The place they live in is inside the park he protects. They are isolated. There's random poachers once in a while. Considering he can fly over his park pretty fast (and knows where they live), I'd say he doesn't have to be right next to them 24/7.
well then he discovers even more quickly that they all have been murdered and there is more time for him to fly around in rage looking for the culprits
instead of, you know, sitting around hoping Goku fixes it
even Tenshinhan, who didn't even have hope of damaging Buu showed up, and he had no dead family to avenge. why would 17 not show up somehow?
even if he could not feel ki, it'd be easy to blow up a few mountains and have the problems go to him instead
Well we can debate about semantics, it's all about point of view. It is fatality to him. The fact that something could erase existence entirely represents fatality, as in maybe he doesn't think he would make a difference. Or precisely, it's their destiny to either win or lose and he won't go against it, "so be it".
Stuff like "everybody dies one day". If everyone is gone then there's no mourning, no pain. I guess he doesn't mind it because it's the end of any suffering at once, and "ignorance is bliss" so the people that don't know about it can't get afraid.
(I don't fully agree with him even though I get his mentality, for the record, but let's wait next week. Even though I'm guessing it's more the "fun" side of it that will convince him.)
Still not the same as greedy humans torturing animals to get richer though.
it's not semantics: "hey if we win this tournament we don't get erased, you are p strong you should help" is extremely straightforward
we normally make fun of Goku for risking the existence of Earth on random tournaments just to check his own strength, and the reverse argument also works; refusing to participate when the opportunity is offered is also stupid
That's dumb.
He literally saw Goku fight Buu, why the heck would he go there ? And then heard him say someone stronger than him would come and kill him shortly.......
He had no reason to intervene (given his personality) since he knew the Z fighters were on the case and had access to the Dragon Balls.
His family was at a remote location that was very likely not to get blown up.
because his family got killed by Buu?
even then, he must be employed by _someone_. being a ranger means depending on a government, and those tend to be in big cities. and you know he IS employed cause he is being paid big bucks
it's not like he could go "I hope the guys who pay me don't get destroyed until Goku -a guy I've never met- solves everything"
Also the flying bit is kinda cringe worthy. As if you'd find what you're looking for that easily while having no idea where it is on a surface that large (
the entire world). Have you seen how much of a struggle Gohan had with finding an
earring ?

Imagine finding one guy randomly through the world. (since the telepathy stopped right after Goku showed up)
On top of that he had no reason not to believe what Goku said at that point.
do you think that 17 would stay at home, chillin' until 18 comes to him with the dragon balls?
he would try _something_ and flying around the world looking for the destruction path is reasonable; if you have a map, and know that such and such city go destroyed, you can fly there in literally minutes
just because you have no imagination and cannot think of how to solve such a problem doesn't mean android 17 would not think of a solution either, and just flying around looking for the destruction is only one of the possible solutions
he could go to a destroyed city and re-destroy the place; Buu surely would notice something is going on. surely there are other options
dunno, there are tons of ways for a superpowered guy to find Buu _if_ he really wanted. if he didn't it's cause either he was dead, he just felt "it was fate" and stayed put or...he is not very smart
I mean... Mr Satan finds Buu and he cannot sense Ki, or fly, or destroy cities
As for post genocide, considering he has no idea the lookout exists, even "flying over the world" would lead him absolutely nowhere. What happened after Buu came out of the HTC also happened over a very short amount of time (the longest time sink being the time Buu took to run away from Gohan, where nobody was fighting).
1) Who said he'd be cool seeing his family dead ? Of course not. He still can't do anything. He also saw Buu turn entire cities into candies, so maybe he felt like he needed a plan to : locate and beat him. We still have 0 way to know if he was at Cell's level or beyond too. And it all happened very quickly.
2) Why would he ask her about he dragon balls ? He'd assume they'd ask for all the victims to be revived, like they did for Cell... And to be fair that thought probably helps not "losing it". That's not far fetched.
Yeah or then again it's not like he could do anything.
well you are the one saying that 17 would stay put waiting for people to be revived. I bolded the part where you said that he would do nothing and just wait for the problem to solve itself....then get blown up with the earth like a chump
dunno how long it went since the genocide to the destruction of earth. at least a couple of hours? more than enough time imho. Particularly since Piccolo gave Buu the long walkaround, the pause for the Gotenks fusion refill, Vegeta showing up, etc
also we don't know if he doesn't even know of the lookout. Even if his relationship with 18 seems distant, I _ASSUME_ at some point he asked how come he got revived if his last memory was getting absorbed by Cell...maybe he even saw everything from inside Cell? he must have heard of how the dragonballs removed the bomb in him
