I mean... he is the god of earth...

Yeah but there is nothing super mystical about him, or Kami. They just did what a Namek taught to make Dragon Balls can do. All that Garlic Jr arc stuff was just filler too. For all we know they were just green men living in the sky playing god.

The stuff about Kami becoming God after someone else wasn't filler as far as I know.

Summary of next episodes not sure if real though

u7 wins

38 - The martial arts tournament between Universe 6 and Universe 7 with Earth on the line. Vegeta's last opponent is Hit, the strongest man of Universe 6. Vegeta, watching Hit's eerily calm demeanor, is quite sure he's strong. Hit is an assassin proud to have the greatest skill of Universe 6.

39

Version 1:

"The counterattack of the developed "Tokitobashi" (Time Skipping?)!?
Will it appear!? Goku's new technique!"

Vegeta challenges Hit using Super Saiyajin Blue but Hit's technique, "Tokitobashi", deals a barrage of hits in his vital points and makes him faint. Son Goku is able to guess how Hit's "Tokitobashi" works and thus, while in Super Saiyajin Blue state, he also challenges Hit.

Version 2:

"The growing Hit, Goku at his peak" (Provisional)

Hit can skip time but only for 0.1 seconds. Estimating past those 0.1 seconds, Goku defeated the "Tokitobashi". But, Hit continues to grow (stronger?) while in battle. So, Goku breaks the seal of the Kaiouken and shoots a Kamehame Ha!

40 "Conclusion" (Provisional) - The martial arts tournament againts Universe 6 that wages on Earth has finally come to a close. In an outburst of anger, Champa wants to destroy his defeated contestants. Cabba and the others are frozen in fear. At that time, the one who appeared on the ring is...
Looks fake. Especially since they say battle waging on Earth. That's not where they are at all.

He also created the dragonballs. Less godly in hindsight because of the namekian thing, but that was introduced later and he probably wasn't thinking of it at the time.

How do you explain the fact that he is able to grab people's bodies and take them to the afterlife for them and even Yemma and Kaio know him? It was always clear he was a god.
Goku can do all that. Is he a god? (see: yes, fuck)

Also, Dende still ain't done that shit.

We're getting closer, closer to seeing Vegeta once again get his pride crushed, and this time it'll happen in front of all his family and friends.

The descriptions are real, but the Earth thing is false.

or it could be a small mistake I mean you can change it to

The martial arts tournament against Universe 6, that wagered Earth, has finally come to a close.

with very minimal change and make it a true statement. (I made some extra changes with punctuation and spelling just for the sake of making things read better :P)

Same. Getting the most character development but I will never forgive Super for not having him kill Frieza. That would've been the perfect moment to show his transition.
Least he got a spectacular one-hit KO on Frost. That was amazing.

Kami did put together the moon after it was blown up in Dragonball. But, yes, that was pretty much the only really special thing he did.

New episode today, friends.
Also, new avatar~

Who is it? I'm trying to think of anyone relevant that it could be, but nothing's coming to me. Adult Goten, maybe?

Re: Kami/Dende being gods: I haven't read the original manga, but in the OG Dragon Ball anime, it's stated that that Kami's position was passed to him by the previous god. And in order to accept, he had to expel his evil intentions, aka the original Piccolo. And I think it's implied (or explicitly stated?) that this involves a passing of some sort of godly power. So, while Kami/Dende were/are technically "just" Namekians, they're also much more. They've inherited the position of Earth's god, thus granting them the powers of god. They just also happen to be able to create Dragon Balls. It's safe to assume Kami's predecessor (if they weren't a Namekian) could not create Dragon Balls.

(Of course this was all before the concept of Namekians, or, indeed, any other gods, even existed.)

We don't see Kami perform any godly duties really, except the moon thing. Then it's destroyed again and he just shrugs. What do they doooo? They don't pass judgement for the afterlife, they don't cause natural disasters or perform miracles, they don't do their god given duty to "protect the Earth". They're not even immortal. How did Kami even pass his role down to Dende? Was Piccolo a god for a short time? What do they dooooooo?

Kami at least can go to the afterlife and plead with Yenma, so that requires some sort of divine access. Piccolo later knows about the kaiohshin too so he must have had some notions about the divine structure of the universe.

Of course people like Uranai Baba can also go grab people from the afterlife but most probably she is just hacking her access to the afterlife with magic or something. Or maybe she is friends with Kami dunno.

Bringing up Baba is interesting, because doesn't Goku sometimes tell Yenma to tell Baba things? Baba is also the one who you have to ask for someone to come back to the land of the living for a day - which she does direct via Yenma IIRC. How does that work, is she divine as well?

Oh you.

I'm sort of impressed that I've reached the point of not needing subs even if it's incredibly mundane. Watch live, interpret what I can, and then read what Kagari posts. It works lol.

Well it's Shounen anime so it just works. Did this with many series over the years.

Edit: lol that avatar

It is completely possible bringing some people back from the afterlife is a role for someone to fill, and Kami just picked Uranai Baba.

Also it may be just magic; magic seems weirdly powerful even compared to the kaiohs capabilities. The old kaiohshin only could do the mystic upgrade cause he fused with a witch.

Yeah, Think I'll stream tonights episode. I usually wait for dragon team but Hit is too hype for a 2 day + wait.

Thankfully I did hold off on the last 2 episodes until last night which was a nice back to back wathcing experince

I want to see Vegeta bow out intentionally just so Goku can have a go, just to see this thread's reaction.

I'd be fine either way. Vegeta just had 3 wins back to back gauntlet style. I consider him the star player of this tournament. It's ok if he gets benched.

13 years ago we were watching the end tail of the first run of the Buu saga in English

It took until today's episode to recapture the hype of NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALL Z for me.

So excited for tonight.

You know how Goku is always paired with Shenlong?

Vegeta is now paired with Porunga!

Also, Vegeta does yoga
