DoubleFine's Amnesia Fortnight prototyping event for public viewing, voting & playing

But it says "Steam keys too!" in the OP. I didn't know you could get prototypes on Steam. Does that mean you'll still have to buy the full game once it's released?

None of these are on track to become "full" games, they're just experiments that they're sharing with the general public. If one is a smash hit it *might* get reincarnated as a normal Double Fine project, but I wouldn't count on it.

Not exactly true, what has happened in the past as far as I'm aware when having Amnesia Fortnight's is that out of say those 4 projects that they prototype some came to be games others didn't on the account of finding a publisher.

Costume Quest
Stacking
Iron Brigade
Once Upon a Monster
Middle Manager of Justice

These are all games from Amnesia Fortnights as far as I know. Action Theater might be too.

Nobody voting for Knockover? But everyone on Hack'n Slash. Is it because of the title or what? Because i dont like Zelda with Laptops.

I hope these Games win : Knockover Kaijin Piledriver,Spacebase,White Birch and/or Black Lake

Most of the games we've made in the last few years started as Amnesia Fortnight ideas--but of course there are plenty of other Amnesia Fortnight prototypes that never got made into full games. It all depends which ones can actually find the funding they need to spend a year or two in full-scale production!

I voted for Black Lake and The White Birch.

Edit: Voted for Space Base as well, idea sounds interesting.

Cool idea. Can't wait to play the Costume Quest prototype, very interesting stuff seeing games in a raw unfinished state.

For fear of being completely jumped on by everyone, but is there ever a chance of a video game company/initiative ever supporting a charity other than Child's Play?

Yeah, I've been pondering this question for a while now as well.

I believe past "Humble Bundles" have had the option contributing to the American Red Cross. But I understand your point, I think that Child's Play simply reach out more to this Industry in addition to its origin of course.

There have been other charities that VG companies/indie game sales/ VG related media have given too. But the community has rallied around childs play for a while now.

The very idea to make this public is awesome. Should be interesting to watch.

Also lots of cool ideas, which made me pick like 6 games.

All of these games sound cool, but The White Birch sounds the coolest.

Shame Cloud Prix isn't getting more support, too – I'd love to see DF's take on a racing game.

OK, there's a lot more good ideas than I anticipated. The Knockover being about setting up bank heists is a game idea I've wanted to play for years.

Awesome, I'm glad to be wrong! Will put in my money and votes when I get home, then blast links to this project on the Steam group and other forum I admin. :)

Glad to see Spacebase on top. I personally hope KAIJU PILEDRIVER and Milgrim go up to top 4 and knock down game #3 & 4.

This sounds like a really great idea. Valve did something similar to this as well at one point as well, it's documented in The Final Hours of Portal 2. Bethesda did it as well after Skyrim launched.

These will potentially become the next Double Fine games, it's going to be a great watch!

Spacebase DF-9 sounds awesome, and is currently my favourite.

edit: oh god, the CritterVerse pitch video is fantastic

Wish Cloud Prix was getting more votes. That sounds like a blast.

I voted for:

Cloud Prix
White Birch
Black Lake
Autonomous

I'd love for those to get made. Kaiju Piledriver, Spacebase, and The Flock are honorable mentions that I'd love to see get made as well. Wish it was 8 instead of 4!

Yeah, Knockover sounds awesome too

Because everyone is Posting what they have been voting on. My list is:

Spacebase DF-9
Hack'n Slash
Kaiju Piledriver
Milgrim
Bragging & Fighting
Echelon

I voted for

Spacebase DF-9
Bragging & Fighting
CritterVerse
Battle Bros.
Hack n' Slash
The White Birch

I was considering voting for The Knockover too, but it sounded a little too much like Subversion and the developers of that said that the concept turned out to be not that much fun.

Donated all my donation to charity.

Voted for every game I liked the concept of:
The White Birch
Zumbi Chained
Shine Run
Spacebase
Bad Golf
Cloud Prix
The Knockover
CritterVerse
Black Lake
Bragging and Fighting
The Flock

I'll follow during the week and de-vote if any of them don't seem to be panning out, I guess.

You have to give credit to those Humble Bundle guys: unlike some imitators they seem to have a lot of ideas about how to keep their service/offering fresh and original.
