Just the once or many times?
Don't be like the lazy assholes she is talking about.

Obviously you would have to put in a few years. She is not going to give away her hard inherited money away for a few minutes of pleasure.

There really is a lot of money out there and a ton of opportunities available for enterprising individuals to make a ton of money. You can set up a business online nowadays for about $100 which is absolutely mindblowing. There is a lot of money to be made nowadays - just gotta put the time and effort in.
It has been awhile since I took Economics but I believe in the US something like 95% of businesses go out of business within the first 5 years.

Lets not oversimplify how easy it is to become rich. This is not the Republican Convention, this is a videogame forum. We only stretch the truth about what console or smartphone we like.

It amazes me that the rich act like everybody can be wealthy. It doesn't work that way. You need people to do the shit work nobody else wants to. Unfortunatly for those people, they aren't even paid a living wage let alone enough money to get themselves out of it.

Why do all these billionaire types hate the poor so much? I mean you're already rich, you won.

They don't hate the poor, they just can't relate to the poor. It's why so many of them offer insipid advice like this lady here is. She has never been poor or even close to it, it's a foreign concept to her, so when she hears of poor people complaining she simply can't understand what all the noise is about. Mitt Romney has a similar problem, he has real issues relating to non-millionaires.

Its a conflation of the idea that anyone can be rich with the idea that everyone can be rich. It also usually comes along with a belief that people's success is determined entirely by their intrinsic talent and two equally talented individuals have equal probabilities at success regardless of circumstances

The comments were part of a treatise on what she sees as Australia's decline due to high taxes, high wages and over-regulation. Rinehart said taxes should fall, red tape should be cut, environmental rules relaxed and the minimum wage should be lowered.

I always chuckle a bit at sentiments like this. Yes, her nation's decline. Obviously, it falls on her to speak passionately about this issue given the colossal impact she herself must be feeling due to these hard economic times.

Money begets money. It is vastly easier to make money when you already have a lot of it.
True but she is referencing a certain type of person. Being in the mining industry I imagine she is referencing the behaviour of a stereotypical miner. Working out in the middle of nowhere and because they earn really good money blowing chunks of it on woman and alcohol. A friend of mine used to work in an ausie mine earning good money but saved fuck all. He worked hard and played hard.

Not all people are like that and it isn't the right thing to say but I can definitely see how she might jump to that conclusion.

Another case is an ex employee who smokes to much weed and drinks a lot. Lives in a really crappy house which they rent. Possessions tv couches car beds etc are all old and shit. Lives week to week strugling to pay bills. That's on two incomes. My brother on half their money has same number of kids a nice house new LCD tvs two nice cars that don't break down and savings on the rise.

Anyone who has read the book would know that all the super geniuses would welcome tilling the soil themselves. Even in their little hideaway they have people willingly doing all the blue collar work like track laying themselves and relishing the opportunity, and of course they're practically all in the top tier of physical attributes as well as mental. They would till the land with their angular features.

I'm talking specifically about starting up a business online, not a real life business.

My friend used to run a surfboard racks store - it cost him about $10 to register a domain and he used Shopify.com to host it for about $35 a month. He wrote a bunch of articles about surfboard racks on a blog and put adverts on the blog linking to his store. Within 3-4 months, he was pulling in somewhere in the region of $3-4k revenue per month with about 30-40% of it being profit. He sold the site a few months ago for $6,900 - https://flippa.com/2740856-established-niche-branded-surf-shops-over-65k-high-season-coming-up. He took most of his profit from the surfboard racks store and re-invested it into new web properties. He's raking in the cash nowadays.

Had it failed.. So what? It cost him so little to set it up in the first place.

The internet has opened up so many opportunities for business that weren't around ten years ago. Jump on the bandwagon now and exploit it now while you can.. It's the smart thing to do.

lol, yeah, I read it. They most certainly would take pleasure in it, if only to spite the unwashed masses they left behind. Point being, no one is actually like that. At least not a large enough collective of people to form a functional society.

I don't see why is it important who is saying it? I don't understand the shoot the messenger attitude.

If a non-rich said the same the response would basically be "Thanks captain obvious"

It's not who is saying it, or even how. It's the fact that it's absolutely not true across the board. At least not in the black and white terms she puts it in. By her logic, the term "working poor" must be some mysterious paradox.

Basically Reducing employee numbers, longer hours, and pay that hasn't increased proportionately with cost of living Keeps most people trapped scrapping by. For the shareholders and higher ups it's awesome though.

So what does she actually do that earns her 19 billion? Like did she build that herself? Oh wait, this worthless fuck just inherited everything... never mind

love how all the self made billionaires who actually had to work for it are all fairly humble and don't usually come off selfish

a non rich person would never say it. A person who barely makes a living, works as hard as they can to provide for their family, and still barely makes enough to drink, doesn't need to be told they should work harder. It's the people who sit on most of the wealth, drinking and doing nothing that should be working harder, but no one does. Tax these fuckers so they can learn what it means to work.
