They claim it's not based on W/L, but I went 11-0-21 on storm with ok gpm and lost skill points in a loss. I can't figure out what more it wanted from me, other than to win.

I hope it's stuff like, you're a support and bought boots first and never got a courier or wards: negative points!
I believe it compares your creepscores, xpm/gpm, k+a/d to other teammates and enemies relative to whether you won or lost, then compares THAT to other players in your skill tier who played the same hero. Spend a lot of time warding or make sacrifices for your teammates / map control constantly and you can be sure your performance also drops, it's not perfect.
Winning has nothing to do with it, I've got a terrible W/L with Shadow Demon and my bar would either stay the same, or even increase, with a loss.

This certainly true, as my W/L with void and zues is 1:1 but they come off as very high skill for whatever reason. My mirana which has 2:1 w/l is garbage tier apparently, <1 bar. They need to at least tell us what's in the system, so they can get feedback to improve it. When it comes to that storm game, I was the first to level 25 and our team had maybe two towers down, which the system should be able to account for in your gpm.

Tonight we do global strat: Furion, Naix, Wisp, AA, Zues.
Wisp tethers AA and teleports in, furion ults/tps in, Zues ults to assist, Naix is inside someone teleporting.

So I just got this and installed last night (fooled around with settings a bit mainly then).
Without even having played a game, I'm currently spectating a game with a couple Na`Vi players in it, and all I have to say is that the spectating system/Dota TV is fucking brilliant and needs to be stolen for every competitive eSport type game. It would be a huge boon to Starcraft 2 especially.

that doesn't seem to do it either. I'm +30 wins/losses with Drow, yet sitting on only 4 bars.
Before they reset/revised the performance section, she and a number of my others were 5 bars (maybe 15 heroes). Now, Earthshaker is my highest (around 4.5), despite only playing with him 4 or 5 times and only 2 wins and everyone else between 3 and ~4.2. Nothing special about my performance in those games with ES, and definitely more deaths than kills in most. Lots of others I know have echoed the same experience.
anyway, perhaps the reality is that most people playing the popular heroes are doing really well with them...and if the average of all of these players (many of which are doing well) is a "2", then maybe doing better than 2 is pretty okay.

I think everyone has some random-ass hero they've only played 5 games with sitting on the top of their performance section while the hero they've put 50 games in stares up with jealous eyes. lol

I have 3 heroes with bars, Lycan, CM and Invoker. All of them are above 4 and Lycan is almost 5.throwawayname

I have lost every game I have played as AA, but he is ranked my second best character. I just don't know.

Because they are dedicated to making this the worst game in Dota 2 competitive history. Just the absolute worst play I've ever seen. Maddening and painful to watch.
