DQ Heroes I&II up for preorder on Gamestop

I believe BestBuy were also listing it, but not sure. Not the first time we're hearing about a retailer listing that game, at least.

Fake edit: oh, I'm sure BB/that other retailer also listed NoA as publisher. Would be hilarious if Squeenix didn't even bother publishing it themselves.

Hilarious, but completely unsurprising. It's insane to me that Nintendo cares more about the IP in the west than Squenix themselves.

Neat, portable Heroes that hopefully runs just as good as the PS4 versions.

Hah oh man... whew thats a good one.

Honestly I would just take stable framerate and looks good.

Nice that it is the two pack bundle.

The demo left me a little cold. Portable mode was rough as in 20fps and less rough at time but overall looked okay if they could just smooth it out. On the tv it was just acceptable but not great or good. Definitely not ps4 level. It needs a couple months in the oven if possible.

Seeing as Nintendo are shown as the publisher, I hope they crack down on S-E and tell them to patch the living shit out of it to get it to 30fps in handheld mode before they release it.

It wasn't hilarious when Squeenix didn't even bother publishing Bravely Default so Nintendo had to pick up the slack.

Please let us have a version that will be patched a bit so the framerate isn't all over the place like that botch-job of a japanese release we got.

To be fair the actual games apparently run better(but still not what you'd call good).

Yeah that's not going magically make it Look or play any better... I'm playing zelda and that game has bad framerates from time to time...

I'm gonna get the PS4 version after the downgrade impressions.

Technically speaking, there is no PS4 version of this particular game. You have to buy DQH and DQH2 separately, and I believe that there's one new character and boss that's exclusive to this release. That being said, given the overwhelming preference that fans have for DQH2 over the original, it may not be a tremendous loss to not have both games handy on the fly.

Me too but I wouldn't compare the two games that much. At least Zelda was consistent enough and ran great comparatively speaking. I would just like consistency, which I think part of the Zelda issue was having to chuck a game and engine made for Wiiu into a different architecture in a very short amount of time. Willing argue that if Zelda was made for switch from ground up it would have ran much better or consistently.

Looking forward to this game. Hopefully this means we'll get an actual release date soon. This is probably my most anticipated game outside of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors. I'll play it regardless of the framerate. I must have played the NS demo 10 or 15 times already!

I mean I've already played first one like years ago. I guess for people that aren't bother by these things and are new to the franchises. They can definitely give this a try.

You can download the demo on the JPN store right now for free. I did. It looks pretty and is mostly playable, but def struggles to hit even 30 fps ( vs. the PS4's pretty much locked 60 fps ). It also uses the PS3 version's assets.

I'll probably still be picking it up, but it def doesn't seem like the best performing version.

Probably getting this on ps4 due to performance and online multiplayer , I'll get the switch version once it lowers in price since DQheroes 1 got all those improvements from DQ2 (but still runs like meh) Plus i'd rather play with friends on the console we all have vs the console me and 1 friend have since the other friends cant find a switch.

Don't care about it unless they fix that framerate. I tried the demo and it was awful. Felt like it was dipping below 20fps at times, no thanks.

Oh did you enjoy the localized Dragon Quest Yangus title?

Or the DQV remake, or any damn version of DQX.

The fact is that Squenix is really bad at handling this franchise outside of Japan and seeing as DQXI is still unannounced for the west, it's not showing any signs of stopping.

I won't be at all surprised if Nintendo is the publisher of XI.

The only publisher of it. I'm sure Square Enid can't be happy with the DQ Heroes/Builders numbers in the West.

I wouldn't doubt it. The current promotion of DQ Heroes 2 is pretty much only for the PS4 with no mention of the NS version of 2. So they probably are gonna hand publishing over to Nintendo. Though, I wonder if they're going to release the game for the NS at the same time as the PS4 version.

I would get this, but the performance issues of the demo is stopping me. I also finished Heroes 1 on ps4 and the downgrade to switch will be jarring.

Well, SE did publish the PS4 versions of DQH, DQH2 and Builders. I think the last time SE published a localized DQ on a Nintendo system was DQ IV and DQ V. They were supposed to do VI as well, but something happened and Nintendo had to publish it themselves.

There seems to be something going on with all that. SE has no problems publishing stuff on Playstation but they don't seem to publish anything for Nintendo and leave it to N to do it themselves.

Nintendo publishing DQXI would be great news if this increases the chances of us getting the 3DS version as well.
Maybe it will run better than the Japanese demo

I think the full version already did run better than the demo. Demo was based on an older build.

I keep seeing this but Digital Foundry used the demo in their comparison and seemed to feel it accurately represented performance of the final game.

They didn't have the final game, so how would they know? Haven't seen any videos of the final game, either.

Whatever it is, it's a bad look for them than anything else. It's a marquee franchise for them in Japan, and treating it so schizophrenically as they do trickles down a lot of the apathy that even hardcore RPG fans in the west can feel for it. For all the talk that Final Fantasy can get these days as a bit of a has-been, at least it won't ever come across like a never-was, as DQ is situated these days.

As much as I would enjoy having these games on the Switch, I need to see an accurate handheld mode demonstration of the finished product. The DF video ruined ALL excitement I had for the time being.

We don't have a full generation reference for their publishing on Sony platforms since the PS2, and we missed out on almost everything Dragon Quest that generation except VIII.

They published Rocket Slime, DQIV, DQV, and Monsters Joker for the DS, as well as Swords for Wii.

It seems like they weren't keen on VI because of low sales, and so Nintendo had to step in.

I'm sure i they aren't keen on Heroes and Builders sales in the West, and so I can see them possibly backing off of future localizations.

Thankfully Nintendo loves the franchise and generally picks it up. That's why I like the games to be released on Nintendo platforms because we have that extra assurance they will be localized.

They wanted to have impressions and comparison as fast as possible...most of the Switch comparisons they ran were kinda useless. Doubt they cared to wait or obtain for the full version.

I watched streams of the final game. It doesn't change anything about the framerate. It's still 20fps on average.

Square Enix barely publishes anything on Nintendo platforms in the West. In Europe Theatrhythm Curtain Call and FF Explorers are the only 3DS games they handled on their own.

They are also still skipping Dragon Quest games on Nintendo platforms right now whilst localising all the PlayStation stuff.

For the DQ Heroes it was the cost factor. The double pack is super expensive in Japan and importing would add even more costs.

If it does get released in Europe I'm sure Dark10x would be happy to take another look.
