I don't know why moves like this are being celebrated. They aren't releasing it in a way that can be purchased and played locally. It's literally just moving towards, "You'll own nothing and be happy." It would be one thing if it could be purchased OR accessed via Nintendo Switch Online, but moves like this are garbage and just proves that Nintendo will milk everyone dry, and Nintendo fans will happily allow them to do so. I'm not trying to hate on anyone in this thread. I just hate that these types of situations are being lauded instead of lambasted.

Honestly who cares? As long as I can play the game. Don't really care about outright owning it.

You would have to buy a whole other console and the game and expansion pack. That is definitely more expensive than just paying for a subscription (one that is relatively cheap all things considered). Also this is way more convenient.

I wasn't aware that you could own a concert or a football game.

A better example would be comparing a house rental and actually buying the house. You pay a monthly fee, except that after enough years, you actually own the house in one case.

No how about he say what he likes as he is right. Allowing people to play them is fine but not allowing people to own these fucking games is pathetic. You can only rent it. And that's just wrong. For as much as I hate gamepass, you can still buy all the games you can rent. Nintendo doesn't allow that and it's beyond pathetic. Stop championing this bullshit.

Emulation as a concept goes way beyond console gaming. It has been a staple of software development since the beginning of computers. The only parts of console emulation that can be classified as illegal are the usage of copyrighted BIOS's and ROM's. Emulation is fair game.

I've played through DK64 a couple of times, and honestly have no desire to go back to it. Rare made the best N64 games, but this one is a massive slog to get through.

Some of their later games feel way too bloated. I have the same problem with Banjo-Tooie. For me Banjo-Kazooie was the best balanced platformer they've made in that regard.

I have a soft spot for Tooie, I think it's balanced just right for my tastes, but I get the complaints about the backtracking and the bloat.

The bloat in Tooie is absolutely nothing compared to DK64 though.

You really can't go wrong with any of Rare's 64 titles. Even Mickey's Speedway has its charm

Might need to give Tooie another chance then. I went to play it right after a replay of Kazooie and that might have been a bad idea.

And yeah man I love Rare's games. I believe they carried the N64 and it wouldn't have been the same without them, at all. Jet Force Gemini is a personal favorite, love that game.

Jet Force Gemini's OST lives rent free in my head, It's one of the best N64 games for sure.

Kazooie is the better game compared to Tooie if I'm being honest, it's just perfectly paced compared to Tooie. So yeah playing them back to back I can see why Tooie would come across as a bit overwhelming.

Fully agree that Rare carried the 64. The first party Nintendo titles are good and all, but Rare's output was the cream of the crop.

This is probably the game I'm more interested in a decomp/recomp of than anything. There's an amazing game here, but the forced backtracking due to only being able to collect items corresponding to the color of each kong just makes the game take far too long, and that's something that could be addressed in a decomp. Anyone know if that's being worked on or not?

Thank you brother, I'm fucking so pumped now lol. I wonder how long that last half will take. I truly have no idea how long this de/recomps take to finish, and I'm sure DK64 is a bit more complex than some others as well, but man this will be so good when we can configure it to where any Kong can pick up all items and bananas.
