How often do you have your drink refilled when you go out to eat?

I'm not talking liquor or those small glasses of water, but when you order a Coke or something at an Applebees or similar, how often is your glass refilled?

I generally get it refilled once if at all and never close to needed a second. I tend not to drink much during the meal so the bulk of the drink happens after I'm finished eating.

My girlfriend on the other hand routinely gets two to three refills as she drinks during and thinks it's weird that I generally wait.

So what does GAF do?

Depends on the Glass size and amount of ice.

Example:

I was out with my wife for lunch yesterday. I ordered a Dr. Pepper. It came in an 12 ounce glass 75% filled with Ice. I got it refilled at least 4 times in the hour we were there.

Never order a soft drink at a restaurant unless it is sparkling water which in that case, they leave the bottle on the table. Sometimes waiters and waitresses will fill it up for me which is nice but I do not feel it is required since the bottle is on the table.

I used to get coke and get like 4 refills since I drink a lot. Nowdays, I've decided to cut back on soda and just ask for water. I still refill quite a few times, mostly cause they put so much damn ice in the glass that I can usually drink the entire glass in 1 drop.

Soda 2 refills max. I drink a lot before and during the meal. I also judge a waiter/waitress by how well they notice.

I do that too. How fast you refill my water is the difference between 15% and 25%.

i'm a refill whore. more importantly, my tip is directly tied to how long i have to wait before i get a refill. if i'm not hydrated, my wallet dries up.

If it's a mexican restaurant I get like 3-4 or more.
Any other place and the service is so bad I'm lucky to get a drink at all.
Most I've done is 9.

In Italy you don't get a refill unless you pay full price again.

im in canada where iced tea is always sweetened nestea or brisk out of a fountain pop machine so i never have to worry about that. it's always the same consistency that i love.

Usually depends on the weather and I normally just get water.

If it summer, then I'll normally be on my 2nd glass before the meal arrives. Otherwise I'll stay on my first glass well into my meal.

I haven't been drinking soda lately, but I pound through it usually when I go out to eat and there are free refills. Also I always ask for light ice, those places probably make a killing with how little they actually give you.

It's quite the novelty after having to pay for each and every one in the UK. There, I'd pay for one and then drink water. Here, I usually have 2 or 3, depending on the size of the glass/how much ice.

Free chips/bread when you're seated is also quite exciting!!

Pretty much this. I drink a lot of fluids with my meal. I get iced tea most often and have actually had waitresses bring out the pitcher and leave it for me. I drink a lot with spicy food too.

It's a problem when I drink beer with my meals. I end out smashing the beer down fast like it was water and get a pretty gnarly buzz.

I was amazed when I was over in the States, my uncle took me to an In and Out and I got the largest size drink there was. It was larger than the largest soft drink size we (Australia) have in cinema here. To think that people actually get refills for this sort of thing. I'd tank my liver in a matter of weeks if I did that very often.

The option to refill isn't very prevalent here. Often for them to allow you to do it, you have to buy the large too.

So what does GAF do?

i don't have a method, as long as i'm not done eating, whenever the glass gets empty, i expect it to be refilled. that can be from 2-6 cups depending on how long i'm there.

Yeah, this is pretty much me, so long as they have good brewed iced tea.

Probably 3-5 total iced teas when all is said and done. Refill attentiveness is the #1 indicator of a good server.

I drink alot of water. Alot. If its a soda then I would usually only get it refilled once, but water should just keep on coming. At a diner I frequent sometimes the server just brings us a pitcher because they know that I drink so much.

I usually never get refills, but here (Sweden) its rare that they are free. If they are I usually just get 1 refill.

The first restaurant that I worked at had these massive 44oz cups. Man, I loved those fucking things, you hardly ever had to refill them.

At Bonefish, we served tea/soda in 12 oz glasses, felt like I spent half my damn shift refilling the goddamn things.
