Really? That would be pretty big news, aren't they a fairly large organisation?
Seems like they were. They're fairly new though and seemed to have come out of nowhere. He could just be trolling everyone though...
>yfw Quantic is disbanded and I continue to make all the money I do via ad revenue on my stream/ad revenue from youtube/lessons/stream subscriptions while everyone else on Quantic who is salaried at damn good pay has to go searching elsewhere.

This happened to my interface in the last 5-10 mins of the map.

It was an issue with the bordeless setting and some key the I mispressed while trying to ping the map.

Made those last moments very frustrating since I could see the shop, nor the gold that i had.

And the hats isn't speculation, it really is happening:

I like how the defalut icons are starting to fill in.

looks like you'll be able to change weapons and such too.. kind of cool

I plan to buy nothing in game. I refuse to play F2P moba games where I'm micro transactioned to death. I'll happily quit Dota if that is the case.

Lol, the heroes will all be free, at least all ~100 from dota... it looks like it's going to be cosmectic items / future heroes exclusive to dota2

What racist remarks did Destiny actually say?

seems like you can make some inferences based on:

Destiny said:
Sorry, "PR"? You want to talk about respect? How about treating a community of people like humans, and not a mindless hive-blob of blithering idiots waiting for you to appease them with hollow, empty, meaningless phrases that everyone finds kosher?

You may not like what I have to say, but I will go down in flames screaming nigger/gook/spick/faggot/queer before I ever release a pointless cookie-cutter apology. I'm honestly disgusted and disappointed that you, as a human being, find meaning in these bullshit PR moves that other people make.

I'm tired of public figures that stand for nothing, and instead merely try to act as a mirror, reflecting back onto other people whatever it is they want to see.

I used to watch Destiny play SC2 all the time, I thought he was pretty entertaining. I don't think he means what he says, just trying to entertain.

Sounds like an archetypal locker room cancer, unless you managed to fill your locker room with all equally foul personalities (of course, then you have problems of another nature entirely!).

I see it now. Someone shot Razor a screenshot of him using a racial epithet. "Gook" to be specific. And I wish a mothafucka would have called me a "nigger" in any locker room. Believe that shit.

I don't think he means what he says, just trying to entertain.
Perhaps. But when you bring money from sponsors into the equation, you and your conduct are now beholden to the expectations of those who are paying you. That's how BUSINESS works. When a sponsor gives you money and access to their logos, products and marketing materials, you become their ambassador.

If you don't want to be an ambassador for money, don't take the money. Then you're free to be a broke dickhead.

Edit:

Since when has publicly endorsing certain words served to further racism?
lol, TeamLiquid.

Edit 2:

Destiny specifically used "gook" after a poster used Korean to type "GG". "Destiny picked the word he knew would most likely cause the most offense and harm to someone who is Asian or of Asian descent. For Destiny it wasn't just a word, it was a word he knew had the chance to cause the maximum amount of damage because it denigrates Asians - and that should be totally unacceptable." It's pretty simple.

I hate to call things prematurely, but I think EG has this series. Their play was just on another level entirely.

So he's a dirtbag who's going to run his mouth long enough for it to run himself out of the business. At least there's some solace to be had in that, that the most vociferous will inevitably fall upon their own swords.

Indeed. Some anti-social, perpetually angry kids may not like it, but if eSports wants to continue to grow and succeed, garnering prize pools like what we see in StarCraft II and The International....they will have to adjust their behavior to accomodate sponsors who are putting their money and names on teams and events. They have standards and expectations for conduct and don't want their reputation associated with embryonic dickheads with an insufferable penchant for intellectual dishonesty and stupidity. Those who are actually interested in the maturation of eSports already know this.

It's like you can tell who has never had a normal job and who doesn't understand business. That TL thread is an example of the cancerous problem in these internet-based, insular communities: The "snitches get snitches", entitled attitude that still seeks to support and/or condone racism, misogyny, and homophobia while asking respectable corporations for money (events, prizepools, sponsors) and hoping to be taken seriously by the 99.99% of people who don't live in their insular bubble.

Crap I just had this bar in the top right corner and I clicked and it had something like "#dotaview" and "#dota_ignore" and I clicked ignore. What just happened?

Funny how the casters are chatting about the tournament structure while there's a bloodbath going on in the Dire base. They're still trying quite hard to make a comeback now that EG's relaxing.

In TF2 theres a notification button on the main page that displays newly obtained items. You just canceled the notification.

Valve's got a loooong row to hoe before they can massage the community into something respectable. My sons (age 12 and 8) play the game, but I don't let the 8 year old go online and the 12 year old can only play co-op bot matches, as everyone is much more relaxed in those.

People are so weird. I played Dark Seer and was with a Lone Druid. When the match started I said "Going to jungle." The Lone Druid heads to the top lane and says "I'm jungling." I'm like whatevs, that's cool, I will happily take top lane by myself.

I head to top and he hangs around. After a minute I ask him if he's jungling and he says yes, he's jungling. Ooookaaaay. I wait another minute and ask him again and he replies that he is indeed jungling. Finally I say that I'm going to go jungle and he says "Oh no way, you can't jungle at level 2." It is at this point that I realize he has no idea whatsoever what he's talking about. :)

Every match it seems there's at least one person just waiting to have a breakdown and do something annoying/crazy/inexplicable. We're winning pretty handily, we push the middle and rax them and are about five minutes from victory, but Shadow Fiend dies in the process. He rage quits and the other team pushes and since we're man down slowly lose to attrition.

Dota 2 is an endless series of head-scratching moments for me:).

I know it's common to recommend Lich for beginners but the problem is that Lich has to really own the early game for him team to be effective late game.

I often see new players going with Lich, failing to contain their lane and then being useless down the road.

Probably because no one told them that sacrifice is actually a good spell...

By really own, you mean sacrifice a creep every 30 seconds for the first 20 minutes to reduce the amount of XP the enemies in lane are getting by 25%, right?

Bonus points if you also pull well, reducing XP even more. One of my favorite games was the juggling Lycan helping out with pulling where we also had two lane, and out leveling a Solo Huskar.

Blame Quantic for using Destiny to raise their profile.

Dont kid yourself that Quantic didnt know what Destiny was like before they offered him a spot on the team. He has never changed his behavour for any of the teams he has joined.

Regardless, he's still probably the best hero to start with if you aren't familiar with mobas. Very little to think about compared to other heroes, at a time when you're likely overwhelmed by how much shit is going on. Click this for damage. Click this for defense. Click this for mana. Click this for big damage when target is not alone. And they're all ranged and involve clicking on units.

For all 0 who care, some notable things from the newest LoL patch. I still like to keep tabs on the game

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/news/spectator-mode-patch-notes

- Spectator Mode Added
- All Chat is now turned off by defalut (Lawl)
- Surrender Vote Failed messages no longer displayed to enemies
- Towers should do less damage early game, and more to people who stack armor later game
- Several "Tanks" now passively gain Magic Resistance as they level up.

Sacrifice is enough to gain a nice advantage. Sacrifice when you can + spam frost nova. Heroes bumped together? chain frost. Tell them to buy wards and they effectively have done their job.

In combination with unholy amounts of Frost Blast spammage. The degree of damage you can deal for free in the laning phase as Lich is ridiculous, you just have to stay on your toes to maximize your time spent alive and getting XP. Conversely, kill the fuck out of Lich and don't let him sit around getting free denies, levels, and harassment.

I like this part of the LoL patch notes, I feel it should be worked into dota 2

New option added: Show All Chat

Cross-team chat in all games is now hidden by default
Cross-team chat in spectated games will also be hidden by default

There really is no reason for all chat to exist besides trash talking or making comments on what just happened, or just mocking team mates. It can be a huge deterrent to new players.

Already there more or less, just mute the enemy team at the beginning of the game if you don't want to talk to them.

It's helpful if you pause the game and want to see if the other team is ready. But pause is anti-fun so isn't in LoL. Maybe that could be the next feature they 'borrow' from Dota.
