Dragon Ball Xenoverse (PS3/PS4/360/XB1) Revealed

Let this franchise die already please, there's only so much you can take of a really dated shonen. (though budokai was enjoyable at times).

One piece on the other hand... keep it coming...

So Dimps, the devs who made the budokai style games are making a over the shoulder tenkaichi/battle of z'ish type of game (minus having more then two characters on field) and it already looks better then the last few games we've got? Fucking lol

I'm assuming a lot of this is down to Bandai Namco, they must want the series to keep heading in this direction. Probably cheaper for them to get Dimps to just continue where the last devs left off too I guess.

It may be misplaced but I'm putting faith in Dimps to actually give us a decent DBZ game.

Can't believe people want a generic 2D fighter with the DBZ coat of paint. The Tenkaichi style is the one that more emulates the show / source material.

Why not play the other dozens of fighters, like combo/juggle game IV, ultra sub hyper 5, revengeance HD edition, or whatever the fuck Capcom are calling their games these days. (Yes, I'm aware revengeance is Metal Gear & Konami.).

Why does it surprise you that people want an accessible fighting game with characters they know and love? The Dimps 2.5D fighters are often fun enough to people who've never experienced Dragon Ball. It's hard to recommend the 3D games to non-Dragon Ball fans.

Yeah, except that it's not a Dimps style DBZ game, it seems to be Tenkaichi-like.
Preorder cancelled.

I hadn't preordered it yet, but I definitely won't be doing so now. :(

I want Tenkaichi 4 dammit Q_Q

Visuals might not be the best, but I thought the animations were cool. Character customization might return, and I hope to god it's better then Ultimate's CC.

Next Gen version is great, but I thought there was another DB game being made. Is this that game?

If it's closer to Budokai, using Tenkaichi's camera, I suppose I'll give it a shot.

Super Dragon Ball Z was just ahead of its time and directed towards the wrong fanbases...

Wow, I'm not up on my Dragonball info, what the hell is Super Saiyan God?

My first thought was a Future Trunks and Future Gohan fusion.

Yeah, I'm out. May as well be another Tenkaichi sequel. Oh well. There's no shortage of fighters coming out, so that's good.

The camera angles are odd. It reminds me of some weird mixture between the Sparking and Budokai camera, not really sure how to explain it. Gameplay doesn't look that great either so I'll probably just skip it.

I don't mind Dimps making this game because it feels like a Tenkaichi game. Animations are really cool too. Will probably buy if the reviews are good enough. I haven't played a DBZ game since Burst Limit, which I didn't enjoy that much, after loving Tenkaichi 3.

I'm not 100% sold on the perspective, but this does look a lot better than Spike's games, now that I see it in action.

Will remain cautiously optimistic.

From Siliconera

"First, you can transform in a stage. Second, the game has canceling."

"Bandai Namco talked up graphical upgrades. Characters show facial expressions when they strike an opponent and take damage, similar to the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. The game uses Havok and Silicon Studios Yebis2 engine for energy blast particle effects."

Based on those screens, this game is looking REALLY nice.

I'm extremely skeptical though. I haven't enjoyed a DBZ fighting game since the first Budokai Tenkaichi. I was a big fan of the original Budokai titles, and my favorite out of all of them was Budokai 3. So it's been a while since I've played a DBZ game that I absolutely loved.

Character transformation seems to be back as opposed to making them separate characters, which is a huge plus for me since I loved transforming into different Super Saiyan forms mid-battle.

I'll keep an eye on this title as we see and learn more about it.

That Super Buu screenshot looks dope. One of my favorite villains, felt a lot more dangerous then Cell IMO.

Buu definitely felt more dangerous, but Cell, in my opinion, was more psychologically terrifying. His intelligence and smug attitude really got under my skin, and there haven't been many other villains in shounen that creep me out as much as Cell did.

That's fine by me - If they can do something fresh with it then by all means they should. Budokai 3 was fantastic but there's no use just chasing that forever. This looks heavily Tenkaichi inspired (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but I'm sure they're doing their own thing with it. Tenkaichi 2 and 3 were great DBZ games - sure not deep fighters, but good encapsulations of Dragon Ball z into an action game. So I'll see what Dimps are doing with this first, it may actually turn out pretty good.

This franchise needs to crash and burn. It was never suppose to be a fighting-esque game. It was suppose to evolve and become sort of like X from Monolith. Open-world RPG with MMO elements and different fighting modes.

Plays like Tenkaichi. Thank God. Hopefully it controls closer to Tenkaichi than Raging Blast, but I'm just glad it's not in the style of the last few of these games.

Doesn't look that bad actually, colour me surprised. Wish they would make a burst limit 2 though, that was the last DBZ game I enjoyed.

There thousands of other anime that they can make into a game, yet they keep going back with Dragon Ball Z. As much as I love the anime/manga. Its getting boring to see them speed pump out lacklusting games.

Why not .Hack//, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sword Art Online, One Piece, etc?
