Meh, the dubs can only disappoint. There's no way somebody can pull of a more powerful performance than Nozawa. I wish Goku had a female voice in the German dub, but this probably won't ever happen :/
In Kai they did it right for Gohan at least.

I think Schemmel pulls off serious Goku extremely well. Any transformation or epic moment is done justice with his performance. It easily rivals Nozawa and personally is better because that's what I grew up with. Dub definitely won't disappoint. I expect it to be even better for a lot of us currently watching the sub.

Yep, it would be a lot better. I grew up with those voices, nostalgia is a motherfucker.

Still the best non-Nozawa Goku Kaioken performance for me.
Tommy really nailed that high-pitched scream. Goosebump-inducing!

Never heard this before but the screaming is pretty good. Goku sounds like his body is being torn apart.

It seems grey to me rather than evil, maybe Vados sees that their universe needs a better class of god of destruction

Nor is a god of destruction inherently evil, I see it as a Galactus-like balancer of life.

Whis did as Vegeta if he would be a God of Destruction, if they placed a breadcrumb that early it's rather clever.

Whis asked Goku to be it in Battle of Gods

I just understood that the tokitobachi is simply not strong enough to preserve Goku x10 ssb in time.

He can not be contained. The time does freeze but it's not an absolute fact, it's an ability and it affects people near Hit. Goku passed a cap in speed that made him almost immune to that time control ability.

At least in its current form.

Yeah, that's how I look at it. Higher the ki, the less hax will affect you.

It is scary that Goku can use Kaioken while Blue. That x10 Kiaoken is already stronger than a potential SSJB3.

Just rewatched the scene again... I may have changed my mind. It's not just my favourite power up/scream scene in Super but may have overtaken my #1 in the entire series... it could just be nostalgia but.. its so good! The intro theme music that also kicks in music adds to it so much!

My previous/current #1 for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XebyKpo6A9s

I feel like this came way too soon. And the occasion didn't call for it.

I mean, doing a tech that 90% will kill you? In a pretty meaningless tournament and only after taking one serious blow? It also makes super saiyain blue feel pretty obsolete too soon, I know there are side effects...but still. Also felt like there was no real buildup. And no real tension, but that's a problem with the show in general.

Side note: was this what goku was trying to do in SSJ3 against Kid Buu before he ran out of energy and fell back to sayain? They had similar set ups. It wouldn't even be a retcon if they had a flashback saying that's what he was gathering energy for during the kid buu fight, and it would provide cool context. Surprised they didn't do it.

It's fan service. This whole tournament has been about that and I'm fine with it. Plus, we'll probably have SSB2 or something along those lines in 10 episodes so we might as well get kaioken out of the way now.

It would be a retcon imo. Goku couldn't maintain SSJ3 because it was a deeply flawed transformation. That was the whole point of it. He sacrifices too much of himself to achieve it.

It doesn't have 90% chances to kill him.

It has 90% to fail.

It works in two steps.

1) concentrating energy (10% chances of success)

2) unleashing kaioken (which results in ruining his body if he failed, and could even lead to death if he messes up badly)

He wouldn't have unleashed kaioken, had he failed to concentrate it.

Best Goku Dub on this planet.

Yeah, I may be alone on this one, but I think the Saiyan Saga is where the German dub really shined performance-wise. I mean, except for the subpar German script with all the added low puns and corny jokes -.-'
It all went downhill when the substituted Santiago Ziesmer with Oliver Siebeck. I blame those protesting "fans" being exposed to Christopher Sabat's horrible interpretation of Vegeta via internet videos, somehow thinking that a low, grumpy voice would be fitting for the character. Really, how could you not love this awesome, powerful voice for the prince of Saiyans?

And wow @that clip of the Ocean Dub Pretty Panda posted. This is one high-class performance of this Peter Kelamis guy. A near perfect imitation of Nozawa's Goku.
This Ocean Dub seems pretty great, at least concerning the voices. Especially Brian Drummond's Vegeta, his nasal voice is such a perfect fit for Vegeta. Why did they substitute such great voice actors? o_O

some fan service can be better than others.

Hm? not sure how it'd be a retcon. I said if that was what he was attempting back then. And then it failed due to the reasons you listed. But I don't think it was ever explained what he was "trying" to do specifically, so I think it would've been a neat throwback.

ok, so the death comment was applied to the second part of the process and not the 90% thing.

I would love to see that SSJ3 Goku transformation with Japanese dub and the Falcouner score.

There's probably one on youtube. There's a lot of scenes with X music with X voice acting.

The death provoked by Kaioken statement was actually a throw back to when he first learned it.

But this episode showcased perfectly how it works now to avoid that threat, Goku stores the energy, and if he managed to blend it with his ssb power, he unleashes it. In two times.

Ki manipulation is key, if he can't do it he just doesn't use the Kaioken and he is safe.

That being said, the Kaioken itself is still extremely straining his body. He mentioned that even when "it works", he can't have it on for long.

He just said he needed to concentrate to get all his energy back.

I'm getting tired of the scale of DB fights not really going up. Goku has the power of a god times 10 and didn't do anything more visually impressive than regular old super saiyan. And fanservice is all this show is good for because it's not even remotely as good as the previous series. Still gonna keep my avatar tho

Hit is extremely reminiscent of Cell.We all sort of saw that when he was first revealed.

But let's look at the facts :

1) He is a copy cat

2) He shares a biological trait with saiyans but lacks the ability to transform at will

3) He virtually looks identical to Cell, look at that sloppy 20 seconds recolor :

4) He wants to push Goku to his limits so he can also be pushed to his limits

I wonder if the fact that he is 1000 years old has a connection to his time ability.

Basically I'm wondering if he got those time powers because his race has this type of ability, or if he got his powers from something.

Still gotta disagree with the "Hit looks like Cell" stuff, he always looks more namekian than anything else.

DBZ bad guys just have a bad tendancy to always have those vertical cheek lines

*glances at Frieza*

Err did you skip Goku vs Beerus, this a tournement for fun, of course the scale is smaller in that scenario and is actually a good change of pace for the series

They don't have a tendency to anything though, cell has Frieza's CELLS.

That's the only reason they look alike.

If you really think my recolor doesn't look like Cell, I don't know what to tell you. It's the exact same bone structure, nose, and mouse. On top of the rest that was similar to Frieza too.

Yeah, if we use the multipliers [which I don't see why not - they are still relevant as shown with dialogue in the latest episode] then Goku has reached a ridiculous level.

SSGSS3 = 400x the base form

SSGSS + Kaioken x10 = 550x the base form

It's nice that they remembered some of the old power ups but eh, why did they have to specifically say it's x10?

Hit shrugged off the attack anyways so what the hell was the point of saying it was that high? It just makes the fight make zero sense.

EDIT: Oh, and having a clip of Goku vs Vegeta just highlights how awful the new style, quality and depiction of power is in Super. That scene was epic as hell and you could really see that these dudes were powerful as hell. New stuff just looks pretty neutered in general.

This episode was amazing, damn. I hope the series can maintain this quality more often.

I hope Hit is neutral and not evil. Would be cool to have another character that can keep up with Goku.

Some gifs of the last episode.

yooo. really good shit. last two episodes looked way better overall and had leagues better animation, but once kaoiken hit, the quality also got x10'd.

smh, can't believe you just did vegeta like that :'(

This last episode was classic Dragon Ball Z.

*Goku doing the "and this is to go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND" bit.

*A powerful enemy that is also getting stronger and lets Goku become stronger to try his prowess.

*Side character crapping their pants at the powers on display.

*Vegeta getting penis envy yet again on Goku being one step ahead of him (even says that line again!).

*Had flashback to an earlier episode.

*Lots of screaming and shouting for power ups and clashes.

*Auras and auras.

Oh snaps KAIO-KEN SON!!!! I guess that move was never really compatible with the other SSJ forms before, this new god form seems to be less taxing on the body and he is able to use it with KK.

Goku stays winning, Vegeta stays losing.

Haven't watched an episode of Super since episode 12 and I've been reading lot's of praise on twitter about this last episode and by reading some of the comments here as well.... man, looks like I will have to catch on now!Especially those who mention that this later episodes feels like the classic good old days of DBZ wich makes me real hyped!

Start watching at episode 28. (the new arc starts there )

The show completely turned around. It will keep on improving until reaching that high point in episode 39.

Yeah this last episode was basically a return to the good old days. Hit has really proven himself a great fighter, and the battle actually gave me tense feelings. It felt like Hit could pull some shit and beat Goku (and technically, by all rights, he did, he just let Goku get back in the game to try to grow more).

They like the design though. These guys including forst have the same thing.
