Really unique and engaging art is very important to me. I hope this game has a distinct and slick visual style. Mass Effect had terrific style. KOTOR had great style. I hope this does too.

Wasn't that screen from years ago though? Or is there a more recent one? I agree 100% about the style, uniqueness and atmosphere can make a game so much better. It works wonders for the Disciples games, W40K Dawn of War, lucas arts games, and all the other ones that pull it off, fallout and starcraft are another two.

Hopefully when I check this thread tomorrow morning there will be all sorts of new information to browse!

I think the other reason people prefer the player character not be voiced is so they can imagine their own voice, and be more immersed. It's hard to roleplay when your character has a voice of his own, and is saying things you weren't entirely sure of when you picked the abbreviated option.
 
The only thing I've learned from checking the official DA forum regularly during the past few hours is that Chris Priestly is a /b/tard.

It's old. I don't think years old though.

Disciples II is a GREAT example of fantasy with a very unique look. Game has gorgeous art. Maybe the best dark fantasy art in gaming.
 
This kind of sucks. I still think they need to change the name of this game. Its way to generic and sounds mediocre even though the game will be awesome.

Honestly, it was better as just Dragon Age.
 
I see Bioware has elected to continue their negative hype campaign for the game in lieu of positive hype and more sales.
 
The scariest thing is that subtitle, man.

Maybe I'm just overly paranoid but Origins just SCREAMS content getting excised to get a head start on the sequel. I always had my doubts this was going to be Baldur's Gate-ish. The idea of an RPG having that much content nowadays is so crazy. It takes a lot more work to create even the simplest quests or areas.
 
So Bioware announced when they would be announcing when the game would be announced.

EDIT: Would it have been so fucking hard to put this screen up three days ago and have it say "More July 11th"?

i think when we found out that it wasn't using d&d rules, it was obvious it wasn't going to be anything like bg.
 
Hmm... after reading that little press release its interesting that they don't once mention that Dragon Age is a PC game. Maybe its no longer exclusive?

Maybe its for the better...so they can actually code the game without 500 technical problems

But then your character completely lacks emotion in every sense of the word. He doesn't even feel like a real character. Bioware got it with the voices in mass effect, and I don't see how they wouldn't be successful doing it again in Dragon Age. It seems like they are taking a step backward rather than forward, if they do give the PC no voice.

Man who gives a shit about D&D. I HATE Baldur's Gate, and a big reason is dumb fuck D&D rules. I'm talking depth, scope, scale. That's why BG2 is fondly remembered (but not by me!) Not because of THAC0.

Thing is, most of those games were prequels, not the first game in the series.

d&d lends a lot more than just rules to bg. setting, monsters, people. they're all part of the d&d "experience".

I agree with you. Plus I hate the skills/feats for D&D. So predictable and boring.

I want it to stay exclusive, its just that with EA involved, well I worry that they might try to force Bioware to make console versions too.

Really? Because Bioware has wisely dumped the awful D&D system and the terrible, boring Forgotten Realms setting for Dragon Age. So anyone who's happy about that is already on the same page with the game. People UPSET by that, THEY might not belong in the thread. But personally, I think everyone should be allowed. I'm just real easy going like that.
