Dragon's Crown (PS3/Vita) coming to NA this summer

$50? Ouch. Had I had any faith in Vanillaware delivering a good game it would be one thing, but I don't feel like being let down and robbed at the same time. Hope there's a demo at least.

sharp ass.

Welp

Vita version just ceased to exist to me. So did any real motivation to get a Vita in the first place.

Oh well. Guess I can just get a cheap mem card and play Muramasa and Gravity Rush on my bro's

Still hyped for what is shaping up to be a pretty great belt scrolling action game

When was there ever a bad Vanillaware game? If there was, I haven't played it.

DON'T GET BAITED

Day one both versions. Will go digital for Vita, PS3 too if there is a discount bundle, if not I'll be able to get stuck into the Vita version while waiting for PS3 disc to arrive in the mail. Good times.

Any word on dual audio or Japanese voices? No Asami Imai, no buy.

It's Atlus and with the multiplayer focus I highly doubt the game will be anywhere near as verbose as Odin Sphere was.

And that game had Dual Audio on the PS2

So barring some crazy behind the scenes licensing issues I can't imagine the game not having japanese voices, or dual audio.

but I mean I couldn't imagine this game not supporting cross-play either so...

It's Atlus so probably not.

Atlus games rarely have dual audio. so... ):

EDIT: EVERYONE IS BEATING ME TO THE PUNCH TODAY AAAAAHHH

Maybe not their big Persona RPGs with days and days worth of voiced dialogue

but Persona 4A had dual audio as well as Odin Sphere on the PS2

Keep hope alive I say

I suddenly want to read Dragonlance, spout lines about hope, carrots, oxen, and call my brother a fool.

I...don't know why, really. Just an urge, I suppose. Random as any other.

I have it on good authority that Ignition was planning on including dual audio back when it was going to publish DC (they did with El Shaddai as well), so hopefully Atlus will follow suit. This will be Vita GOTY regardless.

I think it's interesting to see now that it's come down to being one or the other for most people, that so many people are picking Vita.

I always figured it'd be the opposite

Dragon's Crown was the reason I picked up a Vita in the first place. Looks like the perfect handheld game to play in spurts.

And personally, I can't wait to shelf the PS3 this fall.

Hopefully not, because that would mean Soul Sacrifice, and Tearaway are garbage.

People like having bite-sized, arcadey experiences on handhelds, and this is probably much closer to a "monster hunter" in modern genre terms, than an RPG, or even a 3D 3rd person action game.

I can see why it's initially suprising, but upon closer inspection, I can also understand why it's happening.

DC is a much more rare commodity in this day-and-age, than a MH-a-Like, and a Media Molecule platformer. It's a much fresher idea in comparision, so I could see it standing out more for many.

... Of course, we're suppose to be getting Ys Foilage Ocean in Celceta this year, too... Falcom sound team can make a GOTY decision very hard... ha.

I guess it's surprising to me since I don't know anyone who has a Vita besides my little brother, who I'm convinced only wanted it because it was the new thing.

and that I still play games locally with people more than anything. and this game looks like the perfect local play game even with the persistent character building.

I do understand this too though. Starting to play MHFU on my PSP a couple weeks ago has opened my eyes to the appeal of this kind of gaming.

I think overall I need to know more about the game before I make a final decision myself. To see which way the game leans more.(towards the monster hunter or the old school belt scrolling action game aspects) because we still know next to nothing about how this game is actually structured.

If the Vita version really has no netplay then fuck that completely though

Most signs point to joystiq reporting wrong, so Vita can do local and online with other Vita players, and just judging from this thread there will be a good portion of people for Vita online.

Hey Retro, where is your avatar from?
Fan art or was that sprite prototype for the game?

Yeah, totally understand that. For me, 2P local co-op is the preferred way to play, everything else is just bonus. Online play matters little to me, because most online players just want to find the best way to abuse the system / be annoying, and spam that. I love enjoying the combos and playing at a comfortable, enjoyable pace...

I hope even the story segments end up just like the D&D Arcade story scenes, and that the hub-town area that's mentioned is little more than an interactive version of the shops in that game.

But we really don't know at all yet... we haven't seen a real stage walk-through, or know if there's a need to unlock moves or combos, or even if scrolls are needed to get new spells. Hopefully we find out much more soon.

Adhoc only for Vita is a bit of a bummer, since I was gonna buy it on Vita (I need more Vita games compared to PS3), but I have good faith in the game anyways, and I like the genre, so mildly ticked yet still gonna buy it.

Same sentiments. I have Dota 2 for my very dedicated and competitive multiplayer game, a local co-op that I can enjoy with friends and siblings is much more enticing. A part of me is still waiting for HD Metal Slug.

I wish there were more preview videos of this game. I've never played a Vanillaware game before so I'm not sure what to expect.

Is this a sidescrolling action RPG or are there other gameplay elements I'm missing?
