Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butouden announced for 3DS

The way I felt seeing this

A shame it's on 3DS only if it's developed by ASW :( I'd love to play this properly with a stick. I was fine with it until I found out ASW was behind development.

Cool. I love that it's 2D, no fighting game should be in 3rd person, IMO. I also love the huge roster, can't wait to main an incredibly minor character :P

There's another scan floating out there now, with a few different pics.

More assists like Great Saiyaman, Videl, Master Roshi and the Turtle were confirmed on this page.

Yep. Also aerial combat confirmed, but I doubt it'll be like Supersonic Warriors... maybe. XD Looks really cool (SSW2) so it'd be cool if they did bring that back here.

The aerial combat is probably a direct reference to how it was done in the Butoden series since its inception: where "flying" was basically just a second level to the arena itself.

Kai Butoden (DS) did this in its own way, too.

woah the 2D sprite looks so good :O

I'll keep my eye on this one

(It kinda reminds me of DBZ Butouden 2 for SNES which was my favorite SNES game back in the day)

After a hundred years of DBZ Mugen, this game doesn't look like... IDK. It doesn't really stand out.

This really just looks like someone's mishmash Mugen project, not something you'd spend money on.

It doesn't even look like all those characters are on the same plane...

Still, summoning Dr. Briefs (the man who saved the universe from Frieza) is too cool to pass up.

I joked about this before but

The feeling that I've seen it before deflates some of the hype.

Spritework looks really good.

ArcSys knows their 2D fighting, so this could actually be pretty awesome. I hope we get to see some gameplay footage soon.

Supposedly this game uses redrawn sprites based on Supersonic Warriors. Not sure if that means anything for gameplay.

Probably doesn't mean anything for gameplay (The game looks to be fairly grounded; SSW was all about aerial combat), but it's a nice touch of consistency on ASW's part.

This month's V-Jump:

Release date is June 11th.
5690 yen + tax
First print bonuses: Golden Freeza Discross Coin + code to use him in-game, downloadable Butouden 2 on 3DS, Resurrection F Goku card for Dragon Ball Heroes
If you have Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2, you can unlock Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta.
Demo next month for V-Jump readers. It'll contain Goku, Teen Gohan, Vegeta and Majin Buu as playable characters. You can transfer the save data from the demo to the full game, which carries over your "power level" and unlocks Resurrection F Goku.

This game makes me curse the fact Nintendo's handled are not region free anymore. I guess I'm screwed with my New 3DS.

Hopefully this will come out in the states considering Xenoverse did so well

Well, there's should be a NB reveal later this month that seems to me like it will be anime themed. If I had to make a bet, given 3ds demographics and Xenoverse success, it would be exactly this.

It means it'll animate as well as an LED Tiger handheld. (Though other ArcSys arcade fighters are somewhat guilty of that too)
