Can't be a real dota game without pauses taking up a good 10 minutes.

The pauses are merely irritating. When they lose players and can't find the save, that's just plain bullshit. I've seen this happen so many times where they can't get the save and one team has to forfeit or they have to remake, inevitably fucking one team over. I just don't understand why they can't get a working save system going after DotA 1 competition depended on it for almost a decade.

Played Batrider for the first time in a long time yesterday and holy cow do his new textures look good.

When they said they wanted to "polish the existing hero set to a high sheen," I hope this is what they had in mind.

I think it says when you make a lobby (which all these games are in) SAVE GAMES ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS MOMENT.

So I guess this game is lost, I was watching Tobi myself because I don't like lumi and that other guy casting. Only way to fix it is to get the same amount of kills/towers/roshes back, but I doubt they will do that.

Visage is not THAT micro intensive. Meepo is waaaay more intense. People keep saying that a really good Visage will stun with his Gargoyles after bursting them, but most of the time it's just not possible with the Gargoyle's slow casting speed. The stun is a perk. I guess you do need some good micro to keep them alive, and a lot of awareness to keep casting your soul assumption and grave chills since they're low cooldown.

One of my most played heroes ever.

How are you guys building KotL?

I'm tending to work towards tranquil boots and a bracer for survivability, then progress towards shadow blade, eventually disassembling my boots for travel boots so I can safely push all over the map like a boss. Seriously- whole creep waves falling is the best thing, especially if you accurately predict where they'll be by looking at where your creeps are on the minimap.

Keep in mind this is if there is a more traditional support on the team doing all the warding and stuff.

I play a lot of Gandalf, and he's probably one of my favorite PURE supports to play. Typically I get 3 in Chakra, 3 in Illuminate, Spirit Form when I can, and then max Mana Leak. Items: Tranquil boots, Force Staff, Magic Wand, Bracer. Last two slots are for wards and tps. Swap out bracer for ghost scepter or vanguard if you have the spare $$.

People might think this is weird but I think Gandalf is an incredibly good roamer. He has his own mana restoration ability, his illuminate hits HARD early and strikes from fog of war, and with tranquil boots he can heal himself just fine. I always steal runes from enemy mids and roam around the map causing chaos. You can get a loooot of early kills with illuminate and establish map control by using that spell to push towers after winning fights.

Visage is SO fun. You crazy sir.

He's a support hero though.
Visage used to be my favorite hero some ~4 years ago, I'm not sure where I stand with this redesign (not sure when it actually happened). I love the new gargoyle mechanics, potentially aoe stun for 4-6 seconds along with quite high attack damage BUT you need to use them smartly / stoneform to regen charges. Now this is nice and all, fun to use and micromanage, but I really don't know what to think about the new soul assumption. The charges run out really fast, require a crapload of damage (at least early game) around you to be worth even casting and you seem near useless earlygame unless you're in a very aggressive dual/trilane.

I'm still learning the ropes, and been trying him out in several (horrible) laning setups, tried him as the farmer on the lane, tried as a hard support and had very varying success. Sometimes he feels like the best hero ever, but if the stars don't align you feel so useless apart from your gargoyle stuns. Also TA or Axe can wreck the gargoyles so fast sometimes.

Looks like mtw is wiping Navi again. It's weird how much Navi loses against mtw..

NaVi and mtw scrim a lot. I have the feeling that mtw specifically gears themselves to beat Navi-style play but not any other sort of styles.

I consider him one of the kings of dual/trilane along with Undying. You have got to put him with a high damage teammate to make the best of him. My personal favorite lanemate (if dual laning) is Juggernaut. It's pretty much a guaranteed kill at 2 against most heroes. Grave Chill, Blade Fury ---> Fills up your lvl 1 Soul Assumption, fire off Soul Assumption from long range. Massive, massive damage. They also synergize in the midgame, with Visage pooling the team mana with arc boots, and Juggernaut healing the team with ward. Healing ward and the new cloak spell for visage makes him incredibly tanky and allows you two to dive a LOT.

If you want to trilane him, there's a lot of awesome trilanes you can do. Last hero listed is main farmer.
Shadow Demon, Visage, Undying with Undying main farmer.
Crystal Maiden, Shadow Demon, Visage with Visage main farmer.
Crystal Maiden, Venomancer, Visage.
Sven, Lina, Visage.
CM, Visage, Jugg.
Veno, Visage, Sand King.

etc. etc.

Also best dual lane.
Techies + Visage. Grave Chill, Suicide, Soul Assumption GG

Yea true, they seem to be pretty good friends every game.

Also did Lumi's mic break and is he just playing cameraman? The stream is a lot better that way..

I understand the Juggernaut lane and all, but why would you ever choose a visage over, say, a venomancer instead? And what happens to visage if you're facing a mirana/darkseer or anyone who can escape grave chill / blade fury? I guess that would be my main issue, the hero is now quite reliant on having allies to combo with & actually killable enemies. Sometimes the map is full of blink heroes and playing a Visage is just depressing :D Maybe he's just not very public compatible aside from drafting gamemodes?

mirana dark seer isn't going to die to any juggernaut lane though, point is moot. visage / jug is strong because you get the slow + you get the huge nuke which comes from the juggernaut spin damage.

This is true, but I was asking what happens to Visage if laning doesn't work out! Most support heroes can still try to work it with ganking other lanes or even farm the jungle or something, but I've had horrible experiences with Visage :l I guess he's just a situational pick, and you have to know what you're up against before deciding, which is fair enough.

Such a shame, but I'm happy I get to see more games!

It completely sours the entire tournament for me and makes me not even want to watch the next game.

I said it in this thread the last time this kind of disingenuous administrative stuff happened at a tournament: Dota 2 needs an equivalent of SC2's weekly State of the Game podcast to really draw community attention to these kinds of failures on the part of both Valve and tournament administrators. They need to legitimize this kind of stuff when real money is involved. If iNcontroL or Artosis were part of this community, I could just hear the things they'd be saying whenever this happens.

Did mtw win "game #2"?
They decided to just remake it regardless of the lead, restoring the save would have taken far too long. Guess you could look at it as a proper bo5 now, the default 1-0 lead well deserved by mTw :x

This is fair enough, it has to be really frustrating especially for mTw, and this kind of stuff has happened far too often with Dota 2 so far.

>Why choose Visage over Venomancer?

Visage is a lot tankier, does a lot more single-target damage, slows from a longer range with 100% accuracy, and nukes from way, way farther. Plus he's a gargoyle. Venomancer has good AOE power, pushes harder, and can roam more effectively (due to cheaper mana costs). Choose Visage for complete lane domination and if you like diving.

>What do you do if laning with Visage doesn't work out?

You have to be smart with laning Visage. I would avoid QOP lanes unless you're doing something like SD/Kunkka/Visage (but then you have the problem of trilaning against a solo hero with an escape). Mirana lanes, you'll need someone who isn't a Juggernaut with you. DS or Windrunner lanes, Crystal Maiden is your friend with nova and frostbite. You need to put him in lanes where he's going to get kills, else he's gonna have a difficult start.

He's a weird support in that he can get a LOT of early game kills and rapidly snowball.

IF he gets a bad start though, all is not lost. Try to get arc boots asap though and have your team force fights as soon as possible. Visage is very good in early-game teamfights. He's a decent pusher with his Gargoyles too. He's OK at solo ganking (mainly because of how long-range that nuke is!) but excels at 2 on 2s and up.

Guys I got 9 summer chests lying around.

If anyone wants them they can have em, I'm not going to open them.

If you want to give me any items you don't want I'd love to have them, but you can have the chests regardless, they'll just go to waste in a day or two.

Also props to Detox. Eh's a cool guy adn doesn't afraid of anything.

Got another one.

Take the damn thing and use it before it expires.

Am I the only one with no interest in the competitive scene?

Tinkers fun >.<

I'd probably be more interested in it if I ran 5 man teams. I like playing more than watching, some people prefer the other way around.

I'll for certain watch the international 2 though, with a million dollars on the line and east vs. west there's gotta be some good plays there.
incoming 60 minute +games of heavy farming with less than 10 deaths on each sides
.

Oh man, Dismember may be one of the more enjoyable spells to steal as Rubick. Holding down a farming carry like Phantom Assassin whilst a Nyx unloads his nukes onto her, on two consecutive occasions = priceless.

Tobi got grilled for using the word nigger early this year, and that wasnt even in a tournament. I'd put homophobic slurs on the same level. If you gotta swear why would you even need to pick a discriminatory one? Is he 16 years old or something?

The only thing I was making a fuss about though was the retarded hyperbole idiots use whenever defends the use of such terms. Yes people are totally saying kicking AA from Navi...thats clearly the truth.

Didn't think it would be that bad so I checked the Reddit thread out. Wow. I'm not sure if that's just rabid fanboyism or people really are that dumb.

Its Summer Chestravaganza time again, and time is running out! Don't bother PMing me. Just add me on steam and get them.

Got 10 more. Get you one! For science....... and Valve's pocket!

Come on, subsidize Dota2 for cheapskates like me.

Also the people who got them, did you get anything good. One Unlucky Gaffer had 2 duds in a row. Sworn off keys now. :P

lol so many chests

Tinkers fun >.<

I'm not feeling it so far, but that's probably because I lack the knowledge of heroes/spells so team fights to me look like just a bunch of random shit being thrown around for 5 seconds with some heroes being dead after said 5 seconds.

Playing multiplayer games in 2012 and not being interested in ESPORTS?

Quit video games.

I hope this is not serious.

Must learn not to suck at this game..

When you do, please pass down the knowledge to me because I need it.... badly.
