paid for nothing when going to a concert or football game

I wasn't aware that you could own a concert or a football game.

A better example would be comparing a house rental and actually buying the house. You pay a monthly fee, except that after enough years, you actually own the house in one case.

Taking them seriously will embark you into a new form of cult youve never seen before. Just fart their way and move on. Let them get ripped off. I just find the whole thing perplexing.

Can you easily play Donkey Kong 64, right now if you wanted to, without emulation?

Could 15 year old Timmy play it without emulators or piracy know-how?

No? Then STFU and let ppl who could/would never be able to play DK64 play it in peace and convenience on their Nintendo Switch.

Do you realize that the NSO is emulation?

No how about he say what he likes as he is right. Allowing people to play them is fine but not allowing people to own these fucking games is pathetic. You can only rent it. And that's just wrong. For as much as I hate gamepass, you can still buy all the games you can rent. Nintendo doesn't allow that and it's beyond pathetic. Stop championing this bullshit.

All emulation is legal. Nintendo makes games, not the law.

Emulation as a concept goes way beyond console gaming. It has been a staple of software development since the beginning of computers. The only parts of console emulation that can be classified as illegal are the usage of copyrighted BIOS's and ROM's. Emulation is fair game.
