Anyone having problems booting up the game? I get a message that says "preparing to start" but nothing happens after that :s
What's the point of shittalking your team all game long?
Gotta vent your frustration somehow, the problem is exacerbated in Dota 2 because there is no visible rating, so people expect teammates to play at their level and get upset when they don't.
In HoN at least if you see someone is 1600 rated, you know what to expect, opposed to someone who's 1800+

I just don't want shit like KDR showing up in a player's profile.
"Soandso has a KDR of 0.8 noob garbage go pick CM trashcan"
This happens to me all the time, it's insanely frustrating. Hopefully valve doesn't pull one of their crazy stunts and keeps MMR values hidden.
Would be a horrible idea to do so, pretty sure they even changed the matchmaking so it finds players based on the highest skill level in the group rather than going for an average.

Both HoN and LoL has this, you better get used to people seeing how you perform.
Stats are a very easy way to predict how someone will perform in a match, most people would not feel comfortable having someone that doesn't necessarily have carry stats playing a carry."Soandso has a KDR of 0.8 noob garbage go pick CM trashcan"
Most people don't look at stats pre-lobby because there isn't enough time toIf your playing Matchmaking, you dont need to know how good someone is, because youve already been paired up with them, and your in game. You don't ever really need to judge how good someone is.

HoN stats (and color) helps a team determine who's going to go mid. Also, a lot of players are actually understanding and if you see a guy with .4 kdr picking a hard carry; you can nicely ask them to play a different hero, and in my experience, 70% of the time they will. Yeah stats also sometimes leads to verbal abuse, but people in MOBA's will do this with or without stats. You will get called a trashcan whether you play bad with a .5 kdr or play bad with no visible stats--it's the tragic nature of the game.
An over all K would be useless, but some stuff like per character K:A would be good though. It is one thing to have a 1:5 K with Omniknight, and anther to have it with Antimage. (Also, Dota only gives Assitss for dealing damage recently in a battle, making it a bit tough to even get them as Omniknight)
Nope, your heal does damage to people in range not to mention if you get stuff like Necro, assists are easy to get with Support.
Ran into a terrible bug with Poorfate last night. Earthshaker disconnected and then reconnected on the other team, but i couldnt see him anymore.
See earthshaker standing in front of the tower? Yeah me neither. ( i was on mumble with poorfate and i asked where he was)
*picture*
Is it so bad though? In dota, heals are among the most powerful nukes in the game, aside from healing damage. These are either pure damage, insanely good damage for mana, or uncapped AOE nukes. Failing to get assists or even outright kills using these skills shouldn't really be a problem.

I believe there is appropriate risk/reward for healing while in proximity to enemies. Heals are the among the best nukes in the game, using them where they won't damage anyone is fine but don't expect to get credit for anything performed by the healed hero 10 seconds later. So much of the game involves the right spacing and being able to cast at the right time. To use a sports analogy, it shouldn't count as an assist because he didn't pass the ball just before a goal was made but instead passed it much earlier on in a safe area of the playing field, allowing the recipient to dribble in himself for the attack and eventually get the goal. No assist awarded.
Not that I really have any ideas. But it's true that heroes were limited by WC3's engine. Excite!
Who said anything about ten seconds? You're making a lot of ridiculous assumptions.
I'm talking about, it wouldn't be POSSIBLE for me to kill the guy if I hadn't been healed. This is a perfectly legitimate situation, and it happens all the time. There's literally no good reason the healer shouldn't get an assist in such a situation. None whatsoever.
I think he means ability, not looks.
Not a huge deal gold wise, but still annoying.
