DOOM is $20 on PC, PS4, Xbox One

Wait what? Has it not been selling well?

Its at nearly a million on PC iirc but dropping in price to 30$ before very soon after release and now 20 for a week at Gamestop means it isn't performing well. I've asked a friend to pick up one on each platform at GS as a gift and another copy on Xbox for me so I have it on PC, PS4 and XB1.

Fuck. Got excited thinking it was digital and I could buy. In Canada.

Side note...don't see why they are aggressively slashing the price if this game. Looked like it was successful, yet it isn't holding its price compared to ubisoft titles or others.

Picked up my copy. Been waiting to get on this for awhile... $20 was the greenlight

Felt weird buying a physical pc copy from GS in 2016

Will buy for the campaign, how is the multiplayer?

It doesn't know what it wants to be. Movement and maps feel like an early 2k's FPS. Load outs make you feel like an arm is tied behind your back.

Forget it exists and enjoy co-op/DM/TDM in peoples' SnapMap creations instead. The latest update allows map creation with rules that are similar to arena style FPSs of old.

Have they made SnapMap feel like singleplayer yet? The movement, lack of HUD options, etc. made SnapMap feel like shit to me.

I know they recently added the weapon wheel, but I'm hoping for something that can basically emulate the gameplay in SP.

Nah, you can set weapon view for center, but you can't remove the crosshair or set it to simple or anything like that. The weapon wheel is cool, though the game doesn't slow down to let you shift weapons (lol). Here's a co-op video of a friend and I playing a map with some single player rules under the newest version.

That's really unfortunate. Hopefully someday it gets fixed. I've love the feel of SP with coop.

Having the crosshair, objective markers, glory kill highlights, etc. really detract from the experience for me.

Only Gamestop with a PC copy is like a 25 minute drive from where I live. I'll just wait til it drops to $30 again somewhere; I'm too lazy to drive for boxed PC copy.

Isn't the aggressive pricing par for course with Bethesda owned titles? Even their mega sellers drop quick. I can't imagine this has done particularly poorly, it's sitting at over a million on Steam.
Pretty much! I can't think of a recent title that hasn't dropped in price fairly quickly from them.

I feel like this pretty much the same as Wolfenstein though.

I imagine it's selling way more at 20-30 bucks than it would ever sell at 50 or 60, probably make more money.

I've been thinking about getting it at 27 bucks, but at 40 or more, no way I would ever touch it.

Went to pick it up during my lunch break. Guy at GS rang it up and said "looks like it's on sale for twenty dollars." I told him that I know since that was why I placed it on hold.

He said, "it's already up on the website?" I responded that it was and...not wanting to mention that I learned from GAF, I just told him about Cheap Ass Gamers.

Dude had never heard of the site. What a pleb.

I think they put in a multiplayer mode because they felt they had to, but with a B team and obviously way less time put into it. Snapmap was a cool idea, but insanely limited (no Hell tileset? No exterior environments?!)

The singleplayer was absolutely sublime, and honestly one of the most fun campaigns since... Doom itself, probably. To see people can it here makes me cry. It was wonderfully fun. I'm gutted we don't seem to be getting any single player DLC, as I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I truly hope the game has done/is doing well enough to warrant a sequel.

The game is replayable, the level design, while not quite reaching the labryinthian highs of the orignal, is varied and interesting, with lots of hidden areas to discover and delve into. The game, regardless of chosen platform, looks absolutely fantastic, particularly the demon models themselves (far too long spent inside the model viewer). But more than that, it's FUN to play. Really fun. Guns feel satisfying, the double-jump and mobility options are smooth, and there's a ton of options. Stringing together kills in different, more gory ways is intense, and the pre-release worry about gory kills feeling boring and overused is unwarranted.

TL;DR: At $20 you are getting one of the best singleplayer FPS campaigns in a long, long time.

Tsk tsk tsk

Not representing GAF like you should be

Say what you want about Destiny's flaws, but gameplay wise it is far from trash. It has some of the best gunplay around, maybe the best.

I feel so left out, because I just didn't enjoy Doom as much as a lot of peeps here did. It was fine, enjoyable enough, but I'm a bit perplexed by all the GOTY talk. I hated the music, and got a little bored of the arena style monster rooms after awhile. I just enjoyed the atmosphere of the OG Doom more; this one wasn't dark enough to me. The monsters seemed a bit cartoonish. I really wanted to enjoy it more but ehh; it happens I guess.

HA!

Been waiting for this game to drop in price, if it holds will pick it up at Target on Friday, or I can price match today at target online and do in store pick up..just not sure what console to get it for..I dont play multiplayer I have heard that campaign is better

To anyone who still hasn't bought this game and you don't take advantage of this deal I will personally come to your house and stare at you judgmentally for a week.

Fair warning.

gonna price match at best buy after work

played through on XBO but traded it in when i moved back home (and lost access to old roommate's XBO)

I was in a similar situation. My local Gamestop had a copy that was further away transferred to their store, for me. Got it the next day.

Also 20$ is an absolute steal for one of the best FPS campaigns in years. Sad that it clearly didn't sell too well and Bethesda will probably look at this and say "no market for good single player campaigns" or some shit.

wait didn't it sell gangbusters?

Twenty bucks is definitely a great price for this.

It's a fun romp, but there's zero replay value, and the MP isn't too hot.
