Thank you very much!

Watching that compilation video made me realize I'm starting from 0. I might as well have no experience. :x Those were some sweet hooks, though.

Lane farm is better earlier on (less safe), though once he gets levels and vlad's he can just indulge in both to his heart's content (whichever is quicker and safer at any given moment).

Crystal Maiden with a BKB, hell yeah!

You mean MORE SAFE, MORE SAFE!!!!!

Sorry, pet peeve.

never seen a laning lycan...why isn't he jungling?

Once in single draft I had Natures Prophet and somebody else had Lycan. Lycan went in lane and I went jungle. Never won a game so fast I can tell you! (well maybe I have, but this went really fast)

Tried that again another time and another fast win if I remember that correctly. Lycan in lane can work great.

1. Sic your wolves on the enemy hero.
2. Enjoy last hitting freely while the opposing hero runs in panic and dismay.
3. Win game.

Makes sense...just never seen it done well, that's all...The handful of times I've faced Lycan as support, I buy like 4 wards and just ward all the neutral spots in their jungle. It completely throws off Lycan players (and yes they're probably garbage for not adapting/my mm is probably with lowbies).

I love it when you have an idiot teammate who blames the whole team for x,y,z reason, proceeds to voice himself in allchat and the other team also says he's an idiot and needs to shut up.

Man, Panda's new icon is fucking creeping me out. His eyes...oh god the eyes and that facial expression.

Dota 2 has been acting weird since the last update, I'm getting random crashes/freezes and even once I entered an all shadowed map with the time at 88:88 :/

I tried Storm Spirit and I don't get how are you supposed to carry with him. his skills don't seem very useful to me, at least to kill, and his damage on autoattack isn't good either, right?

He has a glorified stun with his pull, basically stopping them while bringing them towards you (great to do near towers early game) and a glorified blink that has no CD and does damage.

He's good in the right hands, terrible in others. He's not very good 1 on 1 but is useful for chasing down and can be unpredictable.

I can see that, but still what you said does not sound like the characteristics of a Carry to me, I dunno. But yes, I'll avoid the hero because I'm terrible with him (and in general)

Shadow Shaman, why so goooooood

My favorite hero, and so fun to play. Let's go.

Hex --> ward --> shackle --> nuke (if still necessary).

on any hero, all day long baby. I haven't played him for some time now, but by the time I finished getting him to 5 performance bars, I was raping with him. SO fun.

He's like QOP. Lots of maneuverability and some big magic damage burst and if he gets rolling early on, he will poop on your face all game long. Not really a carry, more of a semi-carry/ganker.

If I may disagree just a little bit...

I find Storm in a 1v1 is when he's at his very best. His burst damage on a single target is amazing, and he can keep the pressure on. Once he's got his bloodstone (or sheep/whatever you're getting for mana and mana regen), you can perpetually fly a little spam them with Overload. They can't run away from you because you can always catch them and you're slowing them constantly. Their only hope is a teammate getting there before you finish them off to scare you away. There aren't too many 1v1's that Storm loses (assuming equal levels). Unless he runs out of mana, of course. And late game, that shouldn't be happening anyway.

I just got my Storm to 5 performance bars and the only times I didn't go balls-out and dive whole teams as the initiator was when a team was when they have multiple stuns (mitigated later by a BKB purchase).

As long as he learns to spam that overload hit and that static thing after the vortex and he'll do well. He'll shit on all but the hardest late-game carries. Until the other team gets wise and starts silencing/sheeping him. :-( But that's what the BKB is for :-)

Every time I pick Bounty Hunter I go Dagon and Deso. It's so fun to burst someone down.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!?!?!?!

He actually has a pretty damn high amount of burst damage with his Overload spell. So every spell cast gives him +90 bonus damage on his next attack because of Overload, right? This is how encounters generally go:

1. Storm Spirit lightning balls in, doing maybe ~100 damage with ball lightning coming in depending on how far he travels.
2. Storm attacks you for normal attack damage +90.
3. Storm pulls you in with Vortex, disabling you for 2.5 seconds.
4. Storm attacks you for normal attack damage +90.
5. Storm drops a Static Remnant for 260 damage.
6. Storm attacks you for normal attack damage +90 (see how Overload damage is stacking up like crazy?).
x. Storm lightning balls around to gain a charge of Overload.
y. Storm attacks you for normal attack damage +90.

He's a ganker carry because, with enough farm, he becomes this untouchable monster that can initiate from anywhere and do massive damage with Overload stacking on his autoattacks. You can't run away from him because Overload slows you and he has a disable (and he typically picks up an Orchid or Sheepstick, making his disables last even longer). And he can run away after a fight because of ball lightning traveling anywhere.

He's a difficult hero to play because you have to learn how to manage your mana properly. He's extremely mana-intensive. But he's very rewarding and very powerful.

I'll try to find some good videos of him. If you can find a video of Godz playing Storm (there are a few on joindota, I just can't find them at the moment), you'll see what a professional Storm looks like.

you forgot:

z. repeat x and y until he's dead. add in a remnant if the cooldown ends and you have the mana to afford it.

:D

If you picked up a bloodstone, you can afford the mana, as you're regenerating it at 20mp/second with a MP bar over 1400.

One thing that is very refreshing about Dota 2, is that a game is never truly over, until its over.

At least in pubs this can always be true. I normally don't go out of my way to post about my own stories, but this was a long hard fought game and we were far behind. Here's the deal.

The game started off quite badly for us. They killed us a lot, and got a lot of our towers.
aud2j.jpg

Naturally it snowballed into a 15k gold lead for the other team, WOW.
8RTtI.jpg

But we didn't give up. Every time the came into our base we still fought them. We lost fights, but had used gold to buyback. I had been farming up with both my q and hand of midas for a solid 70 minutes. The had attempted to push into out base and take out our last two rax, but we killed them and me and shaman pushed up the middle. He double serpented and we were trying to backdoor throne. Furion and WD get up, sprout me, cask me and I eat 8 seconds of death ward while maledicted. I needed one hit to win the entire game.
Nv1NB.jpg

With my last ounce of life I swung my mighty sword and pulled it off. 76 grueling minutes. An hour of playing the most horrendous beatdown you can ever imagine, where we lost over 4 roshams and were down two sets of racks and every single tower.

I'm not trying to brag or anything, but this just goes to show, someone may always do something stupid that lets you come back into the game. Your teamfights may just end up being better in the late game. You never know whats going to happen, especially in pubs, so just go for it. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. That was my second game as doom bringer but my god swinging to get the last hit on that throne right before imminent death was one of the most satisfying moments I've ever expeienced in this game. I was the ONLY person in the game who didn't type gg.

Edit: If you wanna see the screens in bigger size just check my album out.

^ epic. oh, and a level 25 Spectre and Doom should win a game late. It's just a question of whether or not there is enough time to get them properly fed and leveled. Their team was built to push towers fast and win early. Their only carry (Razor) is a mediocre carry at best. The only real DPS dealer on that squad late is Prophet.

edit: YOU ALL NEED TO TAKE YOUR ASSES TO SEE THE AVENGERS TOMORROW.

The shit is phenomenal. Ridiculously good.

what's the proper way to use dust on phantom lancer? I can't seem to tell when he goes invis...there has to be some kind of visual queue that I'm missing

There is no immediate visual cue. When PL turns invis he immediately spawns a clone moving in whatever direction PL was moving before he turned invis. A lot of the time you can only know for sure after the clone stops moving or takes damage.

The illusions from dopplewalk inherits his last command, so unless your eyesight is really sharp you won't be able to catch the tiny hiccup when he wind walks.

Unlike other heros where you use dust reactively, you have to be proactive in your dusting against PL. That means the moment you initiate on him with blink or stun or whatever, you need to dust, because he might already have invised while the spell is in the air.

Didnt EHOME run storm at the International? Also Darer and CLG like running him so he can check those vods.

ok see that's what I did...but I was repeatedly told that I was doing it wrong..

17 minute gg. Sorry Boto. DK up next though!
Okay, VOD finally went up so I could watch this mess. Suspicions were more or less on the money.

- As Slesh points out before the game even begins, starboba had very little in the way of disables and antipush power. A Sprout that can be countered by two MUFC abilities (three, if you count Swap) and a Paralyzing Cask that won't reliably stun a hero for longer than a second at any given moment. And that's it. Every single hero on the side of MUFC possesses at least one reliable stun, with Shaman possessing two and Windrunner capable of stunning two heroes at once. Outside of the Nature's Prophet, the pushing disparity was similarly one-sided.

- Questionable ganking. Diving a Shadow Shaman under his T1 at level 3, without a creepwave, with Lone Druid nearby, after barreling down the mid with the subtlety of a cranky rhinoceros? Surprised nobody died. And again surprised nobody died when their second attempt was met with comparable failure.

- First teamfight is lost 0-4 for starboba, they can't even claim Windrunner. Brewmaster misses his Thunder Clap, then positions himself in the optimal place to eat a Magic Missile and be bursted to death. Necrolyte is out of position and can't heal before this point, and then hits Death Pulse after Bounty Hunter is already dead (was instead seemingly getting greedy and trying to burst down Windrunner with the Scythe and Pulse). Nature's Prophet picks a terrible spot to try to teleport out from, he's still within vision from the path he ran from.

- Prophet walks into a VS stun at the top T2 and promptly dies. Bounty Hunter walks into Swap range whilst being uncloaked, and is immediately hexed and killed.

For all the Necrolyte brouhaha, it has precious little to describe about the actual match (I'm almost let down >:| ). Starboba pulled out probably one of the worst drafts I've yet seen in a competitive game here, and their play did nothing to rescue their stillborn team composition. About the only education one can wring from this VOD is what drafting and playing with blindfolds looks like.

that latest couple of patches have ruined a couple of things for me, like how the K/D/A stats disappear when you select someone else to see their items.

Last patch also broke the search bar in the items shop for me.

Is there a gaf chat room I can join?

Also, I suck but man some of the people that play this game sure are jerks.

I've been playing "easier" bot games but even then I see some dude who thinks he's hot shit get all whiney within the first 5 minutes of a game and then disconnect.

I mean come on, I'm playing "easier" of course I'm a "nab."

/minirant

I had my whole team leave in a game just then and they left me to paly by myself as phantom lancer :L

I tried holding out just myself but I couldn't.... eventually they overwhelmed me. Should have used the afk team doods more I think.

Quick question though, the other team got hella mad that I didn't leave, started yelling about how they were going to report me for feeding to get me banned because I was being a dickhead. so I was wondering if GAF though that I was

A.) a dickhead

and

B.) Able to be banned or whatever due to these asswipes reporting me

1) Nah, make them earn it. PL is an army of one, you actually had a shot if you were lucky enough to get a decent matchup.
2) No, there is a 99% chance you won't get banned for something like this.

There are neogaf and neogaf noob chat channels in game. Many dota gaffers also hang out on the gaf mumble server.

Is the separated health/mana bar with black and grey background when you lose health/mana a bug or does it show the amount of health/mana before you took damage?
