Cassandra you say?

Just a dumb joke. Nobody would cancel their pre-order based on the lack of griffins. :D
Duh, didn't pay attention. Thought Bioware was the one doing that.
TThe hype up gryphon's as some amazing mounts for greywardens in origins, full well knowing the fact there's no mounts in the game, fast forward to DA I yay mounts still no gryphon's. The fuck why?
They are allegedly extinct, but bet they are leaving that for a future DA, when we inevitably visit the Anderfels (where the main Warden order resides, and originated). Furthermore, having a way to fly, would have huge implications on everything, from combat to story, including level design.

They would have hyped that up since day 1.

BTW, pretty sure Cadash (the surname for the dwarf MC) is Shale's house. So a link there already.

Can we set up traps as a rogue and plan ambushes (ie: no only in the middle of combat)?

BioWareDAI You can, in fact! Positioning, traps and other preparatory abilities (and potions) are a very good idea against some of the harder fights. --Laidlaw

Anyone still doubt they took the DA2 criticism to heart?

i asked this a while ago (and please dont get mad if you have aready answered this) but is the combat system more like DAO or DA2? its a really big turn off if the combat is not good *cough* *cough* AC3 *cough*

BioWareDA The tactical combat is more like DAO with the tactical camera (extra improved) and the real-time combat is slower with more weight behind the attacks, defense, hits etc. You can swap between these modes whenever you like and as always you can swap between party members at any time. - Cameron Lee

Extra improved?

Because they're extinct. They were already extinct in Origins. Also, they would be flying mounts and there aren't flying mounts in the game.

Yes they're extinct, the purpose of their existence in the lore was what exactly. Also supposed extinction hasn't stopped Bioware before.

They've confirmed scribe-girl as the bi option :)

Where is the suspense, where is the mystery!?

Also, has anyone asked about Engage mode? From what little we heard of it it sounds like automatic turn by turn pause and play, ala BG2 pause after combat turn mode.

Allan Schumaker answered this for me on the BW forums: Engage mode is holding down a button while in Tactical Cam to let time progress while in the free-cam of Tactical Cam mode (which is paused by default). Once you release the button is will pause again for you to issue orders. He also said though that feedback about the whole "holding down a button thing" is something that could possibly be incorporated by the time it's released (in other words, they may make it so you don't need to have a button held down).

It's unclear but possibly suggested that there is a separate "mode" for PC that is tactical view (which is different from Engage mode) since devs have talked about preferring to play the whole game in tactical mode on PC.

My gut tells me this all won't be cleared up until we get a PC-focused reveal day sometime in the future.

Edit: Sorry about double post.

Weird, but actually OK. I never really like BGIIs auto pause after combat turns, and while holding a button kind of sounds annoying it does give you much more control over when to pause and when not to. Also yeah PC is like 99% of the time in tactical mode.

I hope this video that's out Friday on Destructoid is worth it and not some shitty teaser. I know it won't likely be a real gameplay demo, but I hope it has some meat to it.

Q: Will we be able to have the tactical camera on during normal run-around game-play rather than having to hold a key only during combat to enable it? (I know this was suggested earlier so wanted to see if you had made any headway on that)

BW: It will pull you out for cutscenes but you can spend most of the game like that - Mark

Good news for PC fans.

I really hate that we have to know everyone's sexual preference going into the game to appease everyone who's worried that their favorite character might play for the wrong team. Whatever happened to just playing the game and finding out for yourself?

I know it wasn't a popular decision (for reasons) but it would have been better to give everyone what they wanted and make everyone poly amorous like in DA2.

There's only one m/m option, and it's 1800s porn'stache Dorian.

There's only one strictly gay romance announced so far, but I'm dubious there's only one m/m romance, especially considering they just announced today that there are 8 romances total.

That doesn't really address my problem, either. I thought in an effort to make the game more inclusive they made every character a little less interesting by slapping a cookie-cutter "I'll sleep with anyone named Hawke" designation on them. I like that some of these characters are going to be unavailable to you. But I would have liked to find that out on my own.

That was the beauty of Aveline in DA2. I spent the whole game flirting with her and in the end she's attracted to someone else. Made her feel like a real person that wasn't beholden to whatever I, the player, wanted her to do. Make more characters like Aveline.

Oh, I see. You didn't want to get "spoiled" in a way.

Ehh, that was what I strongly disliked about her character lol. I don't need it to feel 'real', in the end it's just a game to me, I'd like it to cater to my wants. That's my feeling at least.

This, so much. I loved Aveline's character because of this.
