So my wife drinks from time to time, very rare. She got tore up for her bachelorette party, even drank a little beer. When we drink @ a friends or anywhere she just doesnt drink. When she goes it, which is rare, she'll drink mix drinks, a favorite is long island ice tea and cherry vodka sour. She has taken shots, but mainly when she's buzzing.

She doesnt mind drinking, she just says nothing suits her. I just told her she should try wine and she gave me a weird look(she thinks its for older ppl).

What can gaf recommend? Any wine recommendations for a 22yr old female who does not like beer, does not just start off taking shots, prefers a cherry vodka sour over anything else. She does like margaritas.

I'm looking mainly for when we drink @ home or go to a friends. I dont want to feel left out, as she seems to and since most times its just us and 1 other couple, my friends girl feels weird drinking alone. No I'm not forcing her to drink, she'd like to but she hasnt found anything.

It sounds like cherry vodka sour is favorite drink.....

Get her some white wine.

Any white wine? Or are there certain brands? We both have zero knowledge on wine. So starter wines with a GREAT taste are much preferred.

Is Don and Bens a good place to look? I wonder if there are Don and Ben's throughout the states lol. I'm in San Antonio, Tx. D&B is basically a liqour store, big chain here.

Try some kind of fortified wine. Basically they add alcohol to a wine and it raises the alcohol level to a point where the yeast quits breaking down the sugar. This gives it the benefit of being sweet and having a higher alcohol content. Anything Boone's.

Also, just vodka and juice. Orange Juice, Pineapple juice, Grape Juice...etc. There's also flavored vodka's so she could mix and match with fruit juice to taste. Easy to transport places and mix, and she can make them how she wants if she finds a flavor combo she likes.

Smirnoff Ice. Lambic beers (awesome).
She doesnt like Smirnoff and what not. I mean she can drink them but she isnt asking for them or anything, and even than she rather drink Bacardii Silver. She just told me "You cant drink oj with liquor" and gave a cute "wtf idk" face. I told her pineapple juice and she seemed ok but idk :\

About 12 bucks a bottle. For the love of god, if you plan to get it, serve it chilled and with a few ice cubes. Some ginger ale sweetens it up nicely too.

RELAX Riesling. It`s a slightly sweet and fruity white.

Its very soft.. fucks you up though.
Pinapple and Malibu.

What about any of the "breeze" drinks? Bay Breeze, Sea Breeze...? Cosmopolitan? Sex on the Beach? There are a ton of girlie drinks out there.

If have you zero knowledge in wine, then yeah, pretty much any wine will be fine.
Just shop for what has the best looking label and is kinda cheap.

Have her try like a chardonnay or something.
Red wine is definitely an acquired taste, but white wine is usually just sweet and much more drinkable for a nondrinker.

Kriek Lambic, awesome stuff there (sour cherry beer).

As for wine you can try Port, it's not a white wine but it tends to be sweeter.

As for mixed drinks I can't really help you there, I prefer the whiskey sours, scotch sours, or my favorite scotch straight up

margarita is the classic girl drink, to get them drunk. so that, and kamekazi, white russian, any of these sours...amaretto, cranberry and grey goose, tequila sunrise.

Vanilla Vodka and Dr Pepper. Can almost mix 50/50 and it tastes like cream soda!

This is a good suggestion. I sub root beer for the Dr Pepper though. The more vanilla vodka, the better it tastes! It's like a root beer float or something.

Jagermeister or 151 for a non-drinker? Uh, definitely not.

My contribution is to suggest vodka + a puckers flavor she likes shaken on ice. It's basically like the juice + vodka suggestions, but maybe won't trigger the same "weird" reaction she had to the juice idea.

Give your wife a fruit-flavored Lambic such as Lindeman's; they're incredibly popular with women, particularly the ones who don't like beer.

Then give them a real unflavored Lambic, sit back and enjoy.

White Russians (made with top shelf, not the cheap shit) tastes like a good chocolate milk type drink.

Midori Sour

Sex on the Beach

Purple Haze

Pretty much try most of the fruity drinks a bartender can make. Just stay away from drinks called Oil Slick, Vulcan Mind Fuck, Grateful Dead or Alien Secretion.

I`d go as far as recommending any sour. Whisky sours are really nice.

Would this be a fair recommendation to someone who essentially considers themselves to be a non-drinker and dislikes the taste of alcohol? Even though I rarely go out, a gin and tonic is the only thing I've ever gotten and it's feeling a bit routine the past couple of times. An amaretto sour might be more my speed, but I can imagine the looks I'll get from my friends.

Screw your friends, nothing says manly more than sitting at a bar and drinking a fruity drink through a little straw with an umbrella.

Seriously, those drinks taste better than most drinks.

Now excuse me while I go get a Cherry Wheat Sam Adams from the fridge.

Haha I hardly buy anything else other than 151 or Everclear. Economics, baby.

Malibu Bay/Sea Breeze. Purple Sombreros. My GF is 25 and she loves them. All she'll drink outside of Strawberry Daqs and various margarita's.

Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
juice of 1/2 lemons
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon

Grateful Dead
1 part 1800® Tequila
1 part vodka
1 part light rum
1 part gin
1 part Chambord® raspberry liqueur

My girlfriend enjoys both of these.

I was gonna say whiskey sours, but amaretto sours would be good too.

I make whiskey sours with a beer, 12 oz of frozen lemonade, and 12oz of whiskey. Mix em in a blender with ice. Nice and sweet and knocks you on your ass FAST.

If she likes sour drinks vodka and gin gimlets are great, but may be an acquired taste. I agree with whoever brought up lambic beers, as women love em. You might also want to try some chocolate stoudts. Mind erasers are another girly sweet drink and they have the name for a reason. Not my cup of tea but you never know. If you're going to go with a wine I would recommend a white, preferably a Reisling, or a Petite Syrah. Black Tower is a good reisling for a good price and likewise with Bogle for the Petite Syrah. I hate to recommend it but White Zinfandel is pretty much the universal starter wine but it has no class and really no depth of flavor. Also, call me a weaboo, but if you get good sake there's nothing like it. Especially if pear or other fruits are in it.

How bout something incredibly not alcholic tasting like amaretto and coke...or amaretto sours...

Southern comfort / lime juice / coke?

Ah, it's nice to see there are other people in the same boat as me. I don't have anybody to try drinks with though :(

If I have to go for something non-mixed, I stick with wine coolers, Smirnoff, or Bacardi Ice.

"I love Lucy" it's blue, it's sweet, it's HARD but you don't taste it. Girls like pretty colors. It's like jello shots you have a couple thinking they're not so strong next thing you know you're running around naked on the dance floor!

Amaretto sour really is the classic chick drink.

Just remember, Malternatives, Alchopops, ect make you a bad person. Just say no.

What kind of flavors does your wife enjoy?
