DOOM dev says more goodies are on the way

Mod support or expansion packs pls. Don't care about the MP and the season pass.

YES THIS. It's fucking shameful in 2016 that the big return of Doom somehow forgot to bring in a big part of what made the original so great. Learn from X COM 2 dammit, hell learn from THE ORIGINAL DOOM, MODDING SELLS YOUR GAMES.

ARGH. CAPS.

Change what the season pass offers. Make multiplayer maps free for all but add new single player content for the pass holders. Then the money is yours id

:-)

Give me classic deathmatch and I'll be happy!

Agreed!

Imagine this for DLC:

A single-player expansion campaign featuring:

+ Seven new missions, each sprawling in scope and featuring Foundry-like complexity
+ Six new base demons, including the return of the Pain Elementals and Arachnotrons
+ Two new bosses, including Icon of Sin, who now has a second "true form" (full body!)
+ Three new weapons, each with two weapon mods, with upgrades and masteries
+ Weapons can be found early, and are integrated elegantly into weapon wheel
+ New rune challenges hidden in each level, rewarding new runes to equip
+ New weapons, upgrades, and runes can be used in base campaign, too
+ More collectibles to find, including new lore, 3D models, and classic maps
+ All weapons and demons from base game feature into the seven new levels
+ The expansion follows the base campaign and ends with cliffhanger for DOOM II

In addition:

+ A new Horde Mode playable in single-player and co-op (including split-screen!) where you choose from a variety of maps and fend off waves of enemies, spending points to upgrade between waves

+ New features for SnapMap, i.e. 8-player support, expanded grid, upped enemy count, new pieces, and new themes such as Mars, Hell, and Classic.

+ New multiplayer options, including a classic take on DM and TDM with set spawn points for weapons and all weapons available to the player.

All of this in one expansion, downloaded separately, OR you can get it in a definitive ULTIMATE DOOM bundle where the base game and expansion are together on one disk (compatible with your save data for vanilla DOOM, and sold at a discount).

Dream scenario!

Most of this! Especially the Foundry-like levels even though I'm nowhere near that part yet lol!

Bethesda did say that proper mod tools would be considered post-release. But I don't think Sousa's tweet is in reference to anything more than the Season Pass content.

If they were smart they'd do updates to snap map like Nintendo has been doing with Super Mario Maker.

On the other hand, Bethesda gave us horse armor.

...DOOM already has the best FPS campaign ever, and it's endlessly replayable...

I haven't played Doom 4, but I do believe the masses when they praise the game so highly. Still, slow your roll with the hyperbole, man.

And honestly, wether it's SP or MP dlc doesn't matter to me. Just add good content.

It's not hyperbole — it's my honest opinion. It's the best single-player FPS campaign I've ever played. Of course, that's a highly subjective thing, but this is a discussion board for sharing opinions and all. I'd say slow your cynicism! :-)

Coincidentally, the DOOM people just tweeted out this:

im so glad for id software. i just hope they realise that the singleplayer is getting praised here and not multiplayer

next time dont bother with mp plz

Some more singleplayer content would be very much welcome. I am having an absolutely great time with this game and it hasn't grown old yet.

Perhaps to Neiteio Doom '4' does have the best FPS campaign. Why that H word is used so often these days is beyond me.
That is some hyperbole right there I guess.

There are just so many satisfying moments in this game that you can pull off again and again. Some of my favorites being the way Cacodemon explodes like a meat-filled piñata when shot with the Gauss Cannon's siege mode, or the way you cleave a Mancubis in half with the chainsaw, or the blood fountain *POP* of sniping heads with the Heavy Assault Rifle's tactical scope, or double-jumping above a staggered Hell Knight to straight-up curb-stomp its skull, or obliterating Imps and Possessed at point-blank range with the Super Shotgun. All while moving at, like, 90mph. It's exhilarating. :-)

Man you write an "I love this game" thread better than any poster here. Let there always be more. Hang those who talk of less.

How about a 'Classic' Multiplayer mode
I'd be down for this, but I'm actually surprised how fun multiplayer is after trying it. I say "surprised" because some people thought it was so-so. I mean, it's not pushing any boundaries, but you can double-jump all over the place and shoot people in the face with rockets (the default weapon!), which is great in my book. It's also kind of awe-inspiring when someone turns into a demon and starts rampaging all over the place while the others either stand their ground or run. Great map design, too. :-)

Since when is a person's opinion hyperbole?

Makes you wonder why they made a multiplayer season pass. I know that probably easy money, but seeing all the reactions in this thread, I would believe people would easily buy a season pass like the Fallout 4 one (just a few minor and big expansions).

Put me down as another who would buy up additional single-player campaigns immediately.

I like the multiplayer too, but seldom if ever buy MP-only DLC.

An expandalone like Wolfenstein The Old Blood would be pretty cool.

Split-screen co-op would be as well. I wouldn't mind if it dropped to 30 FPS then. That's how Halo 5 should have done it.

A single player expansion would be great for Doom. Really enjoying it, just like I did Wolfenstein.

It got me thinking how much I'd love for id to reboot Quake or Hexen / Heretic with the same great single player experience that's been given to Doom and Wolfenstein.

Quake might be next, but since there are apparently lots of low budget/free MP experiences like Q3:A, who knows if that'd be enough to greenlight. Quake also doesn't have the same massive single player appeal as Doom. I mean, some people adore it, and it'd be killer to see it retooled as a gorgeous Lovecraft rooty tooty point'n'shooty, but... I'm just trying to think what the incentives are for a business.

how about port Doom 3 to Id tech 6 and keep the same gameplay as DOOM? Might works.

Doom 3 was all about its lighting and shadow technology and they effect they produced on the environment. That technology is no longer in use, so replicating the game might be a lot harder than just a simple transition.

Yeah I'd be down for a Doom 1/2 port. Can never play them enough, and feels weird switching back to the Xbox controller to boot up the XBLA versions.

We might as well get a Classic Doom collection on the latest consoles and throw in Final Doom.

Especially since the XBLA and BFG edition ports didn't give full widescreen support.

I really don't know if a DLC to fight like the Icon of Sin would be better or a new game instead.

Gonna buy anyway
