Dragon Age: Inquisition Livestream: Character creator, new gameplay

I simply refuse to deal with that many clients on my system.
Most EA offerings don't appeal to me anyway so it's hardly a big deal.

Fair enough.

I just don't think dealing with Origin is any effort at all. I don't think I've booted it up since Mass Effect 3. Ah well, you could always get EA games on consoles if that is an option.

I'm still not sold on the Tactical Camera. That interior fight by the doorway where they went out into the Tactical Camera seemed like they had the camera stuck on the low ceiling, which made it not very useful since you couldn't zoom out beyond the ceiling.

And in this outdoor area, the trees aren't turning transparent or anything when you zoom back, so they're just blocking your view, kind of making the Tactical view kind of pointless.

Seeing him easily maneuver about tactical view with a controller makes me feel a little better about settling for the PS4 version since I won't have my upgraded pc by then

Can someone ask if save game import will work for DA2 saves, purchased on Steam? Or anything new related to save games on PC?

Indeed, if I felt so inclined I'd just jump to console.
The last time I bothered was also on ME3, so it's been ages since anything caught my attention. DA hasn't been anything interesting to me since DA:O. DA2 killed most of my expectations for the series going forward, but at least they seam earnest about changing things up from the last installment so we'll see.

Did they answer if theres a level cap? It was asked but I didn't hear

No, they bundled like 3 or 4 questions in one and they skipped over the level cap. All previous bioware games have been level-capped so I would assume it will be 20 with possible increases from DLC.

They've said in the past it will be a soft cap somewhere between 25-30, which makes sense for the changes in the skills and skill tree as 25-30 would mean players would be able to max, or nearly max out two trees and a specialization by the end.

Now this is a character creator ive wanted. They've just gotta show me some gameplay and if its good it'll get me back.
This CC is colossal
This CC will consume waaaaay too much of my time.
I'm going to be spending an hour on this before even starting the game. Fuck lol.
This is a pretty good CC. The hair could use some work though.
Responses like these make it all too clear to me that a lot of people have never touched an MMORPG besides maybe World of Warcraft.

For those not in the know, these are good character creators.

Inquisition at least has a good amount of facial customization and decent artwork (especially compared to previous Bioware releases), but no body customization immediately puts it waaaaay below the greats, and the actual range of the sliders may or may not be adequate.

Personally, I'm getting reeaal tired of so many characters in these games having the exact same body types. Reeks of misplaced priorities. Yes, the face is important, but the silhouette is equally important, and neglecting it, in my mind, just makes your character creation a failure, especially considering it can be used to add variety to the NPCs as well - plus the usual excuse of 'it makes animations weird' only applies if you actually have characters doing things like hugging each other in the first place, and how often does that happen in these games? Yeah.

But you know, whatever. Credit where credit is due, at least they're improving, hm?

Yes, no body size selection was a huge turn off when it was revealed. Took a big blow to my hype, since I really wanted to play qunari and their story, but I always feel odd playing a big lumbering brute. I'd hoped for a not-too-giant choice, but eh. I will live of course.
Can't wait to get home and watch this.

No body sliders would bother me if the races were otherwise identically sized, but since humans, elves, dwarves and qunari all have different body shapes, it isn't a problem for me personally. Throw in the various armours, headgear and facial customisation and I don't see 'saminess' as being an issue. I'm biased I guess, though - I tend to go for 'standard' body builds even in CCs that have different physique options, it's facial customisation that I really enjoy. At the very least, Bioware's efforts this time around seem vastly better than in previous games. Still hyped!

Extensive isn't exactly the same as good. It can limit the number of ways you can use the character model. MMOs are a great example of minimalist designs to compensate for an extensive character creator.

A good character creator would be extensive, make characters that look good, minimally limit other aspects of the game, and not be too hard on the budget.

I really hoped for the different origin stories that we got back in DA: Origins, any news on them doing the multiple starting stories again?

I don't know if anyone else had issues with broken tactics in DA:O, but Fernando assured me the system is more robust this time and that shouldn't happen:

DAI's is a lot more robust, you shouldn't see that anymore

For those unfamiliar, tactics are automated NPC behavior based on certain conditions - it's essentially a list of things you'd do yourself in tactical view, and it lets you modify your party members' default AI behaviors. You can tell them to use a certain spell if enemies are clustered in a group of 3 or more. You can tell them to swig a potion if they fall below 25% health. With tweaking, it can become pretty powerful so you can focus on your main character's actions.

Wasn't in the case in DA:O that you had to spend skill points to unlock tactics slots? (So if you wanted to rely on tactics, you had to significantly weaken your characters overall.) Is that still the case with Inquisition?

it's not that bad but yeah, black desert is way to OP.

anyway short clip IA and door clipping

c'mon at least don't design a door that way.

No, they unlocked as you leveled. You didn't have to spend to get them. I asked a follow up to see if they unlock or if we just have a set amount at the beginning of the game.

You had to put points in the Combat Tactics skill to gain more tactics slots though.

Funny you say that, as Dragon's Dogma easily qualifies on all three points. In fact, this is a game that has climbing, and lets bigger characters pick up and throw smaller ones.

What's Bioware's excuse?

Wow. How did they not see this in testing? That's super-distracting and immersion breaking. The actual door portal can be shaped that way but the area it opens into needs to be designed not to clip with it, or hell, even just making the door a sliding door would solve this issue...

From what I understood they needed to differentiate the races from one another or something.
