Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit demo on US MP

What do you mean?

Also im gonna try the arcade stick now.

EDIT: HOLY CRAP.

You can literally instawin those melee and beam struggles with a fighting stick 3! :lol

Takes a little bit to get used to the button placement with the shoulder buttons...but its nice. Also you can still dash towards the opponent. Just tap forward twice.

Its kinda hard to get used to it though, after only playing DBZ games with a d-pad.

See? I'm telling ya, for an arcadey type game, this type of game fits perfectly for it.

I enjoyed the demo. Loved Budokai 3. Tenkaichi? Not so much. Disappointed to see that it's only up til the end of the Cell Saga though. No Buu :(

wow, this demo impressed the hell out of me. Graphics are ace, super great. Anyone have any idea how far in the series this goes? I only saw Freeza and Cell on the title screen...

..and honestly I'm fucking sick of how the american DBZ games start with Raditz every time and only go until Cell. Same with the Naruto games here. Everything is so far behind where the story is it makes me not want to play.

If this game goes until GT then I'll definitely pick it up. If it stops short of Buu then no thanks. There's already been DBZ games here with basically everyone so if they go backwards that's just stupid as hell.

GT isnt really "canon" but im not gonna go there. Anyway it stops with the Cell saga end. They just focused on refining the fighting mechanics and not jampacking it with 50 fighters that most people probably wont use anyway. You might still want to pick up the game because of the amazing cutscenes, great gameplay, online multiplayer, and of course possible movie senarios.

Or just wait for Burst Limit 3 :lol

well that's cute, because I think I said until GT. As in the end of the Z saga.

and I'm not one of the people who go uber crazy against GT because toriyama didn't write all of it either. If they make a game with it I wouldn't complain.

but yeah, it felt good from what I played, but only (I know, only, right?) 35 characters just feels so slim compared to the past games. oh well. it's a rental at least.

"you might still want to pick up the game because of the amazing cutscenes, great gameplay, online multiplayer, and of course possible movie senarios."

and no, I don't consider cutscenes of anime that I've seen already a selling point, nor do I consider new cutscenes with laughably bad cartoon lip sync to be highly entertaining. and while possible movie scenarios does sound tempting, it certainly isn't as big of a draw as having the full z saga, especially since it's been done for what, over 10 years? ugh.

I was thinking about making a sorta slant stand for the stick. Dont know why but my right hand seems to get a kinda cramped feeling when playing with a stick on a flat surface.

EDIT: Anyone know if the JP version has "remixed classic tracks"? I remember that being stated in an early interview for the game.

Well. When I go play Tekken over at my friends house, I usually have it sat in my lap to play so it's slanted. I think it's more easier for me to play on a flat surface.

I downloaded the demo and was actually really surprised with it. I had alot of fun...I'm not sure if I'll buy it, but it was definitely a really polished game.

Maybe I just need to get used to it. Havent had much of a chance to test it against friends...but I think i'll spend a bit of time going through my fighters against the CPU.

EDIT: Stick also makes it easier to pull off unblockable modifyers for the normal specials, and vanishing counters.

The thing with my HRAP3 is it is a Sanwa style stick. Which makes games like Street Fighter a real pain in the ass to play. It's really hard to do just a simple fireball move (circle forward). The EX2 is kinda the same way. So I've had to stick with just playing with the d-pad with that because it's just hella easier. But for games like Tekken, VF, Soul Calibur, etc., they're hella nice to play. DBZ: BL is another to possibly add to my list of fighters.

(Although I haven't really tried out KOF: XI. I hear it uses the same arcade type of what you'd find in Tekken 5.)

Whew, thought I was the only one! lol the day I got back with my fighting stick I went WTF when I couldnt even do a simple fireball motion in SF III Third strike. It does kick ass for 3d fighting games it seems. Is the "rigidness" because of the stick itself or the square gate?

Either way it seems im going Dual Shock 3 for fighting games with SF esque motions, and FS3 for 3d VF/Tekken esque controlled fighters.

Of course then that would make it harder to pull off 360 degree motions for the grapple prone fighters :lol And some EX moves as well. Damn im at a crossroads again.

it takes a while to get used to a japanese style stick if you are not accustomed to them. Trust me though in the end its worth it... fireballs are much easier now... and really 2d games become drastically different because of the preciseness of a stick.

It's how the gate is I believe. If you move the stick around in a 360 motion, you can feel each point (down, down-left, left) so when you try to roll it, it feels like you're forcing the motion. I've got used to just a simple circle-forward motion now (thanks to Paul Phoenix) but trying to pull it off twice is hella hard. I can't do supers for the life of me in Alpha 3.

Soul Calibur 2 and 3 is easy to get used to. Although it has this very loose feel about the moveset. Maybe it'll feel more natural with IV.

I just tried KOF: XI and it's not to shabby. It's just these past 5 or so years, I've been a d-pad player. Only to be playing for about 6 months with an arcade stick. Still have a lot to get used to. Tekken's the only game so far I've adapted to quite nicely. EWGF's are so so so much easier to pull now.

Oh yes, Guilty Gear uses the Sanwa type as well and it feels really good with the HRAP3. I think this and KOF: XI are the only two I can manage to play okay with in terms of 2D fighters. Anything else I've tried (Alphas, Third Strike, etc) I can only play with the d-pad. Hopefully future fighters (SF4, KOFXII, Blueblaze) work well with an arcade stick.

See thats what I want to do, force myself to get used to the JP style so I can get back to "normal" capability, then surpass that with the newfound accurate controls.

EDIT: Yeah it doesnt just seem like a smooth roll.

The more I play the demo and learn how the game works, the more I want to make this a day one purchase. The presentation's a little off-putting with its complete and utter lack of lip synch, but the gameplay pretty much mimics the insanity of the show. Hopefully they'll tweak the lip synching for the North American release.

I wish i hadn't tried this because now I'm going to have to buy it :lol

It's also kind of funny to me that the graphics have actually surpassed the original shows animated look somehow.

If not, just slap on the JP voices and everything should sync :lol

Hmmmm...i really like those lil cutscenes during the battles(raditz talking about goku increasing his power lvl, SBC, Gohan)

And i wonder if the Ultimates are going to be like they are in Budokai 3(cutscene) or the way they are in the Tenkaichi series...Personally i like the Budokai 3 cutscene versions.

trust me... its difficult... you have to let go of your pride and just deal with losing, when you can do that... you'll become good at using a stick.
quick question... how do you guys do the chase attacks, and the dodge behind attacks?

The game really does look stunning. And not only that but it plays well... it's a lot of fun. I've never even seen this show and am thinking about getting it. I wish more fighting games were this fun and flashy.

If this game doesn't have any reference to the "It's over 9000!"...I will be truely sad.
It's already been shown in the early movies and it's in the game's intro. Vegeta does the whole scene just like the anime. :lol

Chasing: Go into Aura Spark mode, then just hit with a L2/ LT attack.

Vanishing/Dodge attacks: Just press the R2 button after landing a hit that knocks the enemy away. Keep up the timing and you can ping-pong em across the screen around 4-5 times I believe.

Also if you press L2/LT right before your final Vanishing attack, you can initiate a chase cutscene as well, upping the damage if you can string all this into a combo and win the struggle.

If you just want to teleport out of the way of a move, just press forward and block before it hits you/ in the middle of a combo hitting you. Also you can just start a vanishing attack ping ponging combo by going into aura spark mode, then pressing that same button again to port behind the enemy's back. After they are hit with that first attack, just keep pressing R2/RT with timing.

Ultimates are as flashy as that Super Kamehameha move that Goku has/ the Spirit ball Yamcha has. No crazy cutscenes this time around (they axed those in Shin Budokai onwards).

Wow, that demo rocks. The opening song/video is sweet too.

US version is confirmed dual-audio right? They aren't even trying with the lip-flap anymore, it's like a Godzilla movie.

Yeah JP language is in the retail version. Also the online is open region so JP vs NA vs EU vs etc.

Chris Sabat can't deliver that line like Brian Drummond.

I still need to finish my Android Saga box set. Stopped just after Future Trunks went back.

I checked out the ps3 demo for this today. You know, when I'm at work, I really hate people who want to tell me how awesome DBZ is for the billionth time. But when I played this, I went "ooh, I better let Raditz beat me down so Gohan can be all LEAVE MY DAD ALONE AAAAAAAAAH", then grinned like an idiot when it happened. :lol
